Finished it. Title story was great. A few others were okay. Rest were pretty weak.
I agree, but I didn't even think the title story was that good. Cool concept but the writing felt like it was trying too hard to sound grandiose. The other stories didn't seem to have the same airs.

NIS America ran another print for Ys VIII and has it in stock for $40.

I'm down to clown this round.

@Kguillemette I would also suggest 3M if you're looking for American made long term holds. They've raised dividends for the pass 63 consecutive years and the EX date is in 2 days.

Heard good things about Jungle Cruise. Is that available already? Though it was still in theaters.
It came out on Friday to all subscribers. I watchted it with the kids, it ties the ride to the movie in the first 5 minutes, then goes off on an Indiana Jones style adventure. It's worth a watch.

I'm applying to a graduate program starting in the Spring and am tasked with writing a resume and I'm not sure exactly how to approach it. It's an Educational Counseling M.A.Ed and I do not have any applicable experience to list. I was laid off during the beginning of the pandemic and spent the past year and a half caring for my kids while they attended online school. Just this past Summer, we moved to a new city and the kids have gone back to school in person, but my wife and I thought it best for me to continue staying at home to make sure their transition went smoothly. Unfortunately, that's 2 years gone that I could have been bolstering my experience while finishing my BA. I do have some applicable coursework but not much else besides. The admissions advisor said the resume isn't that important compared to references and a 5 page autobiographical paper, but I still don't want it to be a deciding factor against me.

I got 2 more copies of Pocket Games off eBay last week that just arrived yesterday. It was $40 shipped (down from $50) for the 2 which is more than I'd like to spend, but they're in really good condition.
And here's my GameStop gets from this week. The Smash is CB only and the disk is kind of beat but for $25 it was an ok deal. The Monkey Ball was really nice and complete for $12. The New 3DS XL was $150, so pretty average for the market, but since it was in such good condition, I grabbed it.

It look like a card turn based rpg? I'm not 100% but seemed fun to pick up.
It's deck building Monopoly. You buy land but instead of putting hotels, you place monsters and such. If you land on an enemy square, pay the toll or usurp it. I bought the LE on release. Thankfully the worst thing about the game is the cover art. That guys abs always weirded me out.

It may also crash and burn like the majority of Trump’s business ventures.
1300% increase in one day... I think he already made his money.

Do you think it still has room to grow? Is it going to be a new platform with a huge following, or is it just a publicity stunt that will get abandoned?
Yes.

@Aguy where do you get that? That looks like it would be a fun magazine to read, but I'm guessing it's long out of print? I used to read a website with the same name (I think) but it was UK based.
I've just been getting them off eBay. Most are listed pretty high ($20+ each) so usually have to throw out best offers, which makes it slow work. This was the EGM version of NPA. The first issue was Summer/Fall '99 and billed as the unofficial GBC magazine. It made it to the DS/PSP era, but I'm not sure exactly when it ended.
There are some archived here: https://archive.org/search.php?query=subject%3A"pocket+games"

Recorded live 20 years later and it still sounds exactly like the album version. WARNING: EXTREME LEVELS OF SAX.

GameStop comes through for me again. The past two weeks they'd been running a trade in bonus on everything so I was hoping they might get some more older and uncommon games. The Lunar 2 was sitting in the back for a couple days and the employee only brought it out when I asked about "retro" games. It is complete with all the extras and was $40. The Yo-kai Watch 3 was found a couple days later for $50, still a decent deal. The NP Advance was from eBay and I'm happy to get such a nice copy as this was the magazine walkthrough I used 20 years ago playing Golden Sun for the first time.

Any insight on Stanley Black & Decker? I've been watching it for the past month, waiting for it to hit $175. It's been sliding for the past 5 months, from $220 in May, but now I'm thinking it hasn't bottomed out yet.

I had never seen or read this story until now and only had the typically pop culture knowledge of it. I finished the book yesterday and watched the movie today. Both were good but I didn't think they were anything particularly great. I do appreciate the movie did follow the book so closely but it did take a lot of the suspense out.

I just finished Red Rising, which turned out to be more of a Hunger Games Ripoff than I expected but still enjoyable. Next up is Silence of the Lambs for VGS Book Club, then Fall of Hyperion on deck.

I just picked it up yesterday, I'm going to start it after our October book.

I finished Immortals: Fenyx Rising on the Switch tonight. It's described as a BotW clone, and that's exactly what it is. I didn't enjoy the puzzles and platforming as much as BotW but I thought the combat was much more dynamic. It took just under 31 hours, including a couple extra hours worth of grinding.

December 2021 Read!
in Reading Ideas

WoT is on my read list but since Amazon announced the show, I figured I'd just watch the show and wait to read as typically the book is better. The internet is really baggin on it since it strays from the book so much but I'm enjoying it a lot.
