  1. Texas rabbi: Captor grew "belligerent" late in standoff https://www.yahoo.com/news/hostages-safe-texas-synagogue-standoff-065256937.html A rabbi who was among four people held hostage at a Texas synagogue said Sunday that their captor grew “increasingly belligerent and threatening” toward the end of the 10-hour standoff, which ended with an FBI SWAT team rushing into the building and the captor's death. Phew, so glad none of the hostages were hurt!
  2. Wow... well, when you make it easy for thieves what can you expect- Also, anyone at all surprised this is happening in California? Anyone?
  3. https://lawandcrime.com/caught-on-video/if-i-could-give-you-jail-time-i-would-michigan-judge-shames-72-year-old-cancer-patient-for-being-too-weak-to-maintain-lawn/ A judge in Michigan has come under fire after she publicly upbraided a 72-year-old cancer patient for failing to properly maintain upkeep on his yard despite medical treatments leaving him frail and weak. Judge Alexis G. Krot on Wednesday told Burhan Chowdhury that he should be “ashamed” that his yard was an eyesore during a video hearing, even saying she would have him put him behind bars if it were within her power, Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV-TV reported. This judge is a piece of shite! I hope she gets recalled and fired for being an uncaring ass that should not be judging anything, anytime, anywhere.
  4. I do like Epic NPC man, but the problem I have with many of their videos is that they recycle material. They are funny, but everything gets a bit old after repeated usage. Honestly I like the direction their D&D series is going, and I like that it's new content. I thought the backstories episode was hilarious, and some of their videos is literally just them playing D&D - and just watching people play D&D is not my thing, but overall I'm enjoying their content very much
  5. Bump - if someone would like to trade, I still have the Special Edition available Box is open, but only the game has been played (other items still sealed) and it of course comes with everything.
  6. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/11/scientists-believed-covid-leaked-wuhan-lab-feared-debate-could/ Viscount Ridley, co-author of Viral: the search for the origin of Covid, said: “These emails show a lamentable lack of openness and transparency among Western scientists who appear to have been more interested in shutting down a hypothesis they thought was very plausible, for political reasons.” The new details came to light after members of the US Republican House Oversight Committee were granted access to the documents, after complaining that their content had been heavily redacted when released under Freedom of Information requests. The University of Edinburgh recently turned down an Freedom of Information request from The Telegraph asking to see Prof Rambaut’s replies, claiming “disclosure would be likely to endanger the physical or mental health and safety of individuals”. Well now, that is bullshite isn't it Edinburgh! Trying to save face, but far too late for that...
  7. Looks like a beautiful game! Are you going to open and play, or keep it sealed?
  8. Congrats!! I remember when there was talk of DQ IV being ported to North America, and then I vaguely remember Squeenix saying something like "nah, we can't find the code or some such" At least we got the wonderful DS remake, but what a lost opportunity for fans - but anyway, I'd love to see pics of your DQ collection
  9. Definitely an appropriate year for this classic...
  10. The 14 year-old is running the campaign, and he's doing a great job! The rest of us are having a good time, and the miniatures really add such a great element to the whole D&D world
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/nyregion/alvin-bragg-manhattan-da.html The district attorney, Alvin Bragg, told prosecutors in his office in a memo that they should ask judges for jail or prison time only for the most serious offenses — including murder, sexual assault and economic crimes involving vast sums of money — unless the law requires them to do otherwise. In a statement, the Detective’s Endowment Association, which represents 5,000 active police detectives in the city, said the changes would “undermine the ability of the police to make arrests that lead to reduction of crime.” https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-manhattan-da-alvin-bragg-crimes-not-prosecuted-changes-20220104-lmu23fwjc5dyvmdthv35tjot5e-story.html Bragg also set out a new policy on sentencing requests, saying that the office would request a maximum of 20 years in prison for all crimes that do not have a life-in-prison option. He also noted the office would never seek life without parole in any case. And the new administration will strive to limit the number of young people tried as adults, which Bragg said evidence shows will lower recidivism rates and make communities safer. Yeah, I think this is going to backfire spectacularly.
  12. For the holidays the oldest kid received a bunch of D&D stuff including some awesome Warlock minatures - everyone is having a great time! Anyone else here play traditional - pen & paper type RPGs? I have to say, the minature sets that are now readily available are so sweet...
  13. What's the saying - like a bull at a Chinese restaurant
  14. Another post-Soviet ‘ruler for life’ faces upheaval, as enormous protests sweep Kazakhstan https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/01/06/kazakhstan-nazarbayev-protest/ This week, after three decades of Nazarbayev-led rule, demonstrators in Kazakhstan launched into the fiercest protests of its post-Communist era. They began Sunday amid outrage about rising fuel prices, but soon the anger turned on the country’s first independent leader. Though Nazarbayev, 81, formally stepped down as president three years ago, he has become a target of demonstrators who are saying: “Old man, go away!” That slogan has become a rallying cry for protesters, many of whom are angered at Nazarbayev’s lingering role as a de facto ruler for life. Social media is flooded with footage of a statue of Nazarbayev being pulled down, while a presidential palace was reportedly stormed in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/troops-protesters-clash-almaty-main-square-kazakhstan-shots-heard-2022-01-06/ Police in the main city Almaty said they had killed dozens of rioters overnight into the early hours of Thursday morning. The authorities said at least 18 members of the security forces had died, including two found decapitated. More than 2,000 people had been arrested.
  15. Have to say, this is super disappointing. Soundtrack is just a "selection" which is lame - for the price you should get the complete soundtrack from both games. No artbook nor anything in-depth, just a bunch of kitsch stuff such as the pin etc. I don't even know what the point is of the "save point coffin box" - does it hold everything else? If this had something truly special, such as if it was signed by Iga, or some of the artists, I would be happy with that. But it's not. This is an easy pass for me.
  16. Although they got rid of the necessity for motion control, it's still awkward?
  17. Yeah, they do look... a tad different - granted they were younger
