Heritage Auctions Thread
tidaldreams replied to ExplodedHamster's topic in Sealed & Graded Collecting
I think it's because these are garbage platinum hits version. Bioshock at least has something interesting with it (10/10 sticker) which seems a bit rarer than the normal variant. -
MinusWorlds.com debuts Tuesday- Thank You!

Yeah, as a buyer there is virtually no risk because the seller takes on all the risk, which is why most sellers would only ship internationally through GSP. Ebay takes on all the risk for whatever happens to the item after it reaches their warehouse. There's tons of stuff that can go wrong - customs can f with your package, crappy postal service in the destination country, etc. I totally buy stuff internationally as well (well mostly from Canada since it's NTSC), because there is no risk as a buyer. -

This is a great point. I get a ton of international sales, all of which are through GSP. And I actually prefer them because once the item reaches the ebay warehouse, whatever happens after ain't my problem. Cutting off international customers would be a huge detriment IMO. -

This website looks incredibly unprofessional in its current state. This entire page is completely broken: I'm guessing there is supposed to be a graphic on the LHS and not sure why there is a random play button that doesn't do anything. This question and answer are complete nonsense. Some grammar errors. This button is completely broken. -
Ok, i'll be the elephant in the room here. @Jared_Goldinauctions or @Domuhnator care to comment on shipping $45k of raw 1st edition pokemon cards to smpratte in sandwich bags and bubble mailer situation? Namely, how in the f*cking hell could something like this happen? I mean, the most of the cards weren't even sleeved... Not trying to be mean or anything, but as a prospective buyer who would be spending (significantly) less money than him, I would like some assurances that something like this doesn't happen to me.

What happens if the game (i.e. the WATA or VGA case) gets damaged on it's way to you or the buyer or you or the buyer claim it's not what we shipped? Also, how would we get paid? Can you also describe exactly how you would be packing the package to the buyer (if you are repackaging it)? Don't want no 45k of 1st edition pokemon cards being shipped in sandwich bags kind of situation to go on here. I would be willing to post 50+ WATA and VGA games on your website, but I don't know you or ever dealt with you before. My ebay feedback speaks for itself (never received a neg, and most of my feedback is from selling), so I have no intention of getting scammed. -

I'd argue that I can perform better in this market if population reports were not available, at least for the games/systems I'm familiar with (so NOT NES and definitely NOT Atari ), so I'm in no real rush to get them. I'm not that immoral though, so I definitely advocate for them. Just thought I'd mention that because I'm sure there are others out there with the same thought, even though they'll never admit it publicly. Oh, and the slow turnaround time is a completely valid point. I'd doubt anyone would argue that I rant about WATA all the time, and they definitely pull a lot of shit. But all legit grading companies have slowed to a halt all of this year so any alternatives would not be much better. The only ones with a decent turnaround time are the sketchy ones formed out of people's basements.

I don't know what Deniz said in 2018, but it is possible that what he said has been misconstrued to what he actually meant. Anyway, I was just saying because of how terrible their data seems to be in general and the combination of letter and numerical grades (in addition to the multiple variations of a single game), this is not a simple task to implement. I'm not a WATA fanboy. In fact, I'm not a fan of any company. I am a fan of money though, and as long a company continues to make me money I will continue to do business with them. Also, not sure what him being demoted has to do with anything. I couldn't care less about that. Forgot to mention that some random guy on youtube ranting is far from a PR scandal. All he did was bring up a bunch of facts that have been in the public domain for years and made it into a digestible format for the masses. I'd say I knew at least 75% of what he mentioned already and I don't even follow this endeavor too closely. Oh, and sorry if my writing is not as eloquent as yours. I'm not a Harvard lawyer after all

I honestly can't believe that WATA would take so long for anything, but I only use speed run. My PSA return is taking that long, but I only paid $9/card for PSA. WATA charges a lot more.

I'd say you've got another good 4 months to go, unless you used WZ.

What is the best way to maximize profit for legit, gem mint CIB items?
tidaldreams replied to RH's topic in Price Check
Ok there is another way. Be like this guy and just list it in "brand new" condition, say it's mint and unplayed, and just completely mess up the sales comps/brand new filter in general. https://www.ebay.com/sch/Video-Games/139973/m.html?item=175022733342&epid=1137&hash=item28c02af81e%3Ag%3AO~EAAOSwzRpe5u5i&_ssn=suzydicus -

Well the timeframe is definitely an issue, but it looks like you are looking to maximize profit and there is literally no other way. You could sell it raw but no one will pay such a high premium unless they will grade it themselves. Even then, they would budget risk of getting a lower than expected grade and need to make a profit themselves, so they would buy it at a less optimal value. -
doesn't matter, just send it in that's a pokemon stonk!
