  1. I’m already in the green on AMC from earlier this year, so this is just fun money. I haven’t taken any profits yet, in fact I bought $60 calls this morning that expire tomorrow when it was down at $38
  2. Every sex scene I’ve ever read has been terrible, especially the ones that take over a book (stares in Patrick Rothfuss’ direction)! Be like Jim Butcher, write about the lead up to the sex and then end the chapter.
  3. Agreed, I’m always happy selling “too early” and taking a profit.
  4. I grabbed my first ever call this morning for AMC, wish I would’ve grabbed a lot more!
  5. What do you mean, free popcorn for shareholders!
  6. Been a fun day today! I sold enough earlier this year to make what I have left pure profit, so I’m riding this until 100’s!
  7. 2/10-recognize their importance/legacy but cannot listen due to Stipe’s voice.
  8. I cashed in a bunch earlier this year when it hit 19, but kept 750 shares and forgot about them. Pleasant to look at today and hope it pulls a GME!
  9. I like both songs, but prefer I Ran. My favorite will finish 3rd though.
  10. Started, and finished the latest Dresden book today, Battle Ground. A little heavy on the fighting for me, but very solid book all around and sets it up for some interesting plot lines moving forward.
  11. Yeah loved the first Aeronauts book. I also loved the Codex books but Dresden is definitely my favorite of his. I know all about thick boys, been contemplating starting Gravity’s Rainbow, but it’s intimidating in size and content!
  12. Oof, I haven’t sold many things over the years, but I sold a dead mint box and manual for that for $200 a few years ago. I got them one night being stubborn, telling myself I was hitting refresh until I found a juicy, video game BIN as I rarely have time to look. About an hour later a big box of Gameboy boxes and manuals are listed for $30, but the listing was confusing as it seemed like it was a multiple item deal by drop down menu and you couldn’t see everything. The package showed up and was full of mint boxes and manuals, lots of Mario, Zelda, random games, and this.
  13. Already finished it , great book, back to what I love about Dresden after it hit a couple book lull around Ghost Stories.
  14. Being an expert on a system, and understanding/accepting the market are 2 completely different things. I agree, there are risks to these prices, but my point from the beginning is that there is in anything, especially the stock market. There are plenty of people speculating/investing in these collectibles for future purposes, but just like cards and comics, there is also a group of people buying them to “buy back” their childhood, and don’t care much about the pricing.
  15. Good points, but I’m also heavily into another collectible market where there are population reports available for everyone (sporting cards) and what I’ve noticed is that low population is mostly a marketing term, not something that determines absolute value. It’s still more about the player/card than it is the population of the grade. For example, there are tons of PSA 10 Jordan Rookies, Trout Rookies and Lebron Rookie, but the price keeps rising, because there are still more people that want them, vs what’s available. I don’t think that’s any different than these sealed games of A1 titles.
  16. As long as the sealed/Wata games collected stay relevant, I.e Nintendo, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon are still industry leaders, I think these sales will continue to rise. More people play video games now, than ever read comics, and the comic collectible market of early releases hasn’t done too shabby.
  17. Finally getting to this one, after a 5 year hiatus since I read his last release. Nice to know there’s another one to read right after this. Suck it George RR Martin!
  18. I have a lot of stock in companies from decades ago too, and I believe that they are more likely to see a big dip than my collectibles any time soon. I am still actively adding to my collection, so paying current prices with no problem. Sure I wish I would’ve picked this stuff up years ago, but not worried about it going down in value. Disclaimer: While I have quite a lot of sealed games from purchasing lots over the years, I don’t actively buy or sell sealed games or anything graded.
  19. He said that the stock market is safer, and I don’t think that’s necessarily true. We have a couple decades worth of pricing history for these collectibles, and I have a couple decades worth of experience collecting them. I feel more at ease with my collection as an investment right now, than my stocks.
  20. People said that exact thing about the SMB that sold for $100,000. Guess what, it would sell for a hell of a lot more than that now. I’m not saying that some things might not be great buys/investments, but so far, we haven’t seen bag holders in video games, like there are in stocks daily. In general, getting in early in a collectible market like this, similar to comics and cards only reaps rewards.
  21. Is it actually higher risk, because from 2008-2011 my stocks got absolutely destroyed, while my games continued to rise, even starting their initial rocket up in value and haven’t seen any sort of crash since (ever), compared to the ups and down of the stock market that I am heavily invested in. For over a decade I’ve been seeing people post about a crash, a correction, etc... but the only constant is that people wish they would’ve paid the previous price for a game, that they held back on for various reasons.
  22. Read it today by the pool and liked it. I saw the movie when it came out, so I knew the general concept, but couldn’t remember how it ended, if it even ends the same. Hope to watch the movie again soon. More thoughts below.
  23. I’m sitting by a pool in Costa Rica for my honeymoon and what song comes on just now....a Rasta version of Midnight Oil
  24. Anyone that votes for Midnight Oil over The Outfield needs to have their head examined!
