  1. this is a CIB variant not a cart Variant. you have no clue as to what region code is on the cart. you just aware it is a sealed CIB. with a Nortec as the regional Distributor. do you know where this was sold? at what outlet? how it was imported?
  2. IMO the stick is Distributor box variant for CIB set not the Cart Only Sets. items like playtronics, gig would be the region non-variant. when dealing with cart only you don't see the box and there for cant determine if they were a sticker box variant or just the region it was in. see below. <--- this one has a EU Cart and EU box but an GIG sticker so this is a Box Variant CIB. How do you classify this one?? ---> here is DT both are ITA both distribuited by GIG or even the platronic SW.. what one is playtronics and which one is a standard NA game? the one on the left is actually this is playtronic branded game. As for the world collection "Master List Cart Only" holds no place for the Box Variant carts as they are part of the box variant cib. and yes you can have to different regions with same box sticker variant. ie a dmg-ky-noe and a dmg-ky-ukv and both have the GIG sticker on the box. but the CIB for both is listed as a box variant to the GIG CIB set not the NOE/UKV cart only set..
  3. Distributor Box Variant: Through the life of GB and early GBA there were distributor BOX variants. so what come to mind are: Cyprus - EUR METOR - AUS Matel - EUR Mani - KOR/Hong Kong/CHINA GIG - ITA Playtronics - Bzl Lugina - EUR / SCN And many more While this contents of the box was add to the cart was never change in the start. in certain markets the items (ie incerst/instructions/magazine/posters) were adjust for the region. in other regions parts were shipped to a facility to be "assembled" due to heavy local import tax (parts were cheaper then the whole.) This is also where you get the photo copied Manual, locally printed black and white manuals (most of the time with no catalog code), and the locally printed color manual (most of the time with no catalog). This is also where you get the "stickers" on the boxes. later certain regional distributors were given exclusive right for the term of 2 or 5 years. This Exclusive allowed them to print there own label and boxes. best example is GIG, Lugina, Playtronics, Gradiente (just ones i can think of now). here is the gig for GB the box/cart/og manual/ and poster/reg card are all original. GIG add the B/W instruction and the GIG reg then place a sticker on the box without (to my understanding) replacing the wrap. Later, during Gig's exclusive contract time, any paper items had there catalog code changed (more specifically the region code) and the box was locally printed with their (GIG) logo. They also add the GIG insert for Club Nintendo and changed the reg address. the region code was then changed to ITA region as GIG was the exclusive distributor to that region. As for the one @phart010pointed to they started distribution in the smaller EU markets. which was later changed to GPS region (as i understand). (still working the total picture of the EU Distribution Network)
  4. more tidbit here for KI the KI was released in i think 95 Platronic was sold in 96 there it is possible see that Brazil had 6 games that had the wrong color cases. and in the EU market they have 1 that has the wrong case color (or different then US market). looks like i ll need to expand Brazil Gameboy real? to explain this more. @RH here is a little more info about the Brazil gameboy market.
  5. the yellow carts are from Brazil market. they were some suspect to be awards from contest (this is unconfirmed.) Nintendo of Brazil is no longer around and NOA is not answering any question about the Brazillian market so the data is hard to get. a few reporter from the brazillian game seen has reported that there are 20 titles in the original launch in 1993 again unconfirmed. if you wan to know more PM me i don't want to hijack the topic here.
  6. I now list these in my collection as NFR's the AKLP-FAH has a barcode chip under label i also just received a Donkey Kong Land ie DMG-YT-FAH that has the same barcode chip ( i have not photoed it yet) as for the US label in Brazil its possible but in the research shows that only 20 titles have a Playtronics label before NOA started to send completed games to Brazil and Playtronces just applied the S/N to outside and manual to give the illusion of assembled in Brazil..
  7. lol like this.... notice how the Donkey land and donkey land 2 are gray.
  8. the newest game for the MEGA WORLD COLLECTION. As of 7-13-2021 it's the second one to be seen. the other owner is the EPIC collector @NeXmetal i have to clean and re-photo but here it is in the pre-cleanup...
  9. @Naked WarriorIMO and in my collection it would be moded. but with that said i would if you offed at the time i get from you/seller i would take the old battery as it has some data that is needed for cataloging, and validation of the cart components.
  10. @phart010there are gb that are RARER then Stadium Events just not as expensive.
  11. This is what makes battery replacement accessible. i myself have a play set and i have a Collection set. the collection set is original no battery replaced the play section will it has the games that has had the batteries replaced and the reproduction items and move in an out of the "collection" and are identified as replaced so the next person who gets the game will know it is not 100% original.. @spacepupis the example of ethical player/collector imho.
  12. NO!!!!! are you? By replacing the battery you have altered the game from the original factory state. its just as bad, if not worse then replacing a broken / discolored case. It's no longer original. If the battery was to be replaced by the end user then it would have been designed that way. As this is not the case then any changes is consider modifications and no longer original.
  13. Id love to see a scavenger hunt over the internet and with your collection!!!!! ok now i have to think about this. i thinking a month long with a major prize. .
  14. IMO the sticker on the back is not a variant and they are ones i don't add to the WORLD set. no telling how many are real and how many are after market. the are easy to produce and the catalog code is no different. with that being said they are cool and in some cases the are more collectible then the original to some. Also being able to truly validate the sticker is hard. This is also the same with the Playtronic game out of Brazil. they have a group of games that don't have the playtronic label ie printed with in the label but they do have a little sticker on back with the Playtronic data. i first started to identify the games and then add to collection but i was finding more and more without the serial number, and this added to the Questionable authenticity of the game.
  15. @samsamsamsmasmasmawow! really! i know why i do but why do you? you are in the "NA(US) Game Boy Cartridge Variants" thread. on the other side thanks for the head up on LRG's next game. now lets see if they do toxie or potato next..
  16. totally agree. to me a game is a game regardless of what type. just to compare FOR GB everyone has a reproduction! like it or not. @Tanookinice set of milti carts.
  17. lol just reading the New Breed of Collectors this is one that points to why even. get the real game first...
  18. @Splain, this is my potion to get the SML -2 i not much for contest in games a i always loose, i can't win at a video game. shoot i can't win even in tetris but this "win" will help the world collection and @Splain can say in one swoop that the world collection will not go quietly in to the night and that this is for all the collectors who wish for a confirmed list of all games game boy. or something like that! so one vote for the little collector.
  19. here is my try. still working on the combo and the fact you can hold the mouse and drag is a welcome over clicking each..
  20. what kind of box did you use? did you double box?
  21. as for @minty, sorry your had such bad luck with a now poor company. but on the lighter side it's safe to say your not using wata again!! btw have you checked out @CasualCartgrading company i hear it is one top notch grader.
  22. to translate "@Startydeyou WATA employee? the defense is at the leave of a CS selling someone an upgrade." Dude you (@startyde) like work for WATA or what? You act like, you know, a customer service (that like "CS") person who's like only job is to sale upgrades services, because that is what the manual said to do.
