  1. Yeah, you're probably right, and it was just 8-year-old-me reckoning with the odds.
  2. Really? This is a major geopolitical situation that dates back to the beginnings of communist China, and has been an on-going point of tension for our entire lives.
  3. It is incredibly strange. This was a hot issue from long before most of us here were even born, so to go through your entire life without ever having been aware of it is a pretty crazy perspective. This is ALMOST on the level of claiming to not know that there is a long-standing conflict in the middle east... EDIT: and this isn't a matter of "hot issue here..." in some sense of your own geography really mattering -- this is a "hot issue" for the entire world, because at some point, this is a top-3-contender for what causes World War 3.
  4. I remember going to the "MGM Studios" section of Disney World the year it opened and they had a "behind the scenes" section that felt like you were being carted around a studio backlot -- one of the parts included something similar to what you describe but it was a giant bumblebee from "Honey I Shrunk the Kids". Only one kid on the tour got to ride it, and at the time, I thought they must have been a planted actor -- but in hindsight, I'm sure their parents just paid a shitload of money for some kind of special access tickets.
  5. I enjoy rewatching Neverending Story with my kids, but I'm still surprised to see it ranked as highly as Dark Crystal or Labyrinth. The movie would have been twice as good without the "Falcor is awesome!" bit at the end creating too much of a silly mood shift (Also share your love for Clash of the Titans -- HUGE fan of the camera-trick stop motion work that it pays homage to, and later found out the fun fact that my dad went to high school with Harry Hamlin which made it even more endearing )
  6. Are you genuinely this unaware of the situation between Taiwan and China? I find this really hard to believe.
  7. I'll give it a 9 with almost exactly the same qualifications as @Shmup
  8. Dragon Warrior 2 is my favorite game in the series, but most of that is admittedly nostalgia from having spent so much time obsessing over the posters and maps that came with the Dragon Warrior NP promo. Though I'm definitely interested in the "HD-2D" update for DQ3. (and I'm interested to share DQ11 with the kids when I get it for Father's Day :P)
  9. While one probably shouldn't be surprised, it doesn't invalidate OptOut being able to voice his concerns or otherwise being upset about it.
  10. Is this some kind of long-con troll / joke? I have a hard time believing that you could be this disconnected from reality.
  11. Neat. My younger sister had the Muppet Babies set, back in the day. And I honestly can't remember whether the sets had the 3 ink pads (like the boxed set) or just 1 ink pad like the blister-packed set. The poseable character and accessory stamp "count" was the same between sets, though.
  12. Well, "medical cocaine" is what you get at the ENT (ears, nose, throat doctor) to open up your sinuses for better inspection. Definitely not a "full dose" in any recreational sense, but enough that you notice the sensation. (they put it on a q-tip and spin it around way up inside your nose)
  13. Last few hours to make a bid on something that hasn't been for sale since Roses carried them in 1988!
  14. Thanks. It was a big surprise to me when I posted the Link stamp that nobody else on the forum had ever seen these before. I really wish I'd still had the entire set, because then we could potentially scan them for people to actually use again. (while crudely articulated -- the flip book animations were pretty neat for a kid in 1988)
  15. I think you may be under-selling how much control China has over crypto assets, in general.
  16. Believe it or not. I found the Stalfo stamp last year, buried in the bottom of the kids' craft drawer, while helping my mom with a FULL clean-out of her house before moving. Once I saw him, i was really hoping the rest of the stamp set would turn up, but alas, he was all that remained.
  17. Looking back through my email, the matching Link stamp (in better condition than the Stalfo, fortunately) went to @smick at NintendoAge (fall of 2018).
  18. Bump. Would have thought we had at least a couple of serious Zelda collectors still around that would be interested in this...
  19. Much more likely to be related to the news out of China. https://www.reuters.com/technology/chinese-financial-payment-bodies-barred-cryptocurrency-business-2021-05-18/
  20. Really? I think it makes sense Nobody gets to round up to a "10" -- you have to round down for these kinds of things!
  21. I can tolerate most of their stuff but definitely prefer the separate performers after the group broke up.
  22. Bump. While not in the greatest shape, this is a pretty unique piece of licensed memorabilia for the hardcore Zelda collector.
  23. The other interesting thing is that since flu transmission was WAY down for 2020, we can also reasonably lump MOST (if not all) deaths that would otherwise have been attributable to flu into the probable-covid-bucket. (i.e. covid isn't just "excess deaths" -- it is potentially and likely excess + other-types-of-death-that-happened-less-in-2020)
  24. This is one of the companion stamps to the Link stamp I auctioned off a couple years ago on NintendoAge. I've never seen another set of these, so there is the thought they may have been regional/limited release. These were posable stamps that came with a flip-book for making your own flip-book animations. Original full set included Link, Stalfo, Goriya, a sword, shield, and boomerang. This auction is for the Stalfo ONLY. Unfortunately, time has taken its toll and he is in pretty rough shape, as the rubber has become quite stiff. Sold As-Is.
