Do we permit players to continue playing on their maxed score in order to get further in rounds? There's no way to know if someone stop playing or not.
There is. The score rolls over, resets and they keep gaining points.

I like that actually, do you @BeaIank ? Anyone else with opinions/objections?
I am perfectly fine with that tie break rule change.
-
As long as you haven't rolled the score and thus getting the cut of 999,999 points, it is perfectly okay to take the picture off the high score screen.
If you max the score, we need to know what round you are and how many lives left you have.

Main and genre scoreboards updated.
@bertsampson opens a very significant lead over @skinnygrinny at the main scoreboard, with 12 points of advantage.
He can even sit a week out without Skinny being able to reach him even if he wins the contest that week.
Can anyone stop the cyborg in the year 2020?- 1

24 participants, and in order to place, a score over 153K points was needed.
This was quite the week of adventure.
Thanks to you all for participating and making this contest what it is. And congratulations to @Kid Dracula for his victory!- 3

I will ask for @guillavoie's input on this matter.
Since the game doesn't force progress, maybe we should force it through the rules somehow.
Progression + lowest score with a score rollover safe cut would be a way to do it. Then if someone can max the score, he would be forced to try to max it as late as possible. -

Round 23

Like other Doug, I may resort to point pressing level 1 due to how the rules have been set up. I prefer to play "properly" but here we are.
We can always make it progress + low score.
I just don't want the winner being decided by whom has the most time to sit in front of the TV to make a longer run through, looping the score endlessly. -
Thank you all for participating once more. You are all the life of this contest.
I will be posting the final scoreboard and updating the main and genre scoreboards later today. -

This is an impressive score. I believe you died at world 7, correct?

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
WHO IS READY FOR SOME ARCADE ACTION?This week our brave gladiators will brace through A CLASSIC! Millipede on the NES.
We will be in for some hot and steamy arcade action for sure! Here's the rules our mighty ones will follow:
- Play 1 player mode A
- Play till game over
- If you roll over the score, pause the game, take a picture and stop playing. Your score will be 999,999 in this case.
- In case of multiple people scoring 999,999, the tiebreaker will be furthest progression! Players need to take a picture every time when they reset the rounds counter (99, 199, 299, etc) to keep track of the rounds.
- Highest score wins
The contest ends Sunday, 04/12/20 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.

me: "wtf am i risking the only life i have for a 50 point carrot that is hanging over certain doom?"
This is the proper mindset to play a 1 life only contest.

Adventure Island has to be 1 life.
Once you die and lose your weapon, it becomes a totally different, much harder game. No point in forcing people to keep playing for points once they lose the axe/fire.- 1

I feel like setting up a retropie and giving this one a run this week.
I no longer have a functional CRT TV, so playing this on the Phantom is a no go since my gaming monitor only accepts HDMI. -
