Condos nice. Jennie’s friend brought two fucking dogs and it’s smoky outside. So Nintendo it is.

It's that time of year. The smokey smell just adds to the charm of doing something outdoorsy... I hope you guys are staying safe.

Wait, is it better to keep your scoring tricks to yourself?

I was just trying to be helpful.

There's no rule for this, it's up to everyone at their discretion. My personal thoughts: I don't like spoilers for the contests myself, I like to figure it out. One thing that's different here versus NintendoAge is that there's a "spoiler" button at the top of the post composer (it looks like an eye). If you highlight and mark the text with this, it will hide it and must be clicked to reveal. We've not seen wide use of this yet here, but I'm hoping it catches on 🙂 Spoiler:

    Spoiler

This is a spoiler. @Jeevan likes butterscotch

Are you using a broken piece of styrofoam cup as an eating utensil?

Hahaha. @Murray beat me to it!  I could hardly read the posts after this. I just kept thinking "WTF is he eating with, styrofoam?!" 😄

Well maybe it was the right week to be work buried. Played a few more games and Im still having trouble breaking 100k. And whatever this dudes hand is doing to that controller was never going to happen.

    That's hypercramping, I mean hypertapping!

  5. Final score posted, which was of no consequence to my position this week. I appreciate the opportunity to improve my Tetris skills, which really was in need of some updating. I am now truly conscious of DAS and can see an immediate improvement. I still feel the challenge level this week was more appropriate for a tournament than for engaging in casual play. Congrats to everyone who placed this week. Glad to see that you remembered to stop by, @Sumez!

This has been really interesting for me. My Tetris skills have been pretty stagnant for a long time. It's served me pretty well over the years to just brute-force my way to a high score. If I don't get a lucky round, abandon it and try again. Given enough attempts, I'll get a series of pieces that meshes really well with my playstyle, and I'll end up with a bangin' score. Wellll, looking at the high scorers in this thread, my approach is going to end up sliding me right out of the top ten. I have to learn new things in order to progress. If my best plan is to "wait for a lucky round," then I suck at Tetris. Sure, unlucky rounds exist, and I'll still sacrifice rounds that give me garbage pieces to start with (first ten pieces are nothing but S's, Z's, and squares) but I'd imagine that if there were a ten-game limit, allowing everyone an absolute maximum of ten attempts to get a high score, there would still be some very impressive scores, and they would definitely not be from me.

I hate the word "hypertapping" though.

It should be called "handcramping" 😄

I am usually a proponent of not poking the sleeping bears week to week in the contest. I assumed tetris would bring out a few badass nonregular participants though. And Im not gitting gud at all. My pipedream that this may be the week I buckle down and become a tetris master is already pretty well out the window. I suck pretty hard

A big part of the problem is I played this using A only growing up. I didnt even realize B was a thing until watching that tetris movie. The switch to a and b is just so contrary to instinct after 20 years. Im not getting that down and getting top 8 good in a week.

I'm a one way flipper too. I always use B.

I'm also a one-way flipper. I think this needs to change stat. Also, 1989 called and it said "Hey man, I'm 31. I do what I want!".

i am now. thank you. do you have experience with it?

No problem! My house came with it installed in the attic, which is where I learned about it. I bought some for my garage door, but haven't installed it yet, so no personal experience using it. I will say that I installed the super light "bubble" type of this under insulation in the panels of my garage door. It keeps the temp about 10 degrees cooloer than the outside reading. It also feels NOTICEABLY much more like you're inside versus outside / behind a standard metal garage door. This stuff is meant to block much more than what I've used so far. It's said to be like a heavy tinfoil. If you do install it into the attic ceiling, there are two types: the type that's meant to be stapled, and the type that's not. There are also different ratings based on how much UV gets blocked. You may need some air space between this and the inside of the ceiling. I watched a number of videos on it, but my use case is different than this type of installation. Here's a similar product, if you're looking. I'd definitely research on the best way to install it / best way to use it in attics before buying.
