Cinemassacre's deep analysis on TMNT1
buttheadrulesagain replied to buttheadrulesagain's topic in The Gauntlet
Did you watch the TMNT video? it's actually good, and even I, who has played this game for like 30 years now, did not know some things they said there, and they pointed out certain design decisions that resonate to me. I do not particularly like Mike Mattei a lot, but I think he really shines on this one. For comparison, I really disliked him when he reviewed the remake of Ducktales, he sounded too smug. -
Cinemassacre's deep analysis on TMNT1

Well, they devote more than half an hour to this, so they are capable of doing such things . They have other similar longer videos on other games. -
I really liked this one. It is a long video, but check it out. Mike Mattei really does a good job, and as an owner of this game from my childhood (one of the few I mastered), I can relate to a lot of things that they say in this video.

I agree, besides I am not doing super well XD . I participated in some of the first contests, but since I was largely inactive these past 2 years in NA I did not even try. -

VGS Weekly Contest - Tournament Round 1 - Popeye
buttheadrulesagain replied to BeaIank's topic in Events Archive
It's not that bad, it's pretty confortable. Also, it is fully customizable: can map the buttons anyway you want and the sensitivity of the L2/R2 triggers, AND the joysticks. The triggers are analog (though the Swith does not support it, but can work in PC I guess). I saw a reviewer saying that it's much better than the previous one if you use it with a smartphone and it's clip. -
The Pro+ is great for most 2d games, and even fighters (though I prefer a fight stick). It is a bit stiff, but it may loosen with use.

54030 I hate and love Bluto, he is a bit unpredictable and "cheats" on the platformer "rules" By trying to grab you, or jump on you from above, or uppercut you from below. -
So is the Polymega ever coming out?

In their FB page they just say there will be an announcement "soon" since this october, but that has not happened yet. -

Wata - A year and a half after
buttheadrulesagain replied to TheBiRD's topic in General Collecting Discussion
I know I'm late to the party (as always). It's great we have these debates on the direction of the hobby. I want to address this thought though. If I had a sealed Killer Tomatoes, I would keep it the way it is. If I was in financial hardship, or just getting off collecting, yes, I would send it to grade if that would guarantee me a better price. I do not think it would be unethical and/or incongruous with my dislike of grading. What is the option? sell it at a much lower price ungraded? that would be like throwing a glass of water in the desert. Nobody would give a damn about my "moral superiority" or "statement on the foul grading business" because I chose to sell my sealed game ungraded. Doing that in a climate where everyone does it just means I am hurting myself financially on purpose. Pretty much like those guys that open sealed games because "they are meant to be played". In a world where people will do one thing because of money, it does not pay to be altruist (see game theory). It's simply a maladaptive strategy. That does not mean that I hate WATA, but then love WATA the moment I have a sealed Mario Bros (I agree that'd be hypocritical). I despise grading for the way it takes the hobby, but (sorry for being reiterative) if I have to sell (not speculating, but to cover a need or getting off the train), I'll be damned if I would not use them. They are not doing anything illegal, and going against the current accomplishes nothing (just to lose money to make a statement that no one cares about). -

Feel the same. Grading stuff like toys, comics and now video games, seems to me very snobbish, and leads to unnecessary price inflation. Just send me some good quality damn pics and save me the pain of paying bazillion dollars more for an already expensive game. -
Timewalk - What happened??
buttheadrulesagain replied to TheBiRD's topic in General Collecting Discussion
I only got Mario Adventure from them, I repent on not buying Zelda Outlands. Mario came with a nice poster. I bought it because it could not be played in the Powerpak at the time (now it can be so I have my copy stored for display). -

Make sure your controller appears as a Device connected to your computer. I assume you are in Windows 10. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/103910-calibrate-game-controller-windows-10-a.html If it shows there, just go to MAME setup and map the buttons. Make sure to assign buttons for insert coin and start too. I believe you have to press TAB to bring the settings menu while running MAME.
