Well it's ebay, I wouldn't be 100% certain, as they're cheap and easy to mess with to seem new, much like the mass of so called legit new SD/microSD cards out there you find actually come from china and have smaller/crappier chips wired in to make a profit.  I've not heard really of new out of box being jacked up, but if they are a legit rare lemon a store return is in order for a swap only because a warranty replacement would take too long leaving you without gaming.

Thanks for the info. I remember the box looked kind of jacked up when I opened it (I wasn't paying close attention though), so I'm starting to think the seller tried something shady.

You bought an entirely new set of joycons, not just a replacement stick?  I haven't heard of that happening, I would return those.

Well they were advertised as new on ebay, and yes, it was a new set of joycons. Maybe the seller tried to pass off a set of old ones as being new, but the packaging all looked right.

  3. My right stick to drift, so I bought a new pair and the left joycon STILL drifts. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a problem with the Switch itself or did I just buy defective joycons?

  4. NES - platformers

    SNES - platformers

    Genesis - SHMUPS

    N64 - platformers

PS1 - I guess it excelled most at RPGs, but I still firmly believe that the PC had better RPGs than any console at any given time.

I wanted to vote beat 'em ups for one of these because that's my favorite genre to play on SNES and Genesis, but I don't think they really excelled at those games. I think I just enjoy the genre.

I just wanted to say thank you guys for the support. I really appreciate it.

As always if you ever have any questions or see anything that doesn't look right, like the averages mentioned here, please just shoot me a message either in the main thread or even by PM. I will try my best to take care of it. Or try to get an explanation of what is going on. There is still a lot of tweaking to do to get things finetuned, and the hope is no more bugs or errors pop up weeks to months later that set us back.

My main focus right now is

1-Getting the remaining games with missing data filled in(RH had a great idea of addressing this)
2-Removing bad data/sales that may be throwing off averages, especially for high profile games(Reporting these when you see them, allows me to address them much faster, because i can't audit 25k games)
3-Adding the rest of the switch library

It looks like the algorithm is still screwed up. I checked out the value of a loose Xbox360 disc of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. It says $27.15, but out of the last 15 sales only one sale (around the middle of the timeline of the last 15) was above this amount at $29.99. Everything else was lower, and the most recent sale was only for $9.99. The average of the last 15 is $18.16. I'm guessing this is happening across the board, but I just happened to notice it with this game.

Last 15 loose sales and average price:

    $9.50
    $24.99
    $20.00
    $26.99
    $19.95
    $21.50
    $9.95
    $29.95
    $25.00
    $12.99
    $12.99
    $20.22
    $14.93
    $16.49
    $7.00
    Average: $18.16

Yeah this is the next phase after our guy gets through the alphabet on the list he is on. He's on S right now. Once everything is in, we are going to go back and fill in all the missing LRG games and limited editions. Switch is modern, but it's amazing how collectible it already has become. We definitely want to cater to that.

If you happen to have a list of LRG that you have seen and that you want added and want to shoot it over, it may help us get them in faster, but they will be entered regardless either way.

I only have a list of the 5 limited run games I own that aren't on the site. I'm sure there are many more, and this list might not be helpful since you still have to go through the whole catalog of releases, but here they are. All Switch games:

    Blazing Chrome

    Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia

    Dark Devotion

The Messenger Limited Edition (Special Reserve Games)

    Timespinner

  7. I came across this on eBay:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Mario-Bros-VGA-90-1985-Famicom-Nintendo-NES-Mega-Rare-True-First-Print/114385567064

It got me thinking about whether there is a way to determine the first print of Super Mario Bros. on Famicom. We have all seen the hype train of the NES print being (Matte sticker) but I was wondering if anyone had thought about this for Famicom. I don't collect for the system, but I'm think this auction is not the first print release, and probably not for a release prior to the NES Matte sticker one. I have also seen some copies with different box art in the past - it seems more uncommon and the picture is in more of a "cute style".

Anyway, does anyone know how to identify the first print of this game? I would be cool to keep an eye out for the true first release.

I'm really curious, did you play Arena and Daggerfall back when they released? Because I find those very difficult to play these days, especially Arena. If the really old school feel is what you enjoy, more power to you. Morrowind is my #1, I feel it has the best of both worlds.

Yes, I played both at release. I played a LOT of Daggerfall and still revisit it to this day. The Dagerfall world is huge, and the freedom of what you are able to do is far greater than any other TES game.

  9. It's low on myranking of Elder Scrolls main series games:

    1. Daggerfall

    2. Morrowind

    3. Oblivion

    4. Skyrim

    5. Arena

I could even make the case that Arena is better, but I give Skyrim a slight edge.

So I rank it " Meh. There's plenty of better alternatives to this" which is 4/10.

Are they collecting CIB NES sets? It seems like they would rather have an entire shelf full of Punch Outs or sealed good stuff than debase themselves with the peasant unknown CIB games.

Run fillers are basically dead in comic collecting right now. It's all about owning (investing in) first appearances or other major keys. It's also very common for comic book collectors to own multiples of books they think are good investments. For example, there are plenty of collectors that own 20+ copied of Hulk 181, and that mentality is being applied to game collecting. It's pretty stupid because it's manufactured rarity - there are plenty of copies in existence, but the investors are holding them. It's a house of cards, and I'm surprised it has lasted this long. Of course there are also comics that are truly rare, but those are a different story.

  11. I know a lot of people here are friends with Deniz from NA days. I never knew the guy, but he sure seems like a giant douchebag now. I remember his sappy post on NA about his deep love for collecting video games and how his life wasn't complete without it. It was all part of the long con to build rapport while he was founding WATA.

I submitted two games to WATA and they both took 6 months to be graded instead of the 15 day turnaround I paid for. Meanwhile, he was still meeting same-day turnaround for people who paid for it. I sent over 10 emails, which were all completely ignored. What a garbage company.
