  1. If developed using Nesmaker code base, Graphic or audio assets then YES. If the developer uses Nesmaker as a spring board tool for coding a game from the ground up then NO
  2. Mugi has a valid point concerning Nesmaker for a couple of reasons, anyone attracted to Nesmaker due to what Dimension Shift is able to showcase would be disappointed since all of the default code base has been gutted, optimized and replaced from the ground up. So it would be a disservice for new people coming to Nesmaker fresh. Mugi is basically utilizing the tool at this point to serve as a screen painter, which is something I understand most from-scratch Homebrewer's use without having to announce that their game is somehow tool assisted. Most of us in the NM community are more than happy to announce our projects as Nesmaker-made, no one is trying to fool anyone and it would be fairly simple to prove a project was made with nesmaker or not in case anyone tried to get smart and claim credit for source code they didn't write. I think Mugi's case provides an exceptionally large gray area, where a project started with a tool but quickly outgrew it and moved on towards the light. I really don't care to get invested in this argument since I'm heavily rooted in the NM community yet see logical conclusions from either angle, my only desired outcome is more cool NES games, method-be-damned. All I can really add is please keep up the good work everybody
  3. Wading in here to mention my own Nesmaker project which is currently in development "Space Raft". An Nes game based on my dumb rock band. I just finished a new working demo, which you can be download directly here, or through my thread in the Nesmaker forums... This is my very first attempt at any game dev and am receiving some great help from the nesmaker community when it comes to coding, but the music and assets were all created by me specifically for this project. http://nesmakers.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=2867 My eventual plan is to simply release the ROM for free on our record labels website and do a limited run of pre order only carts.. I hope this is an appropriate use of this thread, not trying to advertise necessarily, but would like to be more active in the Nes homebrew community since I am so endlessly inspired by what I see here. Xoxo Cheers! Raft3.0.NES

Getting to take a peak at the demo of this was one of the big highlights of MGC this year for me. I loved the character's idle animation and bomb throwing mechanic. The bomb arch seems like a small thing, but really cements the game's exploration focus and helps Halcyon distance itself from a Run'and'gun, which I could see someone mistaking it for based on the graphics and some of the physics. The bomb throwing had me slowing down and considering how I should approach an enemy rather than simply charging in. Good stuff. I had been seeing graphical teasers on Frankengraphic's blog which I follow very closely, so seeing the demo in person and meeting Nathan was a big deal for me. Though I should also mention, the demo had no sound at the time, and envisioning the Alien soundscape frankengraphics will dream up for this has me hotly anticipating this title.
  6. Shiru just released this demoscene offering last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=338r2BRYg3A
  7. The pins look cool, I will definitely be happy to see that goal reached. There seem to be a few quality games with looming releases around the corner. A few in the Metroidvania camp, Orange Island (kickstarter is finished but should be given a normal release according to the developer), or check the Halcyon thread here!
  8. Heeey! Congrats Dale! I imagine shipping will be affordable for you due to Broke studios publishing. Good news
  9. The demo is fantastic, super excited for full release now
  10. I actually really like the idea of NES homebrew on Switch. I don't have a Switch personally and have little interest in owning one, but having access to these games on a modern platform would dramatically increase access to them for many people. I tell my friends all the time about these great new NES games, many of whom show great interest but couldn't be bothered to set up an emulator or dust off the NES in the closet if they can simply sit down on the couch and turn on the Switch, pay $5-$10 or whatever and be off and adventuring. I doubt the concept would be as appealing to many members here as we're all likely on the same deep dive with retro libraries and hardware, but if expanding the audience for NES Homebrew is the goal, then this is a great step forward Also, congrats on the release @IBtiM! I was playing my HH86 cart the week of Halloween and loving it
  11. This looks rad, exciting to see where it goes
  12. Twin dragons would be a great addition May I also suggest Krill's fantastic Nim & Nom? Maybe it's best played as a 2 player game, but a time attack mode could be fun...
  13. Blogs may be a thing of the past, but I still find the format to be incredibly helpful in this particular instance. In fact, AS a late comer into the greater world of nes development, discovering Frankengraphic's fantastic blog was a big inspiration for getting started myself, as well rainwarrior's lizard blog has been a constant revelation to go back and re read. WIP threads on the forums can be great too.
