I'll be surprised if they do.  From what I've heard, Nintendo really didn't like that film and the fact that it was a flop kept them out of the film industry for ages.  When was the first Pokemon film?  1999?  It took them 6 years to get over that shell shock and nearly 30 years for us to get another Mario movie.

I will probably watch and enjoy this film for what it is.  However, my real hope is that with the success of this, maybe we'll get a Legend of Zelda movie or maybe, just maybe, a Metroid film?

I think out of all franchises, I'd like to see a Metroid film.

I am cautiously optimistic. I don't know how I feel about Pratt as Mario, I'll have to wait for the trailer. I love him in some things and other things he feels like a generic actor.

The rest of the cast is great though, so I'm hoping if there are any short comings it won't be too bad. I love what they did with the LEGO and Sonic movies so hopefully Nintendo can pull off something good.
