  1. Welcome ninja warriors! After you dropped your sweat and blood at the wrestling rings seeking glory, it is now time to put in your ninja garb and be RAD! The rules for this week are: 1 life only 1 player only No point racking Participation: 15,000 The contest ends Sunday, 09/13/21 at midnight Brasilia time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.
  2. Final standings posted. Congratulations to @Sumez for securing the win this week!
  3. I personally consider the Battletoads ruleset a huge success. A lot of people seemed to enjoy it and it helped break the boredom and blandness of the usual Battletoads rules on the contest. With the usual rules, we always knew who would be in the top 3 before that shit even started. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and bring in some crazy rules to allow a worn out game to shine.
  4. While it would be doable to play till game over, that could make the runs much more time consuming. And we are like, old, so we don't have as much free time to play as we did 10 years ago, so I try to make the rules in such way that doing a score run won't take a whole night of game play. But next time this shows up we can up the ante till round 20.
  5. Nah, I would rather scrap it instead. It is just a plus that can be discarded.
  6. Also, I am not from NA. Why the eff should I care about how NA sports work? I am all about Formula 1 and there the racer with more points at the end of the season wins. And no tournament happen, but people here seems to like this whole tournament thing to end the year, so I keep doing that shit.
  7. Geral is the Portuguese word for General. You can't expect me to not put some Brazilian sauce in this thing.
  8. I find it funny that the fact that the 1st place at the geral scoreboard will be deemed the VGS NES Weekly Contest champion is being completely ignored by the lot of you. The tournament is a separated small plus to end the season. It crowns only the tournament winner, not the NES Weekly Contest champion. Nor it affects the Genre champions for the year.
  9. Not only that, but you have to pick the games for the tournament based on the players that made it so that the selection doesn't look biased towards a specific player. And come up with challenging rules for those games you picked. Then try to throw a curve ball to surprise those that made it to grand finals with a special extra game. Sometimes, like last year, the players throw a curve ball at your curve ball. I picked Circus Charlie to surprise them. Alas, Bert was a specialist in Circus Charlie...
  10. We leave the tournament details open because we have no way to know just how busy we will be when time to run it comes. I am awfully busy with work, Guil is awfully busy with work and young children. And we also take into account how many weeks it should last given that it often falls to close to holidays So tournament time comes, we decide on the fly what we can make do with the schedule and time we have. It makes zero sense to say "Oh, tournament will be top 16" and then we won't have the time and resources to run a top 16 tournament at the end of the year. And the tournament is a separated thing. We also crown the players that finished 1st to 3rd in the geral scoreboard through the year. Also, the points help tally the Genre champions for the year, so winning at one week can make a whole difference on your standing for that particular genre.
  11. Copy and paste brought in stupid stuff. Anyway, since there were confusion for this week, now I changed it to end at a time more convenient for me! Which means y'all lost 1 or 2 hours to post scores.

  13. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, welcome for a week of epic, high level wrestling in our beloved contest! Put in your ludicrous spandex costumes, pick your team and muscle up your way to victory! The rules for this week are simple: Play 1 player game Pick any characters you want Play till you win round 10 or till you lose. Take your picture at the round score screen. Be wary that you may not have a lot of time after winning round 10 The winning condition is progress plus high score Participation: Make it to round 2 Genre: Sports The contest ends Sunday, 09/06/21 at midnight Brasilia time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. 14. So, if people keep whining about it, I will change the time for one that is convenient for me and people will lose their score because so.
  15. I am so evil, but so evil that evil is made of me, so that wouldn't bother me.
  16. Stop whining or I will make y'all play till Brasilia time because it is convenient for me.
  17. It loops after stage 10 in Fighting Course. I would loop it twice just to be safe.
  18. No looping allowed. If you loop and continue playing, I will hunt you and take you down.
  19. Free time is a major factor right now. I am barely being able to run the weekly contests properly as it is. Still gotta record Championship Pool footage for @Crabmaster2000 and just couldn't get to it in months. I hope to manage to do it on the next holiday that appears here in Brazil. If things slow down after September, I will try to tackle something here. Odds are low, though.
  20. Gotta beat the hi score to make participation this week. Easy feat.
