  1. I am just following a trend that has been going on for around 3 years now and correct me if I am wrong, there seems to be be more and more people/companies/main stream media entering/talking about the world of video games with each passing day. Kinda like how comics, cards, stamps, coins, action figures, etc grew, is happening to video games now. Just my humble 2 cents.
  2. No, I know their are now 2 sides on the fence. The old school collector and the new school collector. The facts don't lie. I used to think these auctions couldn't possibly be real prices, but auction after auction, prices continue to go up. We now have Goldin Auctions entering the fray, Comic Connect is here, LGS Auctions, Certified Links Auction house, etc. We have new grading companies popping up left and right these days, with CCG about to enter. Times have definitely changed and collecting as we once new it, will never ever come back (sadly), that much I do know for certain. I certainly respect everyone's opinions, but this is just my view and 2 cents on the current video game market.
  3. Very well said/written and I agree with many of your points. yes, the overwhelming majority of collectors is the average Joe.
  4. Yeah fair points! It just seems like with all the new Auction Houses and grading companies entering the market, that more people will want to "make money" and have their games graded. Like, I said, just my humble opinion. I have been wrong many times in the past and very well could be way off base here, but I personally think the hobby is trending in this direction.
  5. I personally think it will, because the collectors that can't afford sealed in this 'new' videogame hobby that we are currently in, will have to go after CIB (or collectors that just collect loose carts) and if they want to grade them, they will be going after the carts that are in the best possible condition (minty) to try and get the highest possible grade from WATA (or the many other grading companies entering the market), so I think that collectors lower on the totem pole of collecting (not looking down at anyone here) will be looking for the best conditioned carts, which would theoretically drive up the prices on loose carts, but of course the very common carts in poor condition should stay about the same price. I quite possibly could be wrong and it won't have any affect on carts, but only time will tell, especially with all these new grading companies coming into the fray grading carts/CIBS. Just my very humble 2 cents.
  6. If you don't already follow or watch his Youtube channel, you are definitely missing out! I know that he is a member on here and was also a member over at NintendoAge, so he definitely knows his stuff. I just can't believe that more people haven't subscribed to his channel or watched his videos, because he is so insightful about video games and makes awesome videos. I am always looking forward to his next video to come out during the week (usually 2 to 3 a week). I love his humor, knowledge of gaming, humbleness, topics he covers and his all around personality in his content/videos. (Kinda like my favorite member on here and back in the NintendoAge days, a very big shout out to jonebone) He live streams Heritage Auctions every week and he was on his game during this afternoon's auction (or in the wee hours in the night for me in Taiwan). There were times, when I was laughing out loud/in stitches, because he was so funny (especially talking about Barry, those that were watching live on his channel, will know what I am talking about). In closing, if you haven't checked him out on Youtube, please do so, he is the real deal, knows what he is talking about and as far as I am concerned making the best video game videos out there and yes, that includes Pat the Nes Punk. Here is his link. Please do yourself a favor and check him out! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqz404W7s6AT5jN3XPJvUkw
  7. There were records completely obliterated in the auction today! Tons of games sold for 5 and 6 figures! Just unreal how this hobby has completely blown up and how truly big/mainstream it has become. If you had any lingering doubt before the auction about what games/titles that the "new" collectors are after, this latest HA signature auction definitely shows 100% that popular titles (Mario, Zelda, Tyson, etc) trump/destroy 'rare' (Stadium Events, Hagane, Lufia 2, Mighty Final Fight, etc) titles in the hobby now and I don't see that trend stopping EVER again. This is the new norm in this hobby (Popularity destroys Rarity). Of course this is my humble opinion, but the facts clearly show that is the case now. I am really at a loss of words to the ending prices these games ended up with (we still have a few more heavy hitters left, (E.G. SM64, N64 games, Pokemon Games,) We are in unchartered waters and it seems like with each passing signature auction, records continue to shatter and prices for everything continue to go up. Just mind-boggling to me, especially being an 'old timer' and remembering when a lot of these games could have been bought for 'pennies on the dollar' not so long ago, compared to now. I am certain that this is going to have a natural trickle down effect on prices on Ebay. I am sure that many sellers have already raised/adjusted their BIN prices on a lot of their games they have listed or plan to list on Ebay because of the sold prices in this latest auction and the unreal prices games sold for. That is only a natural reaction after something like this, so if you are on the fence about buying a new game cart, CIB, or sealed game, I suggest you try to grab it asap, before prices go higher or you might say that now is not the time to buy, because prices will not hold/sustain, but judging from the past, prices will continue to gain steam and I don't remember them coming down after a title/game reaches a certain price point. (I know there are some rare cases, especially with Atari games, but not the heavy hitters anymore) Anyways, this is just my humble opinion on the state of the video game hobby that we all love.
  8. Just a little over 2 hours left, until all hell breaks loose! This is going to be interesting/crazy to see the final prices of these games!
  9. This is 100% correct! These current prices will go way up in the last few moments of the auctions!
  10. Another raw Nes sealed Mickey Mousecapade selling for big dollars $3,279. I never dreamed the day would come when this game would sell for over $3,000 (another raw copy sold for almost $4,000 in late April). it makes me wonder how much a high graded one would fetch. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224496790128?epid=5859&hash=item34450d2a70%3Ag%3AeHYAAOSwcP5gxpzZ&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  11. Wow! This sealed N64 Super Mario 64 is already up to $117,000 with 23 days left! I wonder where these games and some of the other heavyweights will end at. https://comics.ha.com/itm/video-games/super-mario-64-wata-98-a-sealed-n64-nintendo-1996-usa/a/7261-28137.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 This sealed white seal (late print) Nes Super Mario Bros is at $60,000 https://comics.ha.com/itm/video-games/super-mario-bros-wata-96-a-sealed-oval-soq-r-later-production-nes-nintendo-1985-usa/a/7261-28056.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  12. I am sure you have planned things out carefully and I really hope you and your team nothing but the best of luck. Thanks so much for coming in here and asking everyone for their input/ideas.
  13. This Nes Matte sticker sealed Stack-Up just sold for almost $8,000. Don't get me wrong, I know that is a lot of money, but doesn't it seem kind of low for a copy of this extremely rare to find black box game? https://www.ebay.com/itm/324653508279?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&autorefresh=true&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc
  14. Nes raw Swords and Serpents sold for $1,899. Crazy times! https://www.ebay.com/itm/373102192364?epid=56236715&hash=item56de9fa6ec%3Ag%3A0cMAAOSwrede~hqq&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  15. Your estimate of $15,000 is way way too low in today's market prices (if you listed all 3 of them as a BIN on Ebay for $15,000, they would be bought within seconds of your listings). Even though, they are later prints (your super Mario bros white seal, is the earlier and rarer white seal of the 3 white oval seals that exist) and although, they are slabbed in 'VGA' cases, they are premium grades. Anything Mario is on fire these days! I would put the value of them at around the following if you sold them on Ebay right now. Nes Super Mario Bros VGA 85+ $50,000 and possibly higher Nes Super Mario Bros 2 VGA 85+ $15,000 to $20,000 and possibly higher Nes Super Mario 3 VGA 85 $15,000 to $20,000 and possibly higher I am basing my prices based on a combination of Ebay completed auctions and Heritage House completed auctions and the 'current' on fire video game hobby, which seems like prices continue to go higher and higher with each passing day/auction. Like others have said, if you want to maximize your money, you will have to re-slab them with WATA and sell then through Heritage House Auctions (But Goldin Auctions is entering the hobby soon and they will be accepting VGA graded games). Anyways, you own 3 grails that are very sought after by collectors and their values continue to go up. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but you definitely got a small fortune on your hands!!
  16. I 100% agree with you your assessment! Positive feedback was given too. Just makes you shake your head.
  17. Sealed N64 Raw Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside first print sold for $8,100. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234002670327?epid=214712802&hash=item367ba562f7%3Ag%3AtnMAAOSwks5gmG50&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  18. Nes Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers VGA 85+ for $15,000. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194137030302?epid=56241216&hash=item2d3377fe9e%3Ag%3AGz4AAOSwaqJgmf-S&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  19. Ouch! 28% is a big chunk of money to lose, but at the end of the day, you still made out like a bandit!
  20. First and foremost, a big congratulations to you and the buyer! So, are you going to have to pay that 28% capital gains tax?! That comes to a whopping $63,000 tax hit or was there any way to lower that capital gains tax? anyways, you still made an enormous profit from this sale! Congrats again on the sale!
  21. Dare i say that this raw copy of Nes The Karate Kid undersold for only $3,875!? https://www.ebay.com/itm/373565044309?epid=56210384&hash=item56fa363655%3Ag%3Ah20AAOSwhXZgijqj&nma=true&si=AFE28odtOjHeYSejMOkVwsZpUsA%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  22. Another Nes sealed The Goonies sold for an insane $6,500. This one is even the later print white seal version. I guess craziness and nostalgia have combined to make this a very sought after sealed game. https://www.ebay.com/itm/233995697125?hash=item367b3afbe5%3Ag%3A14AAAOSwXLFgkdrN&nma=true&si=mdOX%2BnMVPOWLIXF1d8vkNA2fV34%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
