Y'know you might be surprised at how not close it is to a full set! I was shocked to learn the US Switch set has <1000 games. I have >1200 in mine but not close to a US full set lol. I basically try to skip anything mediocre or worse (shovelware), but some titles I have multiple variants of (for example Limited Run Games that come with Best Buy-specific cover variants, I might snag both), some are collector's editions, and some are imports. There's actually a massive list of crappy games a few hundred titles long that I haven't picked up and definitely don't plan to. Goin for quality and quantity as best I can, I guess lol.
  2. Ahhh you’re right, I read “so is it possible”, not “so it is possible” Big difference!
  3. Thanks dude, super appreciate you saying so. And for sure I'll organize the collector's editions, I just can't think of how to organize them based on anything other than height/dimensions at the moment but I'm open to suggestions! The reason they're not in precise descending order of height row to row, is because there is one shelf in these IKEA Billy bookcases (the middle shelf) that is not moveable, it is fixed in place (you'll see a consistent middle row of shelves all lining up through the room while all the other shelves are all modular). Tough to "Tetris" things in there to A) Keep the shelves looking full without big gaps, and B) To keep order to things in the process! It's a struggle I tell ya!
  4. Thanks 'Twizer! I've never told you this, but it was the semi-viral pictures of your Nintendo collection from 2013-2014 or so that really inspired me to take my collecting to another level. I remember looking at your walls of games and thinking: Amazeballs Guess things are coming full circle!
  5. Nah, couldn’t have her all in the way blocking everything! #GetOuttaTheWay Really? That’s wild, I haven’t even been there since a couple days after making a few posts there. That’s probably where everyone is always stealing my collection pics from that I keep seeing posted in other places
  6. Updated pic of the Switch collection. It’s taking over the damn game room Approx 1200 titles so far in total

I ended up buying mine from Jonebone about 5 years back (right after that little dry-up) and I think I paid him $250 shipped to Canada. Little "ouch" at the time for missing out and paying more, but no regrets in hindsight. It's my favourite gaming-related poster ever.

Couple of big ol’ flexy pics of the updated game room
  9. Man, this tickled me. Poor bastard, that Aaron. Back in my 20's I dated a couple of girls who had years-old exes still sending emails and desperate messages etc. Total "passive stalker" stuff. The exact opposite of what you should do if you ever want a second chance lol.
  10. #Accurate. I wish there was a list of the top 10 biggest instances of things like this happening.
  11. No, there has been no talk of a physical release, yet. I'd bet we'll eventually see one, but that hasn't yet been confirmed by anyone.
  12. Man, the nostalgia with this game was so powerful. The music all redone? I was instantly sold. I'm like you though, I have no idea how much of my love for this new game (and I do love this new game) comes from my fondness of the original. Like I'm not sure if someone trying this for the first time would think it's any good, but for fans of the original it's awesome.
  13. Atari 2600, followed by NES sometime later.
  14. Yeah anything in cloud format gets a big skip from me. If it's too big for the system, don't put it out I say.
  15. This is probably my most-anticipated beat 'em up of all time. River City Girls 2 ranks pretty high on the list as well, WayForward just kickin' balls when it comes to the beat 'em ups.
  16. Yeah there'll be more debate than ever on the definition of "full set", with literally hundreds of licensed "side-releases". Collector's editions and variants notwithstanding, even just a regular ol' standard Switch fullset would be a staggering achievement, and I'll be mindblown if anyone ever completes a set when the dust settles. We thought the Wii and DS had a giant library, the Switch library is gonna make 'em look small.
  17. Yeah you kinda hit the nail on the head, that's how it normally works. The Switch collecting crowd is made up of a larger number of people newer to collecting as far as I've observed, and it's one of those hot-and-cold things where a lot of questionable decision-making happens in the earlygoing. Like wild excitement and fervor at the start and then "whew ok this is a lot to keep up with", and thennn bail altogether and sell everything once they can't keep up and let go of the FOMO. Many hares in the game, few tortoise'. Another added variable in Switch full-set collecting that separates it from how we would normally collect full sets is the massive abundance of limited and collector's edition games. You'd think that little barrier of entry alone would be enough to hinder most from the pursuit. Like, sure you can collect all 2,000+ physical games, buuuut do you have a copy of Crayola Horsie Adventures with the little stylus pen that only 200 copies were made of, and only sold at select Chapters locations in western Canada during the summer of 2019? Or all seven versions of Streets of Rage 4? It's gonna wind up being the hardest console of all time to collect a full set for (and probably one of the least worthwhile to, given how the shovelware releases are really starting to hit a stride) by the time the life cycle of the system is over. A full set in 2024-25 or whatever would look insane.
  18. Oh dude, 100%. I started slow on the Switch for that very reason. I saw so many commit to a full set early and I thought, "you're gonna regret that". Most bailed off the bandwagon within 6 months and only a few have really stuck it out and committed to a full set, but holy shit do I ever feel sorry for those dudes every time I see a new batch of weekly releases, and it's 2 decent games along with $700 worth of games ranging from mediocre to shovelware. The Switch is the kind of system where even if you set your collecting standards to games that are "pretty good or better", you're still gonna have a zillion games.
  19. Nice to see the Switch thread going strong still - I feel like it's been about 75% of my collection since it came out, I just don't think anybody foresaw this volume of releases coming out for it.
  20. Damn guys, I haven't been to the site in months, and now it's going to take me months to even get caught up on this thread. I don't even like popcorn, but I feel like I should buy a machine just for the catch-up. Good to see you all anyway, I plan to be a regular part of the site from here on out.
  21. It’s actually kinda weird since I’ve had an FB account. Opened A “fake” one up for gaming groups and marketplace, and I must say that the news on FB always hits several days before it reaches here. This Cooking Mama thing has already gone through allllll the motions, this legal thing was known about a week ago, the controversy peaked, crested, became tiresome, and now people call for bans for people still talking about Cooking Mama lol. I’ve always rolled my eyes at Facebook because who the hell wants to watch their random grade 9 classmates’ kids grow up, but man is it ever up to the minute on the news. Cooking mama was dropped from the devs website, then they put it back up and tried to scalp their own product for $59 instead of the original $39, they faced intense fan backlash, and now it’s back up available for that original $39 again. It’s still available at shop.cookingmamacookstar.com now. But all that rollercoaster happened and news of the legal thing is just breaking here. I’m almost mad at myself for spoiling the rest, it would be interesting to see if the rest of the news on it slowly rolled out on tape delay
  22. I had that epiphany the very first time I went to go spend money on a shitty game (And as it turned out, yes, I did).
  23. “All you set collectors”? Do we have any Switch full set collectors here?
  24. Annnnd this is why it’s not a good idea to board the hype train on a game too early. This post aged terribly, with multiple restocks hitting online stores since with no buy limit. I just bought one each for my friend and I for 59 bucks each. People who shelled out hundreds for one of these in a FOMO frenzy are going to learn a valuable lesson here.
