  1. Good Morning @ApebitMusic I don't get you wrong, in fact I totally agree with you. Now that music got democratized, it's accessible to everybody. To listen and to make so yeah it's now ''easy'' to make music. From there people do they own things on a more personal level or do music to appeal to others... There's a lot of people with a lot of talent that get no recognization and there's talentless people that are popular and overestimed. I think it's not even about the talent anymore... You need contacts and a fair amount of luck too. When I was talking about the '50 and the ''singles'' era, there was independent acts for sure(I dare imagine), but most music was produced by producers and ordered by different executives of by studios and they were the ones choosing the artists, they had a lot more of powers during that period. They really controlled the biggest part of the market and they were directing it with the trends. A lot of them were probably only sharks but there was a lot of passionate people too that just want to make and put music out and this position was the ideal to build up a catalog of music they choosed because they loved it...Have you seen the movie HIGH FIDELITY? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146882/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5 I really connect with John Cusack's character. He got half of my dreams... but I'm arriving late into the game, so the ambitions got put aside (don't feel like conquering the world) and I decided to follow the passion. I'm a musician, producer that decided putting his own music out on his own unpretentious music label and building up a catalog with my stuffs in the hope that I can gather more people and music projects into this label which I visualize more like a community. (Right now we are two.) More importantly, building up a catalog of music that I love to talk about and promote like it was the musical center of my world. In a moment I will share 2 links with you regarding what I do. Honestly, I appreciate that you like the idea of a compilation of some sort. I think that I would appreciate to promote your music here in Montréal.
  2. Pretty interesting! Welcome ! Never played any Amstrad.
  3. Good morning @ApebitMusic Yes in deed, the market is saturated and is not really there anymore. When you join the chiptunes clubs, if you did, you probably realized that you were in a ocean of music. Put resume: in the '50-'60 it was a ''Singles'' mentality then in the '70 it was the full album that was put in the front... and now with the dematerialization, we are going back to that ''Singles'' mentality. The cd, the album, the physical object itself is becoming less important again and the people have a reduced attention span more than ever. There's so many music coming out everyday, nobody can follow for real... So yeah, I don't think there's the market for that anymore, but music that is not getting physically release will be totally lost at some point and the same goes with the movies so I still appreciate the format and many people still do, I still buy cd, I'm putting music out myself and at some point I'm gonna do some release, but I will simply be more carefull in choosing what I put out on cd, exemple, a compilation of the best of songs of many of my sub-projects. I would not be surprise if there's some compilation effort of some kind within the Chiptune Club to put out some independant music, let me know! I might have something to suggest you, but I want to think about it a little more before.
  4. Yes somehow I remember. I was on Unsigned and Bandcamp and I was looking for new music, unknown music and unpublished music and was going from artist to artist and that's how I fell on your bandcamp. I remember because I liked the art and the concept behind Vision Of The Three, it literally a OST for a RPG and the art is just perfect and what I like is that it sounds like you did not overdone it. Playging Dragon Warrior III while listening to your music is a great mix ... Did you made any physically release of this project ?
  5. Hey ! @ApebitMusic I did listened to Vision Of The Three on my own before you pop up here. I gotta to say that I appreciate your music
  6. Welcome ! Nice Store ! Congratulation
  7. I'm playing Dragon Warrior III on the NES.
  8. @DoctorEncore Yo Doc! So I repeat, the videos are not official. The link of an enigmatic music project linked with a sci-fi short literary novel was there.
  9. Welcome! Pretty cool that you getting towards the end. How many games left ?
  10. COPY THAT... in the sense... let me know lol ?! It made no sense, I'm tired I go to sleep and I will erase by tomorrow.
  11. @DoctorEncore Sorry for the delay !! ...but anyway, I could have not show you want I wanted as I'm a noob on Youtube and did amateur mistakes. First videos I post. Now all is good. This is one of my musical project. There's a story a mini story that goes with the songs, but that's for another day. These are not the official videos, I just did it to put it on YT to help me out find a graphist for the cover. COPY THAT ? I erased the link after. Don't share please, thank you PS. I think it's better listen in order and high LOL XD
  12. Hi Halcyo so the first and only post you did in the last 20h was only this one ?! What kind of music do you like to write/compose ? and from where do you come from just in case I want to hold it against you ?
  13. These are the words of a fair and wise man. My respect.
  14. Hi! i'm in the process of downsizing my cd collection so I'm listening a shitload of stuff: Today I've listened and I will depart: Scorpion Crazy World Duran Duran - Astronaut Phil Collins - ...Hits! Red Hot Chili Peppers - What's Hit?! The Soup Dragons - Hotwired Large Number - Spray On Sounds Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming The 3 last days I did listened to a loOot more. I'm in overdrive mode. I'm taking advantage of the confinement to go throught. Almost there !
  15. Good morning @frankiesomethin ! I feel you. I've probably took an an hour before just to come up with the perfect names for characters in RPG. Right now listening to my collection steady like that in the morning is more of a work in the sense that I most cut off like 450-500 cds and it's breaking my head because I'm painstakingly considering every damn cd. I'm getting there thought !! Another intense 50h and I should be done. There's some stuffs I never or almost never listen to because could not keep up with my bundle buying opportunities. I did exagerated during these years, but I had a conceptual coffee shop project that I killed off in the last year. Hightlights from yesterday: Coleman Hawkins - The Hawk Flies High The Flaming Lips - The Terror Le Tigre - Feminist Sweepstakes My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Vampire Weekend - Self-titled and a russian punk-folk band that I just can't read what's on the cover. My stereo is a wave system of Bose. The sound quality is GREAT but the swallowing cd frontal technology is not. It stratch a dozen or 2 of cds over the years and regularly it do not want read a cd and I have to insist 2-3-6 times. I don't think I would ever suggest if because of that.
  16. My current collection goal is to bring that my collection to the essentials. In the last years I sold all my collection except was related to NES, SNES, GENESIS, Turbografx, GB, GBC, GBA ... damn !! I'm have vivid Vietgam memories here !! I just decided to keep my focus on my first loves the 8 and 16 bits and even those collections got trimmed down of hundred of games. Then, I started to do list of what I want on each of these systems and I try hard to shorten those lists from time to time. The most definitive list I have is the NES one and as I'm into the homebrews, the focus of my purchase is mainly on that console because that list is growing up out of homebrews and I would like one day to be up to date and only have to ''worry'' on the new games coming up. Also, I started 2 years ago to buy some retrogamecases.com for my NES and SNES essentials. The look is neat of the shelves and want more of those too. NES wishlist countdown: OFFICIAL US: 28 FAMICOM: 11 REPRO: 25 HOMEBREWS: 30
  17. Mouahahah feels you @Scrobins. It got better in the last 3 years as I sold a lot of games and movies, but if always made me feels ashamed or something to bring someone at my place... always feels like I need to justify myself and putting them in a context so I don't really bring anybody in. But I took the control back I'm really getting there and I try to not think of the movies and games I sold and overall, I feel better at home.
  18. Mmm is this sarcasm ?! It's productive in the way I do other things while absorbing theses hours of music per day. This cleansing is good for the head and spirit. Confinement got me closer to my books too. I read a chapter per day more or less and it feels good to have all this time ahead. I never been less anxious.
  19. @frankiesomethin That was a nice story! I would not be surprise that it's hers. That's a beautiful record player model you got ! the round shape, the eq and stuffs in the front. If the sound is good and everything works, I think I would repair those speakers. However, can you change the speakers if there's anything ? I saw that they did a stand for it. That's pretty neat. Personally, I have no place for vinyls so I don't know if I will ever pass that bridge. I got a shitload of cds. I'm in the process of downsizing my collection. I bought some wood boxes at Rona and imposed myself this maximum space. I took advantage of the confinement to put time in listening a maximum of cds per day and sort them all. I start my mornings like that My music taste is eclectic not a lot of boundaries and lot of contradictions, but there's less and less heavy band that I get to appreciate to the point of digging into them. For a long time I had the habit (and opporunities) to buy cds 0.10$ to 1$ each and sometimes 2$ by bunch and I was having kicks going through all the music that I did not know or even like ahah so many songs, so many prayers, so many people looking for something out there and unheard. Of course, I never managed to be on top of my back catalog, but getting there in the last 2 years and it feels good ! Many goodbyes.
  20. Welcome @frankiesomethin ! and GooOOOOood Morning Montréal! Pretty cool that you are a cabinetmaker! One time I made a super solid wood furniture for the biggest tube tv I've seen of my life and was weight like 250-300 pounds. Anyway I loved that experience. I'm a lot into NES and music too. What type of records are you collecting ? Cd ? Vynil ? cassette ?
  21. @KHAN Games I would like to have one too if they are not all reserved
