It was shipped by deutsche post standard, I don't think I can do a claim. I paid for it back when pre orders went live back in April.

They responded today and want me to send it back first and say they will reimburse me for shipping. Not sure I want to do this since the shipping will be around $50 priority mail international.

But it seems like I have no other choice.

You should send them the shipping quote. A sensible seller would look at that and make things right. Especially in their case since their costs are significant less than the games price. Add that to the fact that shipping from them to the US is significantly less than the other direction

They had a rough year, but I agree with jone that they aren't on the verge of bankruptcy or anything.

Their most recently published fiscal year report showed a loss of about 700 million (ouch!), compared to profit from the previous two years.  However, they still have a decent amount of equity (over a billion), and are clearly making changes (closing stores, other changes) to stop the bleeding and hopefully shift course.

Their bread and butter in terms of gross profit margin, has always been pre-owned items - and they've had declining sales in that area for a couple years now.  They've increased sales in collectibles and accessories, but their margins on those are significantly lower.

They are making some serious changes in response to their recent performance, including selling off subsidiaries, closing down stores, reducing overhead, etc.  They're definitely going to continue to struggle with the changing game market, but they are clearly aware of the gravity of the situation and trying to change course.

I actually hope they survive and hang on.  As much as people like to complain about gamestop (myself included at times), I do still like having them as an option, and I think they still provide at least some valuable services.

I like ❤️ Gamestop and hope they could stick around. The employees can be socially challenging, but I’ve only had good experiences with prices and quality.

That said, Gamestop currently has no vision. How can they operate like this? The new ceo said they will be redefining their strategic direction due to the new industry trends, but they still have not outlined how.

I see cost reduction measures like share buybacks, store consolidation, headcount reduction. They sold Spring Mobile for $700M, but now it looks like they are trying to build another cell phone business, (presumably so they can sell it again for another several hundred additional millions??)

The fact that they don’t have any major announcements for refining their core game business and their loss of focus (getting back into cell phones) tells me they don’t have a clear vision going into the future.. That’s not good because the market has changed and they can’t keep doing the same thing and expect it to work.

  3. Just picked up a Megaman x buster cannon for my brother 70% off. Also a genesis classic mini for $34. 😁

Chatted with the guy in this store who I’ve chatted with on and off for the past 5 years. He’s not going to relocate.. said the writings on the wall for Gamestop. He’ll be learning new skills to get out of retail

I'm playing through Yoshi's Story on SNES and at the end of each level you get a grade from 0-100 based on how many stars, red coins, and flowers you finish the level with. Prior to this I played through Super Mario World which has many secrets and hidden levels, and tracks that progress on the save select screen.

Got me wondering how often you all take the time to get the 100%, especially on these older games. It can feel pretty good knowing you have a cart with a "complete" save on it that you've earned yourself, but also often time consuming. I myself spent a number of years chasing platinum trophies and 100%s on PlayStation games for trophies.

How often do you all complete your games? Do you feel it's worth your time to do so? Or do you feel you've gotten enough out of your games by simply reaching the end?

Yoshi island is a tough one to 100%. I only ever got 100% on the first world. Then beat the special stages but couldn’t 100% them.. then I quit...

Still wondering what kind of special stages there are in the other worlds. Ah well 😐

  5. Just wanted to get on here to express my dissatisfaction.  Nintendo had a sale for 50% off their NES controller joycons on the 9th and 10th. You had to login before it would let you place an order.

I clicked on the login button probably 30-40 times at various times between those two days and every time I did it, I’d get some 800 error page.

Now that the sale is over, the page is working again. Cmon Nintendo, if you didn’t want to let them go that cheap, just don’t advertise a 50% off sale. That’s lame

  6. This chart is a strong case for not releasing a switch pro right away. Tapering console sales would trigger a system refresh.

That said, new consoles are announced from Sony and Microsoft. If Nintendo is to rely on ports that were primarily developed for the more powerful platforms, then they’ll need a more powerful console. I guess the question to ask is how much do Nintendo console sales depend on PlayStation/Xbox ports?

  7. Definitely 95+% of games will be cross compatible in order to ease the transition.

A switch pro will need a strong lineup of 6-10 titles that take advantage of pro capabilities on day one. You’ll hear leaks from some developers about their pro titles as we approach the pro launch date.

Then again if enough leaks come out, Nintendo may as well announce it themselves just so that we’d hear it from them before it becomes too obvious.

  8. Nintendo is still enjoying strong sales with the standard switch and the lite version. A new product would not introduce new sales, it would just take away from sales that are already happening with their current products.

Even if they have a complete switch pro design ready to go to the market today, they are probably going to keep it in the back pocket until the current console sales start to slow down a little.

  9. In the early 2000’s the internet was still a slightly geeky thing for many people. Dial up modem was still a thing. People still checked out books at libraries to do research. Phone books and phone booths were still a thing in some places.

Not every store was accepting credit cards. I remember in 2003 or 2004 I was turned away from a McDonalds because I did not have cash and they didnt take cards.

Cell phones still had buttons until the iPhone came out in 2007, even then there wasn’t really the concept of third party apps until later. Biggest major iPhone competitor at the time was the Sidekick.

Youtube used to have zero ads. However streaming tv was nonexistent due to speeds nowhere near where it is today so cable providers used to market specific tv channels, as opposed to higher speeds for streaming.

  10. I just completed Venture Kid. Bought it during the eshop holiday sale for a discount. It took me three days, but I beat it.

Have to say that this was probably my favorite indie title so far on Switch. And I have 100 or so indie games, including Celeste, Blossom Tales, Battle Princess Madelyn, etc.

Its just a very well done Megaman NES clone. It’s a short but sweet. I would venture to say that it may arguably do the Megaman formula better than Megaman does in some ways.

Would highly encourage anyone who enjoys Megaman to check this game out.

  11. Some guy on reddit did some extensive latency tests. Cliff notes of what he says is:

-All tv tests are done in game mode.. Non-game mode adds ~40-60ms latency
    -NES w/CRT latency is ~32ms
    -SNES w/CRT latency is ~50ms
-On modern Samsung flatscreens, all systems (original and mini’s) have 95+ms latency
-On some older flatscreens, latency can be as low as 83ms
-On some PC monitor displays latency can be as low as 73ms
-NES inherently has less latency than SNES

-SNES mini inherently has less latency than NES mini

Based on this sounds like the thing to do is use a low latency PC monitor. Then your only 23ms slower than an SNES on a CRT.

I tried to cite his link, but it displays the entire website in my post..😓
