I just finished Red Rising, which turned out to be more of a Hunger Games Ripoff than I expected but still enjoyable. Next up is Silence of the Lambs for VGS Book Club, then Fall of Hyperion on deck.

I just picked it up yesterday, I'm going to start it after our October book.

I finished Immortals: Fenyx Rising on the Switch tonight. It's described as a BotW clone, and that's exactly what it is. I didn't enjoy the puzzles and platforming as much as BotW but I thought the combat was much more dynamic. It took just under 31 hours, including a couple extra hours worth of grinding.

If anyone is interested, GameStop is offering $30 for joy cons right now, $33 if pro member. That would make it $14-20 to "upgrade" to a new set.

Hmmm... I've been having trouble with Imgur since I got a new phone so I switched to Google Photos.
Can everyone else see them?
nope, couldn't before and still can't.

Excited about the N64 and Genesis games. Hope the add on membership won’t be too expensive.
I wish they would do Virtual Boy so much. They really missed out on a great opportunity with the 3DS. I know the Switch isn’t capable of 3D, but I’d settle for 2D.
The Switch has literal VR modes for multiple games. It'd give people one more reason to use their Labo headsets.

With Square sticking with the Triangle Strategy name, it makes me think the story is so boring and forgettable they couldn't even pull a good name from it.

While my wife was giving birth, her nurse gave her Sprite and grape juice over crushed iced, and she been obsessed with it ever since. I second OJ and soda water, frankly any juice and soda water as I find straight juice just too sweet.

"So when his assistant tells him about a ghost for sale on an online auction site, he immediately puts in a bid and purchases it."
"The ghost, it turns out, is the stepfather of a young groupie who committed suicide after the 54-year-old Coyne callously used her up and threw her away. Now, determined to kill Coyne..."
Yo, fire that assistant. It's called due diligence!

This project based in London still has 8 days to go but has raised almost 10X the initial goal of $24,000. Slated to release December 2022, you can get the GBA ROM and Steam code for $25, or you the physical release for the GBA with box and manual for $61. The NSW version is expected to release December 2023 for $25 digital or $49 physical. For $61, you can get the physical release for the GBA with box and manual.

Casual box? It’s going to be full of Madden’s and Call of Duties
I’m down
I'd be happy to see a Madden Championship Edition for Genesis, Call of Duty not so much.

Maybe add a "no magnets" rule this time.

I'm up for it and down with it.

My mother and I listened to it on the radio on the way to school. My first class of the day was a 2 hour block of 10th grade US history. This was in California so it was already 11 EST by then and we just watched news coverage, I don't remember us talking about it.

I finished this morning and I was kind of back and forth on this one.
SpoilerIt started engaging and the first story from Hoyt was interesting but by the time he finished, I had already forgotten about the rest of the characters in the main story and I found that kind of annoying. Then get a little further with the main story before going on another 40 page tangent with Kassad. I knew nothing of this book before starting it so I didn't realize how it was structured, so it took me awhile to get it. It's very well written but another thing I'm not a fan of was the ending or lack there of. Unless there is something ending, don't end the book. Instead it felt like halfway through the second act, the publisher came in and took the manuscript away saying, "times up".

October 2021 Spooky Read: Silence of the Lambs
in Monthly Reading

I had never seen or read this story until now and only had the typically pop culture knowledge of it. I finished the book yesterday and watched the movie today. Both were good but I didn't think they were anything particularly great. I do appreciate the movie did follow the book so closely but it did take a lot of the suspense out.
