  1. Thanks! Funny thing is I own One Piece Romance Dawn. I just forgot to add the Atooi Collection CE on the variant side. The titles that only officially were sold with a big box...I wanted to note those since they will be on the second hand market without the outer boxes and also to compile all of the big box releases. I think I’ll add an asterisk to those though to note that was the only retail release. Most lists I saw online were missing some variants like the LEGO Jurassic World big box which seems pretty hard to find so I want to be sure there aren’t any others. I also noticed a lot of lists left out the 2packs like master Splitet Training Pack, despite it being a separate release with a unique cart.
  2. Do you have any variants documented? Here is what I show for major variants: Big Box Variants and Limited Editions 7th Dragon III Code VFD Launch Edition Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know Collector's Edition Adventure Time: Hey Ice King Collector's Edition Alliance Alive Launch Edition Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer w/amiibo scanner Beyblade: Evolution Collector's Edition Bravely Default: Collector's Edition Bravely Second: End Layer Collector's Edition Chibi-Robo Zip Lash [amiibo Bundle] Code of Princess Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars Limited Edition Corpse Party: Back to School Edition Culdcept Revolt Limited Edition Etrian Mystery Dungeon Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Etrian Odyssey Nexus Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir King Limited Edition Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends Of The Titan Limited Edition Etrian Odyssey 5: Beyond the Myth Launch Edition Final Fantasy Explorers Collector's Edition Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Limited Edition Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition Frogger 3D with Case Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi Limited Edition Harvest Moon: Skytree Village Limited Edition Hatsune Miku Project Mirai Launch Edition w/AR Cards & Wallet Chain Hot Wheels Worlds Best Driver w/Hot Wheel Toy Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance Limited Edition Legend of Legacy Launch Edition Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask Limited Edition LEGO Batman 3 Big Box w/Joker Keychain LEGO Legend of Chima Laval's Journey Big Box w/Crawly Minifigure LEGO Jurassic World w/Dr Wu minifig LEGO Marvel Avengers Big Box w/Quinjet LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Big Box w/Loki Keychain LEGO Star Wars: Force Awakens Big Box w/X-wing mini set Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven Limited Edition Mega Man Legacy Collection Collector's Edition Metroid Samus Returns Special Edition Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Collector's Edition Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Wild Cards Premium Edition Persona Q2: Showtime Premium Edition Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Dual Pack Pokemon Moon w/Bonus Lunala Figure Pokemon Sun w/Bonus Salgaleo Figure Pokemon Sun and Moon Dual Pack Pokemon Sun and Moon Dual Pack Steelbook Edition Pokemon Sun & Pokemon Moon Dual Pack w/ 3 Figures Pokemon Ultra Moon w/Bonus Dawn Wings Necrozma Keychain Pokemon Ultra Sun & Pokemon Ultra Moon Steelbook Edition Pokemon Ultra Sun & Pokemon Ultra Moon Dual Pack w/ 200 Pokeballs Pokemon Ultra Sun w/Bonus Dusk Mane Necrozma Keychain Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World [amiibo Bundle] Project X Zone: Limited Edition Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology Launch Edition River City Rival Showdown w/Keychain Rodea the Sky Soldier Limited Edition RPG Maker FES Limited Edition Scribblenauts Unlimited with Pencil Stylus Senran Kagura Deep Crimson Launch Edition Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Launch Edition Shin Megami Tensei IV Limited Edition Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Launch Edition w/Soundtrack Sonic Boom Fire & Ice Launch Edition w/ DVD Stella Glow Limited Edition Tenkai Knights: Brave Battle Limited Edition w/ Figurine Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Collector's Edition Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Limited Edition SlipCover's and Holographic Cover Art Amazing Spider-Man w/SlipCover Jaws w/ Lenticular Cover Art Cave Story w/SlipCover PES 2011 w/Holographic Front CoverArt Street Fighter IV w/ SlipCover WWE All-Stars w/Holographic Front CoverArt Nintendo Selects: Names Animal Crossing: New Leaf Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome Amiibo Disney Frozen: Olaf's Quest Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D Kirby: Triple Deluxe The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Mario Party: Island Tour Nintendogs + Cats Star Fox 64 3D Super Mario 3D Land Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Tomodachi Life Ultimate NES Remix Yoshi's New Island If anyone else shows anything else that I’m missing in terms of major variants, please let me know.
  3. I definitely saw them in my local KMart. Maybe that’s why they are hard to find now. Possibly it’s the only retail store they ended up in because I do not recall seeing most of those in any of the other major retailers, or even GameStop new. Maybe I missed them, but maybe that was the only retailer that was willing to take a chance on them lol.
  4. Anyone interested in variants? I’ve seen a few lists online that show the variants but most of them don’t seem accurate, at least the ones I’ve come across. No doubt Alien Chaos is harder to find. That’s a non argument as nobody is denying that. It’s probably a top 3 hard to find game on the 3DS. It doesn’t mean Crash City Mayhem isn’t also hard to find, though less so than Alien Chaos. I do believe Alien Chaos is decently harder to find, but the funny thing is I’ve actually came across and owned more copies of Alien Chaos than I have Crash City. I’m sure that’s mostly down to anecdotes, but when it comes to games that aren’t widely available it also shows how much difference there can be from one area to another IMO. Regarding it being readily available last week, that doesn’t mean it always is as it’s not readily available now at market value. The reason I mentioned the $150 price was to point out the only copy available is several times higher than market value, which kind of takes it out of the running for anyone who has any sense of the 3DS market to consider it. No idea what hype it has as I’m not basing it on other people’s opinions. This is just what I’ve noticed myself while hunting games. It’s way early in the 3DS lifecycle so lots can change, but right now I don’t see it pop up when I’m at game shops often at all.
  5. Never said it’s the same as Alien Chaos, but we also can’t pretend it’s “readily available” when there is only a single copy available at $150. The bottom line is it is hard to find and I do believe it will be harder to find then Atooi Collection, especially in complete/sealed condition. 99% of copies made for Atooi collection will be near mint complete or sealed in 10 years, where as that’s simply not the case for Crash City Mayhem. Also the value has absolutely nothing to do with how hard to find it is. Quoting the price is completely irrelevant.
  6. I see a single complete copy on eBay and no sealed copies. You don’t find it at most game stores in person, including GameStop’s complete. Guess we will agree to disagree
  7. I think it’s mostly hard core collectors that are interested in the Atooi Collection. The mainstream gaming market has either moved on, or probably had plenty of Nintendo 1st Party titles they can still choose from and even if the mainstream audience would be interested in the Atooi Collection, they probably aren’t even aware of Limited Run Games.
  8. Maybe we should start a Wii topic too, lol... I agree the Wii has more good games then it gets credit for. Sure there are a ton of shovelware games, but you are dead on that it has been labeled a shovelware system so people don’t give it a chance. I also think that there is sometimes a difference in what the mainstream market likes and what collectors like after the system is no longer a current gen system. For example, light gun style shooter games which are somewhat prominent on Wii, especially compared to other systems, probably resonate better with collectors then they did with mainstream gaming media that review it originally.
  9. For the most part the Atooi Collection are all going to end up in collectors hands and the majority will probably remain sealed. A lot of the other hard to find games have been on the second hand market and went through kids hands, non collectors hands, and GameStop where a lot of them have lost their cases and manuals or just tossed them. Barbie Gloom and Glam pups definitely will be harder to find barring a reprint or a pallet of new old stock being found IMO. Some I’d say MAY possibly be harder to find complete and definitely sealed would be Alien Chaos 3D, Heavy Fire, Crash City Mayhem, Girls Fashion Shoot, Fire Emblem Special Edition, FIFA 14, etc... That’s not to say that I think the Atooi collection will be plentiful. I think it will be up there, but since almost all end up in Collectors hands they won’t be lost and will be well taken care of with the majority remaining sealed.
  10. It’s surprisingly still up. I was also able to grab a copy and 4000 isn’t necessarily a super small print run, but I expected it would sell out much quicker. At least everyone that wanted should have no trouble getting it, but once it sells out it will be another story despite my belief that there are other games that will be harder to get complete/sealed.
  11. Thanks for the details. It would be nice to get pictures and possibly link to them, especially for some of the lesser known versions. What’s the best option to do that? Would it be to upload each picture to a hosting site and then just have a link to them? I’m sure we wouldn’t want to embed that many pictures but not sure if there is a different option m. Thoughts? Update: I updated the list and moved Fallout 3 GOTY to the regular slipcover section since it’s not Collectors Editions but just on the original First Prints. It’s mostly a normal slipcover, but the front does open like a book, but it’s only the front and doesn’t have any additional pages.
  12. No doubt if cart production remains for 18 months we will see reprints and I agree with both Atlus and Square being likely candidates. It all comes down to when Nintendo decides to move on I guess. Chrono Trigger and all of the DQ DS games had a reprint during that 2016 BF sale you mention. I picked up some of each for very cheap. In the long run those reprints didn’t really keep the prices low, I guess due to the lower overall sales and reprint size.
  13. If Nintendo keeps open 3DS cart manufacturing for 3 more years, then I think it’s a done deal and we will absolutely get reprints. I wonder though if Nintendo may end cart production sooner than that though. My understanding is Switch uses a different technology and that may lead to Nintendo deciding they can end 3DS cart production sooner. If it’s around in 3 years (even 18 months) then absolutely we will get reprints.
  14. Yea, I just think it’s a sign that Wii is starting to increase. Games like Twilight Princess will probably follow suit soon. I kind of expect a reprint of 3DS titles and definitely would hold off on buying titles over MSRP, but I can see Publishers just decide to go with offering titles digitally also. May depend on how much longer Nintendo will keep open 3DS cart manufacturing.
  15. Wii is also starting. Anyone seen what new copies of the non Nintendo Selects version of Mario Galaxy is bringing? I tried posting this above the quote, but it messed up the formatting... with Atoii Collection still releasing I guess they couldn’t have ended cart production. Normally this is something that we hear about before it actually ends. With that said, I do expect we will see some reprints, though with Covid and the fact that 3DS can still sell titles via digital distribution, it may cause Developers not to bother??? Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
  16. Thanks guys! Will add both to the list. Keep them coming and I’ll keep adding. Both look like Special Editions, but do they appear to be normal type SlipCovers? I wonder if I should split them into 3 categories. Normal SlipCovers, Collectors/Special Editions w/Normal style SlipCovers, and finally a third section for oversized, clear, box style, etc...? Anyone have any thoughts, or even care how they are categorized?
  17. Game arrived in excellent condition and was a good deal. Would definitely do business with again in the future!
  18. Right. Videogameplus.ca reprinted a lot of DS carts right before Nintendo ended DS cart production. Has Nintendo ended 3DS cart production? I don’t remember seeing anything on it so I kind of expect it at some point.
  19. Updated List. Added a lot that were missing. Still need to add details from each and may eventually work on linking to pictures if we have enough interest. Please let me know if there are any others missing. Edit: I tried to keep the top as mostly the normal SlipCovers, but it quickly gets into a grey area with dual packs and different types. If anyone has suggestions for moving any, please feel free to share. I definitely did want to denote what was mostly normal releases with Collectors Editions.
  20. Wow, that’s bad because I own a sealed copy of it lol. I still have to work on adding some to it, but definitely should have already had this one. Thanks!
  21. Just got another shipment in from videogameboxprotectors. Just wish they had more of the specialty cases though.
  22. I had a buyer say this on me once. I didn’t have to pay and if I remember eBay actually refunded him as well as a courtesy. It’s been a while though and who knows if that is actually common. Edit: In his case I believe it was delivered and stolen.
  23. Hope it’s not too difficult to land one of these.
  24. Not sure if anyone else has played Blowout, but I thought it was good for the price. Edit: Few others climbing but may be worth a look if you can get a deal and I don’t think they were mentioned. Viewtiful Joe Rogue Squadron II Battalion Wars Metroid Prime BloodRayne
  25. Hmmm...that’s the same forum I used to get the base list I started with, but that is a different thread with more info. Still missing a couple, but more than the other list. Will work on adding those missing so we can compile one that is hopefully the eventual definitive one.
