  1. Man thats probably what would happen if I tried to resolder something (my hands are so shaky) and exactly why I bought a replcaement board for an arcade cabinet instead of recapping it myself, leaving hte old board for a someday project. Have a lot of respect for people who are able to work with electronics this way. If you take on the project of trying to fix this I'd definitely be interested in seeing your progress!
  2. I'm looking at a very high priced complete copy of ChronoTrigger, and while I'm not ready to buy it I keep looking at the listing since its in such nice shape. I was going through photos of the cart though and spotted this: Specifically, the M/SNS-ACTE-USA MADE IN MEXICO print. Its pushed right up against the left edge and I haven't seen that before. I have noticed the Made in Mexico labels sometimes look different than others though so I was wondering if somebody more seasoned in SNES collecting has seen this before in a valid label, or if this is a good indicator of a reproduction label?
  3. bump! removed some stuff i found and added some more wants
  4. Bump with updated wants. Open to trades and purchases
  5. Hey all! I hope this isn't an annoying question but I only own one sealed game (my favorite as a kid - Crystalis) and I'm ci sidelong having it graded for preservation. I've looked at their examples for sealed games but am not quite sure about specifics (like bunching around around edges.) I am wondering if those with experience with sealed games and getting them graded if this would be likely to be an 8+? Ofc I don't expect anybody here to give me an actual grade estimate but wondering if some of the issues here are ones that could have a big impact in your opinion. Or is it really worth it anyway since I have the game for myself? Mostly worried that a lower grading may not make it worth the money. Mainly a bit of white on one corner, little bit of sticker left on front bottom right, a very snall puncture in back seal, and some bunching around edges. Should I go for it? I'm of course super paranoid about shipping ruining it but that's a different issue
  6. Grew up in Milford and lived half my life there before moving to the west coast. I worked at the Drive In theater for many years and one of the best jobs I've had. Funny with how few there are still around there was a 2 screen one there. Crazy to come across another person who has even heard of the town let alone work there
  7. I was a web engineer for many years (and technically still am if you look at my resume) but I lead a development team now for a fairly complex project so I haven't written code in quite a while. I work for a large gaming company though and love what I do since it contributes to the industry so if meetings most of my day is the tradeoff I'll take it
  8. Bump with some random items for sale!
  9. That's a ton of really good info, thanks @Tanooki! None of my games had boxes and I remember now buying the system and some games as a bundle at an ebgames sort of place when I first got it
  10. I'm looking to clear out some games I've had for a while that I never really played and don't need to hang onto from various systems. One is a copy of Faselei! for Neo Geo Pocket. Looking through sold listings on eBay there aren't many to begin with, but those that did sell are either the Japanese version or version NEOP00900 which was before the "E" ESRB rating was added. The sold listings on PriceCharting referencing ESRB version are too old to view on ebay and theres multiple so I'm not sure they even sold. Does anybody know something about this variant (NEOP00901) and if it affects the value at all (positive or negative) compared to the first one? My other Neo Geo Pocket games I had from when I bought the system myself when I was in school but I dont remember playing this once much.
  11. I'm still working on my loose licensed US release games and want to get some of the heavy hitters out of the way (Panic Restaurant, Bonk's Adventure, Zombie Nation, etc) in very good condition (but not graded.) I'm also still looking for a ton of loose NES games I don't yet have (including 3/5 screw variants) - the full list of what I have remaining will be kept reasonably up to date here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jPhDHRQdCVoYvwHxrla-HAeMeE8WN4ZRlnpMwEBvt8o/edit?usp=sharing if you have loose carts on this list in good condition or better let me know! I'm willing (and prefer) to buy in lots and am willing to buy a bunch at once to make it worthwhile for both of us. Help me complete my licensed set! Random stuff: BROKEN/BUSTED Smoke Gray N64 controller - I have a smoke gray controller that is in minty shape (esp controller) but the last owner's dog apparently chewed the controller plug to shit. It can't be repaired so I want to pull the controller cord from another controller and use it for this one. THE CONTROLLER WILL BE GUTTED so ideally I'm looking for a cheap controller that will be used for parts aside from this cord, so the worse condition the better! I'm also looking for good condition CIB copies of the following: NES stuff: Loose heavies - Bonks Adventure ($800), Panic Restaurant, Zombie Nation, Gun-Nac etc Crystalis (sealed) Smash TV CIB BattleToads CIB Miracle Piano CIB (alreayd have cart/cable/user guide/registration card) Castlevania 2 manual Power Glove (CIB, or complete in good condition) A couple of nice condition NES Loose consoles (fine if they need cleaning/PIN repair) Original Game Boy CIBs: TMNT 2: Back From the Sewers N64 CIBs: Bomberman 64 Duke Nukem 64 Killer Instinct 007 Goldeneye SNES CIBs: CIB Console - 2 controller Super Mario World set ($250 complete & in great shape) Earthbound ChronoTrigger Super Mario World GENESIS CIBs: CIB Console Haunting Phantasy Star games Comix Zone Theme Park (manual only in vgood+ shape) GameCube CIBs: CIB Console Beyond Good and Evil Chibi Robo Pikmin 1 Limited Run Games: Firewatch (PS4) To the Moon (Switch) - if you have an extra pre-order I will pay you to send to me when it ships Magnavox Odyssey: I'm also looking for complete original Magnavox Odyssey games (incl shooting gallery)
  12. My wife and I ordered something from Doordash one night from a fried chicken place. The guy had another delivery first (not uncommon) and went to that location first even though it was further away - so it was probably an hour from the time he left the restaurant to getting to our door. Not a huge deal - fried chicken tenders are still good at room temp. BUT... the guy shows up at the door empty handed. Tells me that he had another delivery first with the same name as mine, and supposedly gave the person BOTH orders. I call bullshit on that since he knew he had another delivery and no other food, but thats what he said. Then he claimed that he realized his mistake after he left and went back but the customer wouldn't respond. He said he couldnt get ahold of me by cell phone so he drove all the way to the house to tell us that he didn't have our food. So I call Doordash of course to get a refund and order from another place. 10m later the guy comes back to the house to tell me he's "trying to figure it out with Doordash" and I explained I took care of it and sent him away. Definitely the worst and most frustrating delivery experience. Waited nearly 2hrs total for our dinner and ended up empty handed. Thankfully a place nearby was still open Insanity. Absolutely no way the guy should be asking somebody for their PIN number but even if they gott worked up about it for whatever reason the reaction he had was completely inappropriate under any circumstances let alone speaking to a custom when he's at work. Totally agree with Jfreakofkorn , I would expect the driver would get disciplined pretty hard if you reported it. I can't imagine that they'd brush it off and instead leave you to go write reviews about their business and how their drivers act
  13. I purchased a lot recently and it came with a SNES that was in a Super Game Boy Set box. It was only the box (not even styrofoam) that was used as storage for the console. I don't have the room to display it and am unlikely to find the Styrofoam by itself, so would rather sell the box to somebody who could use it for display (or replace a worse condition outer box) Problem is that this set seems to be pretty rare and pricecharting only shows 1 sale in the last year so have no idea if that was a good price, or somebody overpaid. It was so long ago I can't even view the listing to see if it included Styrofoam. How would you guys value something like this when comps are hard to find? Start high and just keep lowering it?
  14. I personally don't really get Collector's Edititions unless its a game/franchise I am super into and want to spend the extra to show support and have something unique to show for it. I will say I regretted buying the Diablo III collectors edition box though - the stuff seemed cool at the time but the box is huge and takes up a lot of space, and its not really worth the space it takes in the closet. But I did recently accept a trade that included Valkyria Chronicles 4 collector edition for Switch, because I love the series and its relatively small overall. And since the only switch games I have are regular CIB ones it'll be nice to have something a little "showier" to have on the shelf next to them.
  15. Bump - finally added some photos in once place
  16. Bump - removed loose carts, replaced with my list of boxes/CIBs for sale. Make me an offer or let me know if you need pics!
  17. To encourage me to fill in all my missing carts, I bought a ton of reproduction dust sleeves for one of my shelving units and using real ones for the other (I'll swap them out as I get more authentic ones) and then spaced everything out alphabetically. so now instead of moving betweent shelves every time I add something and having no idea what I still need - its not super obvious what's missing and where to put stuff! Its already getting me to work on filling gaps with common carts
  18. My dog (on the left) passed away just last month - at 16.5 years old- but this recent picture is one of my favorites. The other dog is my wife's (and mine now too of course)
  19. That's an interesting distinction. Would you claim counterfeit vs reproductions because it was not marked clearly that the item was a fake, whereas a "reproduction" one might expect to be clear that is the case rather than relying on close inspection/opening of the cart to verify?
  20. I actually miss getting payouts via PayPal (though the instant fee deduction vs invoicing is really nice) - mostly because then I can re-invest what I earned back selling off duplicates back into more games more easily. I can definitely do that with a credit card now for buying more but between that and deposits into checking, I'll probably have way more questions from my wife about the amounts I'm dealing with when buying vs selling vs buying more games than I would otherwise I also echo the sentiment from sg17 above - using PayPal on various sites is great for me because I don't want to be giving my actual credit card numbers to all these random websites. In the case of eBay who owned PayPal anyway I am not as much concerned.
  21. I settled with the guy on a $600 partial refund to cover replacement cost if I were to buy the 2 that were reproductions at the avg sale cost over the last 3 months on ebay, and accepted that as far as CIB I should have asked explicitly but felt assuming the games were authentic was reasonable. He agreed without any hassle, and I don't have to pack up and ship back 100lbs of video games and systems. He claimed ebay told him that they wouldn't side with me, which I didn't believe, but his willingness to settle worked out in my favor. From talking to him I expect he didn't know they were reproductions (its his personal collection over his lifetime) so he took my word for it with the pictures. Thanks to all of you for your input and suggestions! In the end I still overpaid a bit given the missing manuals and such but they're easy enough to replace and I'll have a nice bunch of CIB games to add to my cart collection Just the size of the lot overall and all the new stuff I got still makes it pretty exciting. That said, anybody want to buy a box only for the SNES Super Gameboy set? Don't think I'll get around to completing that myself unless i miraculously find styrofoam/inserts
  22. I was thinking just that - a note in my spreadsheet for my collection that it's a repro as well as maybe a small mark in marker somewhere on the back of the insert so its easy for me to tell. I definitely prefer authentic for my insert stuff as well (including styrofoam!) but for my own sake not having the box fall apart is definitely first priority
  23. As part of a lot I recently received I have a few SNES games that are missing various pieces. Manuals are pretty straightforward b ut a number of games are missing the cardboard insert as well. My question is from a collecting/resale perspective, what are people's opinions on reproduction cardboard inserts for CIB games? It certainly makes the presentation and completeness feel a lot better, but I'm wondering if it would be misleading for a collector if I were to sell or trade these later and the cardboard was not authentic (esp if I've forgotten by then.) What are your guys' thoughts on it? I'm thinking of getting some anyway so my boxes are stable but if it might present an issue for future collectors/buyers I want to make sure I'm keeping trakc of which ones I replaced myself. I suspect a couple have them already anyway based on how loose they are. Thanks for your thoughts
  24. Part of me wants to say if this was before I bought my house and I had that kind of money sitting in the bank then maybe I would do it ... but I'm not sure how I'd feel actually if I just bought the whole set complete. Would be pretty rad to have everything on display and play it, but then what's left? Maybe variants I guess or trying to complete the set... tho after spending 60k on the set I probably wouldn't be spending any more
