  1. I started this project Jan 3rd and I am 95% complete as of yesterday Jan 30th. I will be adjusting and tweaking forever in here but overall it is complete. For example the lights still need to be properly hung but I might change the orientation of them but time will tell if I like them the way they are. I am very happy with the final design and functionality of it. It opens up my game room an extra 2 1/2 feet! No more claustrophobic Sega corner!
  2. Glad you finally made it in! Welcome aboard @Mr. MSXplease enlighten us with your MSX knowledge. Ha ha
  3. This is the last of the original Tales I wrote. However, I have one more after this. The last Tale I plan to share is the by far the most interesting so I decided to save it for the Grand Finale. This is one of my more recent Kijiji deals. It is long-winded and painful to even attempt to explain. I have slowed down in my Kijiji Adventures ever since the market in my city exploded in the summer of 2012. Along with hunting for deals on Kijiji, I would also sell collectables I acquired over the years. Selling could be just as interesting as buying. It began with a listing I had for an Iron Maiden boxset called Eddies Archive along with some Judas Priest statues. One rainy day at work, I get an email proposing a trade for a Jabba the Hutt sideshow statue (wonderful statue) for the Iron Maiden boxset. I am not a massive Star Wars fan but I do go through phases where I do collect but very specifically Phantom Menace items (Fight me!). I thought about it for a while then came to the conclusion that it would be a nice trade for me. I then proceeded to make a deal with this guy. So we went back and forth for a week or so before we lined up a deal for the following Sunday at around noon. He wanted to meet in a notorious high traffic location, which was in a suburb just outside the city. This aggravated me right off the bat, since the traffic was in fact very heavy that day. Therefore, once I arrived I emailed him that I had arrived at the meeting spot since this guy never had a cell. I waited and waited but never got a reply. I figured I would make the waiting time useful and went to the local Canadian Tire (typical Canadian hardware store) I bought new windshield wiper blades for my truck and installed them in the parking lot.... still nothing. Horribly defeated, after 2 hours of waiting I went home. I was beyond pissed off. I was stood up. My first time when selling something. I will never forget the anger. However, this is not the end of the story. Oh no no no. It continues. You probably noticed that there was no mention of video games in this story! Well this happened 3 years ago and over the course of the next 3 years, this same guy had been bugging me to do a deal. Repeatedly I told him to “beat it, I am not interested”. Even when I needed some cash for a bigger purchase, I did not give in. “This guy messed me around. I don't need his business,” I told myself. When I confronted him about not showing up, he did apologize but stated that he does not remember setting up the deal, then claiming he had family issues and he does not drive and blah blah blah. Every time my ads expired on Kijiji and I reposted them, which is when he would contact me repeatedly. Finally after a long period of ignoring him, I began to reply with absurd propositions just to bugger him up. He screwed with me so I will screw with him. Childish I know, but satisfying. I would ask insane amounts of money for something or ask to meet up in 5 minutes. I tried to be an asshole to deter him, but he never stopped. This guy was determined to get something from me. I had sold most of the stuff he originally wanted, expect for one last item. An Ozzy Osbourne Prince of Darkness box set. He was very interested, so I asked if he had any video games. He mentioned he had a Final Fantasy VIII CIB (Greatest Hits) in minty condition. I finally broke and agreed to a deal my Ozzy set for his FFVIII. I had not done a deal in a while so I figured "what the hell". So once again, I was going to have to drive to the suburbs, the very same suburb that he had screwed me over once before. Yes, I know, I am stupid. I was to deal with a guy that screwed me over once already and a guy that was psychotically contacting me for 3 years. However, this is Kijiji and it is all a part of the glory that is Kijiji. Once again, I had to fight the traffic to get there. Once there, I parked at the meetup location and texted him. "Oh great" I thought, "at least he has a cell now". Guess what?? No reply.... shocked, I was not. Then this older dude comes walking out of the Tim Hortons (Canadian Starbucks) in a leather coat, extra large coffee in one hand a plastic shopping bag in the other. He noticed me right away and walked to my truck. I got out of my truck to greet him. I had the Ozzy boxset in a large clear non-Ziploc bag. This is where the most painful part of all of this began, if you can imagine. I will try my best to describe this excruciating experience. "Hello" I said as I extend my arm handing him the boxset and he did the same with the game. Then he proceeds to try to grab the bagged Ozzy boxset as he tries to hand me his FFVIII with the same hand. He is holding a coffee with the other hand remember... he was really starting to struggle and wiggle as he tried to do this with one hand. Awkwardly, I grabbed the bag out of his hand and put the bagged boxset in his hand. I said “thank you”. Then instead of returning the thank you back to me, he looks very displeased and said "can I have my bag back". I was kind of half stunned since the Ozzy boxset I just gave him was already in a bag. Then he starts trying to get the boxset out of the bag with one hand, since he is still holding a coffee with the other remember... Not using his knees for assistance or the hood of my truck, which was right in front of him. As painful as this is to read, it was just as painful for me to watch it. I then quickly took the game out of "his" bag and put Final Fantasy on my driver’s seat. I then snagged the bag he was still struggling with, pulled the boxset out dropping it back in “his” bag, and handed it back. A big smile arose from his face and he gingerly walked off swinging his bag in delight. I watched him walkway happy as a schoolgirl but I never did get a thank you. I sat back in my truck and reflected on the past 3 years of dealing with this guy. More recently the new baggie incident I had just witnessed. All the frustration melted away and turned into senseless laughter. It all made sense to me now; he was a few chips short of a circuit board. I put some video game tunes on and enjoyed the drive home, traffic and all.

  8. I have been doing a bunch of work to the closet but have not been sharing. It was a lot of trial and error with building the remaining shelves. There was a lot of “if I just move this shelf 2 inch’s I can fit more games and boxes in” so I would have to rework stuff tweaking over and over. It was a slow process but necessary. There was this very old 70’s stereo cabinet I just didn’t have the heart to get rid of. So I incorporated it into the setup. It was my parents originally then my older brother used it in the basement in the 90s. He spray painted it with a special paint. I then got it from him for my gaming setup back in the 2000’s. I actually had a mini bar in it during my early 20’s ha ha. (I have pictures of that somewhere). It’s old and beat up a bit but I reinforced it the best I could. It literally fit perfect. Like an 1/8th to spare! Was meant to be. Here is the final installation of the shelves. I will have to paint it all now. The lights are temp for now, I had to rework and upgrade my power supply to accommodate the additional lighting. More to come.
  9. Thanks man. But it’s long gone ha ha. I took really good pictures of it before I started to bust it down. I still use that tv to this day! It’s a beauty I got that sign from a dude on NA many years ago.
  10. Right!!!? That why I was so confused. Like it’s one of the most common, least desired game on the system ha ha
  11. This is definitely a minor tale but it stuck out for me and I figured it was worth sharing since it is about myself trying to sell on Kijiji. As stated numerous times before in other tales, emailing was an important part of dealing on Kijiji. I remember one time in particular that made me shake my head. Back in the year 2010, it was extremely common to be able to hop on Kijiji and find a NES with 2 controllers, the Zapper and 10 games for like $30. I had similar luck with systems like the Genesis or SNES. It seems like I could go buy these lots every other day at will. If only I had bought more back then! I recall on deal I did with a Mother selling off her sons NES collection. Her listing was not even accurate at all. There were different games in box than listed and the NES console had a SMB3 inside which was not listed. To top it off she was also very aggressive (in a nice way) trying to get me to take her vintage TV along with the console and games. It was obvious she just wanted this stuff gone and did not care about making money. I declined the TV and was very happy with that deal otherwise. My point being, that over a short amount of time I would end up with many doubles ready to be recirculated back into the market. This was a practice I am positive EVERY collector did back then. Buy a lot, take what you need and resell the rest to fund the next purchase. I fondly miss those days. Moving back to the tale at hand. One particular time I had built up a nice sell/trade pile and listed it on Kijiji. The huge lot consisted of: Nintendo System with hook-ups and RCA cable 2 controllers Zapper NES Advantage Joystick NES Code Book Carts Blades of Steel Chip and Dale RR1 Dragon Warrior Faxanadu Festers quest Friday the 13th Hogans Alley Ironsword CIB Operation wolf Othello Pac Man Quattro Adventure 4 RC Pro Am Rad Racer Shadowgate Silver Surfer Super Mario Bros 3 Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt Total Recall Willow Winter Games Wizards and Warriors I remember having a hard time moving the lot for a fair price, probably since there market was overflowing. I think I wanted somewhere around $200 CAN. I got so many lowball offers, which was and always will be common. Then one day I received an email from a man stating he wanted the lot and was happy with the price. I was delighted to say the least. As I often did (and still do when selling), I went through the games and double-checked to make sure the lot and the list on Kijiji listing matched. I was shocked to find that Othello was nowhere to be found. I search high and low but I must have made a mistake by listing it because who in there right mind would want to steel Othello from me??? I emailed him back right away and broke the news. “Othello is missing, and I will knock a few bucks off if that’s alright with you”. I did not think much of it since it was just an Othello cart… I had everything ready to go and was moving forward with arranging a time and place to meet. He replied shortly after “The deal is off! Othello was the main game I wanted in the whole lot.” I was like "What the...? Really? Othello?” My mind struggled to comprehend the situation. I replied trying to patch together the deal but he was completely not having it. That was that, never even made it past the email stage on that one. Who knows maybe he got cold feet and just used Othello as an excuse? Anyway I ended up selling the lot shortly after to girl who intended to give it as a gift for her boyfriends birthday. What a wonderful happy ending.
  12. Great memories man! Thats basically where we met haha That would be my glow in the dark WCW NWO blanket. Still use it almost everyday
  13. It was, ha ha. I had a full PA system down there. I ended up trading it to @Krunch many moons ago for a bunch of CIB NES games! Here is a picture with the console/mixer.

  15. Very vague topic title I know but I am looking to purchase a MSX2. Interested mainly playing Vampire Killer/Castlevania. I have done this all before to play Rondo of Blood, I purchased a Turbo Duo just to be able to play it on original hardware. I am not very familiar with the MXS2 at all so I figured I would ask her to get some info on which model to get. There are so many different models on eBay for all kinds of pricing. Any MSX2 master on here that can steer me in the right direction?
  16. FT Greetings, I am looking to trade this 2011 PS3 Twisted Metal Ice Cream Truck promo display piece. It is incomplete due to missing the guns and a piece of the bumper. Looking to trade for other promo pieces or merchandise. I prefer items from 1985-1999 but will consider all. Also interested in all official Castlevania items. Not looking to sell atm, I have no idea on price but will entertain offers if you are that interested.
  17. A bunch of new updates for the closet over the past few days. I put wood filler putty that’s for laminate around the pieces I fit in. Blends in better. Good enough Then I completed the right side for shelf. Each shelf is a custom measurement to accommodate the larger boxes I will be putting in there. All the materials used are recycled from materials I had already. I just got home from the hardware store with the remaining materials needed for the next section. Dam, this stuff is not cheap! Oh well it will be worth it. More to come..
  18. I don't know why anyone went after them NFT's when the Limited Run Castlevania Requiem Fan Bundle dropped the same day! If only the Konami Shop had physical art prints of some of those images...
  19. So far out of all the channels suggested this is one I have been binging so far. Very interesting to me. I do play guitar so its so interesting to see what scales the composers use. Highly recommended for video game music lovers!!
  20. This is me from a while back. The last pictures of myself in my old game room in the old house! I guess I kinda look the same. Its the only COOL picture I have of myself. I mean I'm holding an empty Gluten Free beer bottle right after filling my mug!
  21. Currently trying to legit beat Casltevania III Draculas Curse. I recall beating it in Jr High but I used codes.
  22. Yeah I hear ya. My first post in this blog series explains the content of the posts and Kijiji.
  23. Wait...? Did you actually think it was still up for grabs and you were gonna swoop in and snag it?? Like I would actually advertise a sealed Metroid that I left behind??? HAHAHAHA
