Hi New Here and Had Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new here and had some questions about posting an ad for selling games here that maybe a mod or admin can help with.  Is there a way for me to delete my ad and put up a new one?  I thought choosing closed would do so, but it didn't.

And once it's sold, if I post an update saying it's sold, can I then remove the ad or do I ask to have it removed?

Also, I understand we can only post one thing for sale at a time right?

You can edit your first post and title on a thread to add or remove as much as you want, as long as the post isn't completely blank. If you have nothing in stock currently, just say so in your edit.

You can have however many items for sale you want, but keep it to one thread.

Generally people edit the first post of their thread to show their current items for sale or offer. That way anybody can see what's available in the OP (original post) without reading through an entire thread which might contain several pages of replies - often mostly replies by the OP (original poster). Whether editing or not, you can "bump" your own thread to the top of the forum by making a new reply - no more than once per day / 24-hour period please, per site rules.

Here is the most recently-bumped thread in the For Sale forum, where you can see both multiple items for sale, and OP bumping, in action.

Good luck with sales!

Okay.  I think I got it now.  So let me make sure I have it right.  I can post a response with updated information, if I have anything else for sale, I should just post it in the same thread?  I think it says it's closed to replies now from others though.  So I guess people can only contact me through private messaging or e-mail now?

If you have anything else, my suggestion would be to edit the first post, because it's easier for other people to find. And also reply to the thread, which will bring it to the top.

Check out sone other threads in that forum to see how things typically go.

If the thread is closed, correct - only PMs or email. I would say open the thread if you have item(s) available. There's not usually much public discussion, but sometimes people like to post "PM sent" or something like that and it's a free bump for you.

Thank you.  I think that  pretty much clears it up for me now.  I'll read this message back if I get confused again.  I'll also try to add to the thread to let people know to still send PMs or e-mail.  I was thinking about a price change on the Tetris game, so I'll include that as well.  It looks like from the rules I'll have to wait until that sale is finished before I post another one.  And I guess to end a for sale thread, I would just post that the item is sold or that I want to end the sale or something like that in a reply and it can be taken down?

You can have as many items as you want for sale at the same time. They should just all be in the same thread. That is merely to prevent one person having multiple threads crowding out others. And it would be to your benefit to have all of your current wares in the first post. Edit it as needed, as often as needed.

You can just remove an item from the post yourself when it's no longer available for whatever reason. Edit the post by clicking the three dots at the top right corner. (see picture ↓ )

Okay, got it now.  Just checked and added a response for now.  Will probably do an edit later.  Thanks so much for your help and thanks to everyone else for their help and for welcoming me here.

So there's no way to remove an ad once it's posted?  Like if the item is sold or if you decided you don't want to sell the item after all?  Why isn't there an option like that here?  Other forums have a delete post option.  Why not this one?  I didn't want my ad not to be open to questions anymore, so I wanna post a new one in place of the one I have.  Is there a way for me to do that?
