  1. I hadn't thought about that. I don't see why pick a certain version, don't want to force people to spend monies or something. Mine is a digital copy of the 07 release.
  2. Woo. The first book had been chosen. The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. This will be discussion thread for the book. However I did ask before you write something please label your post with like the chapter or page number your on so that way if someone isn't that far yet they can easily avoid the post. Or just use the spoiler function. Post can be about what you did or didn't like, something that caught your attention in the story, etc.. this isn't highschool literature class, you won't be failed for not being complex enough. Current goal is to have book finished by end of April and then we will vote again. As always feel free to provide suggestions and feedback. happy reading!
  3. Not dinner per day but it's a blueberry, raspberry, and apple vegan crumble. Which has almonds, pecans, and walnuts in it. Idk if I can wait for it to cool off.
  4. That's Neverehere for me. If we don't get to it, I'm definitely going to be reading.
  5. Just got sale notice that among us on switch is a whole $4 instead of $5
  6. I'll make sure to add it to next one. There is a thread for suggestions just for tracking purposes
  7. We are voting on the first book this week if you wanted to join in. Choices include The Colour of Magic (disc world books #1), Neverehere by Neil Gaiman, All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and French Exit by Patrick deWitt.
  8. I played MHG on switch before Rise and so far in rise I am noticing it's not as grind heavy. Like I'm already being offered equipment and armor builds without needing to spend hundred hours getting mats. Also fair to mention I haven't does yet, I did that a lot in MHG lol.
  9. The customize on this was ridiculously awesome to me. You could spend forever playing with it. What did you name your pets? Mine were Biscuits and Gravy.
  10. Today brunch was a first for me. Made an all vegan brunch including: smashed red potatoes topped with kite hill sour cream, beyond meat spicy breakfast sausage, roasted tomatoes, a tofu scramble, and french toast that's made from vegan zucchini bread with cranberries and walnuts in it. Never tried the tofu scramble or these sausages before and they turned out to be very yummy. 10/10 would recommend. Love trying new stuff.
  11. Hello everyone! This is the first poll to determine our book to read together. Timeline is to ideally let voting happen now until 4/2 and then on 4/3 announce the chosen book. To keep the reading window nice and open to cater to everyone's reading speeds I'd like to have the completion goal to finish the book by 4/30. I plan on making like a weekly check in thread if you have questions about the reading or thoughts you'd like to share and then just repeat the process. As always feel free to give suggestions! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Blurbs of each voting choice: The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place which might sound and smell like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried through space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). If you’re new to the Discworld don’t worry, you’re not alone . . . Twoflower is the Discworld’s first tourist, he’s exceptionally naive and about to get himself into an array of dangerous and fantastical situations on his travels. And if that didn’t sound fateful enough, it’s the spectacularly inept wizard, Rincewind who is charged with safely chaperoning Twoflower and his Luggage (a walking suitcase that has half a mind of its own and a homicidal attitude to anything threatening) during his visit. Safe to say chaos ensues… The Discworld novels can be read in any order but The Colour of Magic is the first Discworld book. It is also the starting point in the Wizards collection, followed by The Light Fantastic Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman Under the streets of London there's a place most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armour and pale girls in black velvet. This is the city of the people who have fallen between the cracks. Richard Mayhew, a young businessman, is going to find out more than enough about this other London. A single act of kindness catapults him out of his workday existence and into a world that is at once eerily familiar and utterly bizarre. And a strange destiny awaits him down here, beneath his native city: Neverwhere French Exit by Patick deWitt Frances Price – tart widow, possessive mother, and Upper East Side force of nature – is in dire straits, beset by scandal and impending bankruptcy. Her adult son Malcolm is no help, mired in a permanent state of arrested development. And then there’s the Prices' aging cat, Small Frank, who Frances believes houses the spirit of her late husband, an infamously immoral litigator and world-class cad whose gruesome tabloid death rendered Frances and Malcolm social outcasts. Putting penury and pariahdom behind them, the family decides to cut their losses and head for the exit. One ocean voyage later, the curious trio land in their beloved Paris, the City of Light serving as a backdrop not for love or romance, but self destruction and economical ruin – to riotous effect. A number of singular characters serve to round out the cast: a bashful private investigator, an aimless psychic proposing a seance, a doctor who makes house calls with his wine merchant in tow, and the inimitable Mme. Reynard, aggressive houseguest and dementedly friendly American expat. Brimming with pathos and wit, French Exit is a one-of-a-kind ‘tragedy of manners,’ a riotous send-up of high society, as well as a moving mother/son caper which only Patrick deWitt could conceive and execute All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?
  12. As for price it goes for 35-40 on ebay for splatty if people's wanted to find it cheap as they can. Or at target it appears to be 43 without needing a sale according to their site.
  13. My game choices as very obvious compared to yours in these post hahha.
  14. Naw just not the biggest fan of among us. Honestly I'd love to know how many have splatoon or smash again. But it's a group decision so whatever y'all want it good.
  15. I don't know enough about among to know about a new map to be honest. I'll definitely still join in, but probably not too many games sadly.
  16. Thanks for getting the ball rolling. I'll post a poll on Sunday 3/28 to determine the first read!!
  17. Just wanted to update: made some post on the club page to get things started if anyone was interested.
  18. Please submit your reading suggestions here and if you want a brief statement on the book so others can understand what it would be about.
  19. Hello, my name is Mandy and I wanted to try something a little different with the book club here on VGS. Firstly it's going to be more open in terms of what books we can read together, not just video game based or associated. I would like to hold a poll made up of user suggestions to determine which book we will read as a group. There will be a thread open for suggestions and then another will open about a week after with the first poll. Id love to have a book picked by mid-April or so. As always I am totally open to suggestions on this process!
  20. My cats are too spoiled and get all the toys. But I couldn't pass this one up for the life of me.
  21. I vote tournament as long as @drxandydon't end up facing each other, only one game copy.
  22. Update: hey guys im working on getting the club updated this week and hopefully next week we can start on voting on our first book. Open to feedback and suggestions here or in the club. thanks so much!!
