Wait, is this going to be a LARGE flat rate box, or a small one so we can put smalls in the box?  I ask because though it says a large box, I didn't know if that was intended to be updated after the details were copied.  Isn't there a medium Priority Mail box?  Those big boxes are expensive and, as much as I love participating, since I already have a lot of the common handheld stuff I'm looking for.

Of course, I have a TON of IB DS/3DS cases, so I could put some stuff like that in there, but I'm not interested in sending out a $30 box that I might not get much out of.  I would take a chance on a package that's about $15 or less, though.

It's a handheld edition of the large flat rate box train. If you do pirateship.com then medium flat rate is $14.50, and large is $19.60. So $5 for an extra 290 cubic inches of space, meaning a greater chance of getting something you want!

If you are about my age (born in 81) then your friends were probably like mine and saw them as "kiddie" cards.  Real men played MtG, and elementary/middle schoolers played Pokemon. Yuck!  I still knew some guys who were closet poke-fans, though. Haha.

I'm 1985, high school 99-03. There were  some yugioh players too, but MtG was the majority. But I do remember going to see the Pokemon 2000 movie with some other guys on my water polo team including a couple juniors/seniors from the varsity team. We got the the theater and it was sold out, tons over kids outside. It was kind of funny how bummed we were.

Hot take (though not a suggestion), go for cart-only.  I've always wanted to see a complete NDS set that was just carts. How big would that be? Sure, I could do the math but I'm a visual guy and I'd like to see how big rows and rows of neatly file mini-carts would look.

I've always wanted to do this with the Game Boy library. The way I've looked at it is custom shelving rough 6' by 4'. But with how thin it would be, it would really only take wall space, not much floor real estate, maybe 2" deep.

As for variants, let's all just live vicariously through @MiamiSlice and his collection.

Just finished the Pokemon Trading Card Game as I needed a break from Pokemon Crystal. I'm also only just five gym badges into the game, so there's still a lot before me. As for the Pokemon TCG I actually had a blast playing it except for the occassional moments where I had really bad luck. While this game is pretty cool it's also very much based on luck. So in some battles I might have been lucky and obliterated the enemy in 2 to 4 turns whereas in other battles I had little chance at all or lost due to unfortunate circumstances. Or in one expecially annoying battle the enemy would throw two exeggcutes at me which may not sound intimidating, but they have a 100% chance of putting you to sleep. So even if they didn't attack me they would put me to sleep constantly and prolong the fight to a 15 minute match or so of constantly falling asleep and desperately trying to get an attack or two in. So yeah, I wished that this game had a little bit less luck involved.

As for my deck, I won the game with a fire/water deck that was surprisingly effective. I even got really lucky near the end as I managed to defeat the top four and the rival all in one go. This might seem trivial, but a) with the luck involved and b) all of them having very strong unique cards made this actually extremely difficult and exciting. At the end of the game I now have 202 cards out of roughly 226. So I could continue the game a little bit more and try to get the rest.

So overall I was really pleased with this game and had an absolute blast for roughly 90% of the time. I wished that the second game had made it to the west, as that one has seemingly even more cards and more creative challenges, where you have to construct certain decks to fight against certain bosses etc. Or maybe a modern take on this game for console with some sort of story or career mode and maybe even different formats. The PTCG is so cool, but feels underutilized, imho.

I was in high school when it came out and I remember playing this game a bunch and beating. I played MtG with other kids at school, but no one was really playing with Pokemon cards then. I picked it up a last year to mess around just because I love the music so much and I couldn't even make it to the first gym battle. I got wrecked by RNG a few battles in a row and I gave up pretty quite.

Correct. You get 100 coins per chapter finished and each book has like 10 chapters and there are currently five full books out, six in being released now. So that is a lot of coins. You can also get them by finding silly things on the website. If you go to your my Nintendo and look at the earn points page it goes over all the ways to get platinum points.

Yeah, I didn't realize the specific games coins converted to platinum coins so I just never bothered with them. At this point, I'm just going to grind and farm a bunch of coins to buy as much as I can now, then the next time Nintendo comes out with a new set of rewards, I'll farm Pocket Camper.

I think 692/864 (I've been using the Syd Bolton list, there's debate on the number now I think)

    So like 172 away?

Probably gonna go for the platinum hits after that and region exclusives.

Could you share what you still need? I'm just curious, and if you don't mind.

Same here. Louie definitely means a left turn for me. Never even heard of flip a bitch or pulling a stinky. I'm from Illinois.

I've always lived in Southern California but I think I heard "pull a stinky" from my dad who grew up in up in upstate New York. I think it refers to when you make an illegal U-turn, you may burn rubber as you accelerate out of the turn.

  8. I was watching a show with people from North Carolina and when they had to make a u-turn in the middle of the street and they called it "making a louie", which I'd never heard of. I've heard of making a "uey", pulling a stinky, or (according to my wife) flip a bitch.

What do you call it in your neck of the woods?

So are any of you digging into Pokemon Legends Arceus?

I rented it for the launch weekend, put about 5 hours it and got my third star and made it to the first mount before taking it back. I agree with everything you said. I really enjoyed it and have been thinking about it all week. I'm definitely picking it back up first time it goes on sale

  10. I remember all the hype surrounding FO3 before release and I bought it day 1. Stepping out of the vault for the first time into the blinding light of the wasteland is one of the few gaming moments that have stayed with me over the years so for that reason, it will always be a special game for me. That being said, playing today on X360 or PS3 sounds awful, but playing it on PC with ungraded textures, quality of life updates, and bug fixes, would still make it enjoyable.
