I finished Mario Advance 2. I ended up doing 92/96 exits. Super Mario World is always a good time but it’s lower on the Mario rankings for me personally. It was fun to experience in a new way despite not being terribly different from the original version. I started up Kirby’s Dreamland 3 and it’s been okay. The graphics and music are super good but the game just feels a little dry? Maybe I don’t like Kirby games that much Ill power through and wrap this up in the next week I’d imagine.

The last level definitely has some really frustrating parts and that levels music specifically kills me. The fourth world too, I’ve always struggled

I’m sitting at 87?/96 exits, so I’ll play through this weekend and if I find the rest awesome, if not I’ll call in good and shelf it. Torn between Super Mario RPG and KH 1.5 next

Super fun, I always liked the multiplayer more. Music was super catchy and the levels are arguably better than MK but MK always takes the W for me in terms of kart racers.

Super Mario Bros Advance 4 is completed. Prior to playing this, I was under the assumption that the game had extra little things to collect and make the game a little more “fulll.” Regardless, I still really enjoyed the game. Super Mario Bros 3 is a top 5 game for me and enjoying it in a (slightly) different light was still super enjoyable. I did find it interesting in a few places how they added extra blocks or something similar to it a little easier. The only thing I didn’t care much for was that the Toad/Peach sprites didn’t look great. One side note, it took me a bit to figure out how to consistently get the stars at the end of the stage which I typically can do but I was able to figure that out eventually. O also finally can consistently bear the air ship level in world 8! All in all; not what I expected but still a great time.

Pikmin 2 is done. I’ve found with the Pikmin games I really like to get the best ending because the game really engrossed me but this one fell a little short. Cons: I hated the random falling enemies/rocks in caves, map felt kind of intuitive, Olimar’s boss sucks, the cave floors felt wildly uneven in terms of challenge, the lack of the 30 day time limit greatly cut back challenge Pros: the branding on the treasures was a fun touch, the caves are a cool concept and executed well for the most part, new Pikmin are always fun, enemies (Prog’s in particular) didn’t seem quite so difficult, Pikmin had more of a sense of their own. Overall the game definitely grew on me more and I’m sure I’ll go back eventually and “complete” it but it pales in comparison to 1 and 3 in my eyes. I’ve not played 4 yet. Overall fun but I’d sooner revisit one of the others. Super Mario RPG is next I believe!

Pikmin 2 is a little bit of a let down… I’m enjoying it but 1/3 were way better. I can’t quite put it into words yet but I’ll do a little review when I’m done.

Your thoughts on Lolo perfectly summarize it for me. There was a couple levels that drove me insane when I played and when I looked up solutions, I would have never figured out. I love the first two but three is just too tough in some spots.

Burning and turning this year. 2 games before the end of the month! Pikmin 3 is done! I really love this series and can’t wait to play more. I have to say the challenge was substantially less in this one which I wasn’t sure if it was the immense learning curve I encountered from playing and learning the first game or if it’s just easier overall. I didn’t get the “best” ending but I enjoyed it enough to where I’ll return to it and clean it up. Overall, very happy and I will return to it. To keep the Pikmin streak alive… Pikmin 2 is next!

I’m going to play through Rainbow Islands for my own amusement so if no one beats in the next couple days, I’ll share my victory

I’d love to hear some suggestions for titles to play. I’ve realized I either really enjoy(Pokemon, Links Awakening) or really dislike (Super Mario Land/Oracles) Gameboy titles.

Super Mario Wonder has been completed! While I had mixed expectations I was pleasantly surprised and how fresh this game felt. I wasn’t too stoked on the gimmicky feeling at the beginning but it grew on me. My only real complaint is that the difficulty was very low until the end and even then it wasn’t too tough. I’ve never come to expect too much challenge from a Mario game but some more would have been nice. All and all, I’ll come revisit it and finish the levels I didn’t do but for now it’s onto the next. Pikmin 3 is next on the docket and after a couple hours of play I’m already hopelessly addicted

I’ve played Odyssey a couple times and can’t get enough. It’s so good. 3D World was fun but I felt like it was missing something and just fell a little short for me personally. Galaxy and I had a weird relationship. I got motion sick the first time I played it so I never tried again, until it was remastered. The switch version is super good and controls very well still. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

I couldn’t agree more. You pretty much laid out of my feelings on it. I’ve played almost all the console Mario games and anything past Galaxy has just felt very uninspired and this one felt like a huge gimmick to me.

Started playing Super Mario Wonder last night and I’m pretty impressed. I knew I’d like it, as it is a Mario game but wow!

28% completion, woo!

I’m sick in the head so I’ll see this NES set through and I’ve toyed with the notion of a N64 set but outside of that, there’s nothing that I care enough about to fullest.

Is Donkey Kong 64 a first play for you? It’s easily one of my top 5 favorite games and while it’s got flaws, it’s so charming

I’ll look into it, I’ve of course heard of it but I don’t know much about it
