  1. I've seen 3D printed "risers" that allow a small amount of adjustment to the placement of the shelves. Then there are those C-clamps that allow you to move the shelves. I've also seen small shelves that clamp onto the metal frame and allow the display of a single PopVinyl. For anyone thinking of a Detolf, I recommend doing some kind of cross bracing on the metal frame. It allows the frame to stand up on it's own, and makes assembly *WAY* easier. I'd still say have a second person to make sure the glass sides don't accidentally fall though. For my Detolf, I used threaded rod (see the front edge of the shelf) cut to 14.5" and its pretty close to the diameter of the metal frame. I have one in front and back of each shelf, and they also double as mount points for my bar display lights. The only downside is that it's kind of a pain to tighten the nuts holding the threaded rod at each end. There is space between the end of the rod and the glass side, its just very awkward.
  2. I used to have the lights you can find at IKEA, but they gave off a horrible yellow tint. If you buy lights, I recommend white/cool white. Your items will look much, much better. I found those lights (both the puck and bar) on Amazon.
  3. Switched browsers, and got pictures to work. Here is my Detolf (Revision 3) You can't see the brush seal, but I have that & some seal foam all around the door.
  4. Apparently we are an elite commando team of video game players doing the impossible: always having potion ready to refill our life meter.
  5. Yeah, pictures aren't uploading correctly for me for some reason. Yes, the brush seal has "give" to it to allow you to open the door. If you measure correctly, you can find seal that comes up to the edge of the door, and doesn't actually stop it from closing.
  6. I have a lone Detolf to display figures and such (currently Godzilla & Back to the Future). I've (mostly) sealed up the gaps, and added lighting, cross bracing, and feet that make it look like its "floating" What you have to do is buy self adhesive brush seal/self adhesive foam seal to close up those gaps, and you can add that with removing the door (at most). After I finished the sealing it up the first time, I never had to dust it out.
  7. I'm gonna go ahead and say "Nintendo Hard" isn't really a thing. Most of those games are "hard" because of crap controls, or iffy hit detection. If NES games were that impossible to beat, then nobody would have every made it past the Speedbike level. But this talk does remind me of the time I remarked that I beat "Link's Awakening" without dying. Someone said "Wow, you must be an expert player!". LA isn't a hard game.
  8. The Wii has one game that guarantees it stays in my possession: "Muramasa: The Demon Blade". That game was beautiful, and a blast to play.
  9. I did like that beginning in the rain. But I have to be honest and admit I've never actually finished "A Link to the Past". I rented or borrowed, but I couldn't get very far. I owned it, but never played it. Link's Awakening? I conquered that one. I finished that game without the Guide, no notes, and small tidbits of info from Nintendo Power. The 8th dungeon was a friggin pain flying blind. As for the SNES itself. I can't score the system without remembering that the SNES era is where I ended up disliking Nintendo as a company. But even as someone who will profess endless love for the Genesis, I can say this: 1. Turtles in Time > Hyperstone Heist 2. The US redesign of the SNES is ugly, ugly, ugly. But that Super Famicom/PAL SNES is a one sexy beast.
  10. I actually preferred the gameplay improvements made in "Link's Awakening" over "A Link to the Past". Namely, the ability to raise the shield on your own, and being able to assign weapons to A or B. I really, really missed being able to raise the shield.
  11. NES will be #1, because it was my first console. I logged a lot of hours playing Mario 3, lots. My friends all had one as well, so we would borrow each others games. Gameboy gets a honorable mention. LOZ, Mario Land games, Kirby, Metroid 2...lots of fun there. I really need to get a backlit Gameboy!
  12. Zardoz is a movie that doesn't need an introduction. You come for the Sean Connery, and leave utterly confused. From the few bizarre scenes I do recall, I'd argue that Zardoz would've made more sense as a video game.
  13. If someone enjoys being in that close of proximity to a cactus, I'm thinking they already enjoyed the tied up part. What about "Zombie Nation"? A giant, floating samurai head shooting helicopters, etc.
  14. I loved the movie (and the comics) for the NES and The Smashing Pumpkins references.
  15. I honestly can't remember if I've ever played a single Jaguar game. Were there in store Jaguar kiosks? I vividly recall playing 3DO, PSX, and Saturn kiosks, but not the Jaguar.
  16. I guess I'd give this a 5/10. I've owned it since 2003, and almost finished the game. I also haven't played it since 2003. It's alright, certainly better than SA2. I lost interest in that game after 3-4 levels.
  17. I just found out that Windows 10 can format FAT32 is you use the command prompt/PowerShell. I haven't really had anything that required FAT32, so I learned something new! And you shouldn't need to format the higher capacity (over 32GB) SD cards, they should come formatted as exFAT. But you are indeed correct with your SD card reader. SDXC didn't appear until 2009, so your laptop *is* gimping your cards.
  18. I cannot remember where I saw this (most likely a ToyFair magazine), but this (paraphrased) comment was made: "Donatello is always a nerds favorite ninja turtle." To which, I agree.
  19. I've been interested in ways to play Saturn games without using the optical drive. I knew there were replacements that replaced the laser with an SD Card reader, but I didn't know there were "Plug and Play" ones. Windows 10 can format to exFAT, but "SD Card Formatter" is a wonderful for times when Windows isn't playing nice/SD cards aren't formatting properly. I can't recount all the fun I had with flash drives, Linux distributions, RaspberryPi's and reformatting.
  20. I think "RARE" (or R@RE!) really lost all meaning the moment it was applied to copies of "Super Mario World". I think FireHazard51 is right with the word "elusive". I have some games that are worth what they are because they are elusive, not because they were produced in a small quantity.
  21. Social media platforms usually made me feel like I was screaming into the void. I had some absolutely wonderful moments on Twitter for sure, but I also quit Twitter so.. I do feel I'm in my element on a forum though.
  22. This is my return to video game forums after 10 years of dormancy. Lurked on some forums way back, but never actually made it to NintendoAge or SegaAge. I’m a veteran of the late 8-bit and 16-bit era, so it shouldn’t shock anyone when I say my favorite systems are the NES and Genesis. I discovered this site while searching for someplace to trade/sell old game magazines, but doing that, it made me realize I missed the fun of discussing video games. I tried to do that with social media, but it never really provided the discussion fix I wanted.
