    Yeah, it seems like it would be a terrible licensed game, so I bet a lot of people don't give it a try.

    My favorites are probably games that aren't pictured here. The entire Elder Scrolls series (including Redguard and Battlespire) factory sealed and VGA graded. Morrowind is the CE and signed by the developers.

     

    Also, my Wizardry collection, which includes a few rare pieces in addition to games 1 through 8.

    I haven't had anyone lie about the wrong item being sent. I think that scam is very rare.

     

    i have only had a few buyers lie about a  game not working. They have done this to return their own broken game instead. I have contested these and won since their games have had smal; markings that prove they aren't the same as the games I pictured in my listings. It also wouldn't apply to your game since it is brand new.

     

    The other small risk I think you have is a buyer claiming that the item was damaged when it wasn't and requesting a partial refund. Pictures are required for this, do they would need to either purposely damage the game to get the refund or have a separate damaged game that they show pictures of instead. This also seems very unlikely.

     

    Your chances of being scammed are very low when selling a sealed game. Just package it VERY well to ensure that it doesn't actually get damaged.

    If you can easily go on ebay and buy 10+ of them if you have the money, it isn't really rare, just uncommon. 

    It's true for PC collecting too, especially with early titles (1978-1980 games that were released in plastic baggies). There are many games I want that I have never seen for sale.

    If I could snap my fingers and own a full-set immediately, it would be Genesis. I'm not taking the value of the set into account, this hypothetical is just about what I would like to own for my personal enjoyment. DS is a close second.

    With that being said, I don't see myself trying to complete any set in the future. I am one game away from a complete NES NTSC licensed set (SE of course) and buying hundreds of terrible filler games made me realize that set collecting wasn't for me.

    This post has me thinking how Dain feels about this. Obviously he knew the deal when he sold NA and his collection, but I would guess that he is upset about how things turned out. The site he created was destroyed, video games were touted as the new great investments for comic collectors, and his collection was hyped up and given a "pedigree" so that it could be sold for millions more.

     

    I would be pissed.

    I would say that general rule, most PC collectors determine the "best" version based on these criteria, with

    1. Release date

    2. Rarity

    3. DOS gets preference over others, but not always, based on 1 and 2. After that, it goes Apple, C64, and Atari (of course not all games were available for all computers) Amiga is an outlier, and I have never dabbled in collecting for other international computers like the ZX Spectrum or MSX.

    Interesting, that's exactly what I love about PC collecting. There was a phase of big box releases where basically every game felt like a Collector's Edition because of its inserts. Lore books to accompany the rule books, trinkets in the box, cloth maps, security wheels and more. And you can always discover new cool things inside other people's big boxes. Much communication was done via mail, so it's fun to find envelopes from the developer inside with patch disks or letters answering questions.

     

    Console collecting is starting to get very nuanced too. Like getting the first print matte sticker black box game, or Mario 3 with "bros" on the left, non-NFR Sonic, Dr. Wright Megaman, orange lettered MTPO. Strangely, I have no desire to collect those even though I love collecting all of the extras for PC games.

     

    Anyway, I understand where you are coming from, but just wanted to share what I love about collecting PC games.
