Honestly, also, if we are looking 50-100 years down the line, I think the Switch could be a contender. The criticism that it is a glorified port machine is valid, but the sheer number of amazing games and counting on that platform is a force to be reckoned with.

I will be a N64 fan boy till the day I die, and I understand where people are coming from with the historical importance of the NES... That being said I think long term the SNES will forever stand the test of time. The sheer number of incredible games, variety of genres, unique collectibles like SFSW and DKCC carts, will make it stand out as the defacto all-rounder for the early Nintendo consoles. And while Mario might have saved gaming in 1985, there is a lot of historical significance with the SNES as well, with the rise of SEGA as a legitimate competitor, which led to the "bit races," which led to deals with Philips and Sony, which led to the PlayStation, which led to the Xbox. So I think it is completely fair to say that the SNES is equally as important to the history of video games as the NES. Tl;dr - SNES >> NES >> N64

Yeah, sometimes it helps to know the source material when vetting people's character claims but that's about it. The core rules of the game are the same.

This is tough, because we can try and grand stand about proper parenting all we want, but even good kids are put into tough situations and make poor choices. Let's say you have a couple teens whom you trust, and they have a small party, maybe you are even aware of, with a few friends whom you also trust. What is to keep more people than expected to show up and then, when your good kid suspects someone might've gone into dad's game room, is put into the terribly uncomfortable scenario of having to either A. Confront the person without 100% proof, or B. Let your game get stolen? I'd bet the house that with the social politics of high school, odds are much greater that your Little Samson is going bye-bye. This is a very realisitic situation and I think that a deadbolt or something similar is very reasonable. Especially if you don't normally keep those barriers up when you and your kids are at home.

I'm thinking of extending it by 24 hours, to see if we get any last-minute sign-ups and to to give me a chance to finish a couple things I still need to do. At the end of the day, though, I don't think we're gonna hit 25 unfortunately, so it looks like I might have to adjust a few things. Also depends how everyone feels. If there is a large portion of people who would rather we try and wait to hit 25 we can do that for a bit longer.

I am making very, very slow progress on SSSV. It's fun but holy shit is the camera bad in this game.

Donkey Kong 64 is DONE!! Had a ton of fun revisiting this one, and even went and got myself the hilarious secret ending for 101% completion. Even got all the unnecessary collectibles like every single regular banana and coin. I know, I'm a maniac.
