Oh, believe me, I had no such delusions.  Any movie made after 1999 is probably gonna flop.

  3. I'm like 90% sure I've seen Pussycat, but there's so many weird 60s movie of that ilk (all shot in Southern California) that they all kind of run together in my head.  But I'll check it out (again) either way.

I couldn't wait and watched Streets of Fire again last night because I love it too much.  I'll probably watch all the nominees each month 😆

    This is classic. FYI --

The essay is fake (but still cool) and was posted to Twitter by comedian Phil Jamesson in 2022. While not real, I'm really curious how many real such essays have been handed in?

I mentioned in the reading thread that awful horror anthology I bought from a local author.  It's about on par with that Mario essay 😂

  5. Yeah, I would say this problem is endemic to the entire industry at this point, and will likely only get worse.  These studios will be shut down or spun up as needed, which is just awful for the peons.

Except, maybe it's not as bad in Japan.  Nintendo doesn't do anything like this as far as I know.

  6. Again makes me think of the book Press Reset, where it's laid out that these teams are basically contractors, and that the AAAs have realized they don't want to pay salaries for teams that do not have anything immediately in the pipeline or that's gonna deliver a return.

Really makes it look like a line of work to avoid at all costs.
