  1. I'm so dumb. Thanks guys! I just saw the H-seam and assumed it was sealed. Good deal! Cheers!
  2. Just a bit stunned, as heck, I'd buy DW3 sealed for $288 straight up if graded 8.5. And funny part is, I'm looking to sell mine, haha. Any input is appreciated. Not looking for people to just bash HA, just looking for insight.
  3. I was recently informed that Heritage Auctions was the way to go when selling rare, factory sealed NES games. If that's so, why on earth did the DW3 sealed copy go for $288 (that means buyer probably got $200 flat at most) last month. Dragon Warrior III Wata 8.5 CIB NES Enix 1992 USA.... Video Games | Lot #97099 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com) I'm baffled, as I did send in a few games and want to send in more (like my DW3 & DW4 sealed, but the going prices seem to be weak for these titles verse eBay, etc.). Thoughts? Insight? Thanks all. This community is awesome!
  4. Below seems to be my best bet for a quality case, BUT it is pricey and I don't see any other pics online of others using the cases. Anyone bought any quality cases to assure safety to CIB games? Nintendo NES Boxed Video Game Acrylic Display Case | eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/252328105685 Thanks all! Take care!
  5. Thanks for the input. I'll begin my research into WATA games over the next couple weeks and decide. For now, I'm okay holding them, but if they would net me absurd amounts, I'd rather just sell -- especially if WATA keeps up its shady practices (further hurting the value of NES collectibles). Also, LOVE the avatar. One of my favorite shooters!
  6. Thanks so much for the explanation regarding WATA and its practices. What an absolute shame. It's sad that many believe the best way to maximize profit is to reach out to what appears to be a corrupt organization trying to double dip. I'm stunned that HA has such a vast following, as you've all alluded to. I'm 100% torn with how to handle these games. I'll likely keep them for the time being, as I'm not eager to sell the SMB collection, as the ultimate goal was to display them in a future mancave. Due to serious relationship building, COVID, and such, extra cash would go a long way, but I'm not about to sell them through a corrupt company for it to be simply an investment. I'd want a collector who plans to hold long term to end up with the trio.
  7. Also, the N64 is the one I'm interested in selling the most. I can't seem to find any on eBay for the 2 controller limited edition set.
  8. I realize you guys are joking, but in all seriousness, I have no clue about WATA games. I just know that every graded game these days is by them. Can you expand? I've been out of the community for nearly a decade. Regardless, any actual input is appreciated. I know the SMB are in excellent condition, regardless of the VGA grading. My guess is around $15,000 for the set? I realize I could be way off, but just guessing here.
  9. I realize that identifying a specific price tag for vintage video game items is difficult, but wondering if some seasoned vets could provide me with a ballpark amount I should expect, as I may be listing a few items on eBay (or here). Toys R Us (Limited Edition) Gold N64 (w/ 2 controllers) Like New (never used, but box has been worn over the years) Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (CIB) AVE 3rd-party NES Games (loose, but some with manuals) Condition varies, and not sure if this is even a full set I realize WataGames is the new standard for grading, but I'm happy with the VGA cases and grades, so I'm not budging on having them cracked open and re-graded. IF a buyer wishes to do so, that's on them. Please keep in mind, I purchased these eons ago, and know their worth to a certain extent. I haven't collected in a decade or so, and with COVID-19 and struggles, may be selling off some.
  10. OH MY! What beautiful pieces. I'm extremely jealous! My main concern is that casing them sealed without showing the guts allows to swap out the guts (and save them to produce a new cart with a new number or just place its guts in a gold cart). No one will crack these cases, so that's the main concern I'm alluding to. I do LOVE (unlike most) the long turnaround times. It sort of validates a bit how much effort, time, etc. that the companies are putting into their work. On top of that, if they were ever busted, it would devalue everything they've ever graded. The more I think about it, I am mostly just paranoid. To the poster stating the $16,000 get in line, I know that. I'm just stating that is my top price with the concern of fakes. Also, to the poster saying they prefer the grey carts, I'm totally with you. For your reasons, and the fact that actual participants received them and they appear to be much more difficult to fake (IMO). Lastly, to clarify, I'm NOT stating that I think this listing is fake. Just curious what the community thinks of fake prevalence and the future of them. I know a lot of fake Peanut Royal Blue Elephants (lol! TY Beanie Babies) and 1st Edition Pokémon cards exist. Extensive research is required to validate those (and even they can be futile), and they are worth a minute fraction of these holy grails.
  11. Well now I'm extremely curious. What game? Was Matthew so spoiled that he even put this on like The Lion King? Or is this actually a game of decent value? Also, for back then, a custom sticker is impressive. I wonder if Matthew puts these stickers on items in the fridge too. Anyways, this is my favorite submission so far. The burned Castlevania is badass though!
  12. Hello, This may already be on the site already, but I couldn't find anything after a quick search. IF this has been posted already, please feel free to lock/delete. NWC 1990 eBay ($150,000 OBO) Above is a grey cart that is currently on eBay. My guess would be that the seller is a member on this site, as he has been selling games for a while it seems. I have a few questions and concerns. I was hoping to get your opinions. Why wouldn't the seller give some background/history on the cart? Barebones info given (if even that). Doesn't it seem a bit irresponsible to grade and seal THIS game closed (without opening shell and showing guts in case)? It just seems to me this gives graders a lot of power that may be abused someday (although highly unlikely). Company could always be bribed or take advantage of buyers by casing a near perfect imitation to unsuspecting individuals. What are your thoughts on the future of NWC '90s carts? It's always been the holy grail for me, but the older I get (and more valuable those games get), the more I realize that fakes will occasionally arise and get better and better looking. I could actually buy this, but I wouldn't pay over $16,000 for a copy. I It's just not worth the risk of scammers of eventually making identical fakes (and deflating/devaluing the market). I'm too paranoid to ever try and actually obtain the game. Anyone else like me in this regard? How much trust does the community put into WATA and VGA? Do most take them as 100% credible and ethical? It just seems like with rating and sealing cases closed, it'd a tad easier for them to take advantage (sealing CIB Cheetahmen II with a SMB3 cart inside) or be bribed. I do think it's AWESOME that we now have competition. I know I'm sounding like a worrywart, but I consider these actual concerns (IMO) in the distant future, if not now. Cheers and thanks for any helpful responses. Also, I was banned from NA (owner didn't care for me... feeling was mutual ). I never scammed or anything. I was merely a crass kid (this was roughly 10 years ago) who was too quick to be blunt. I've learned from my ways, as it's been quite some time. I'd like to think I've matured. I've dealt successfully with many legends (bronty, pat, etc.) in the past. I also have approximately $10,000 worth in retro games. I'd like to think I'm welcomed back and will be given a second chance. I was hyped to see this new site! IF I have done something irreversible in the past, feel free to ban me again and I'll avoid retro forums yet again. The most you'll find is me just acting immature. Edit: I'm curious. Does the idea of future fakes make anyone else less interested seeking a copy? It's the case for me, but I'm TAKING nothing away from those current owners. I'm hecka jealous of y'all!
