We've just added a new way to sign up and/or in to VGS - Twitter!

If you are new to the forum you can sign up using you Twitter account:

For those of us who already have an account, you can sign into your account on the Account Settings page: https://www.videogamesage.com/settings/

Associating your account makes it so you can log in using your Twitter account (and their external authorization system), as well as make sharing posts to Twitter a bit easier. Something about a little checkbox to share on Twitter when you make a new post or something I dunno. Social media is weird.

FOLLOWUP!

There's a list of other applications we can allow people to sign up and into on VGS, would any of these interest anyone? I might add Google instinctively. Do you guys think Facebook might have merit? I don't have a Facebook so...

Can you add Google pls?

I always forget my VGS password, I have to change it literally every time I clear my cookies or log in on a new device.

Allowing people to use their social media (or other) accounts like this is common practice. It provides an easy way for people people to log in to the site if they choose to do so in this way; it's one less account that you have to worry about, as you simply need to know your social media account login in order to access this site.

Data has shown that users tend to be dissuaded from joining a site without this feature as they don't want to have to fill out yet another registration form, remember another username/password (not everyone uses a password manager), or in the case of forgetting their login info, go through the recovery process.

If you have some concern with you feature you're welcome to let me know and I will be happy to further explain.

It's entirely opt-in, too. You can simply choose to ignore the feature if you don't want to use it. The option is merely there for those who want it.

Whats up with the ones marked out?  Are like Pornhub or something?  Also I like the LinkedIn as an option.  After all, VGS is some serious business.  A lot of people seem to be professional gamers given their scores they pump out on NES Weekly Challenge.  But yeah, Google would be best.  I wish my Microsoft account allowed me to log-in with my Google account credits.

I hate Facebook, you should be happy you don't use it.  I long into my FB account about one every 6 months and remember why I don't use it.  In general I do use any social media account to talk with friends.  Twitter is fun to see what "famous" people are posting.

For a new person to encourage them to make an account I'd say Google, Twitter, & Facebook should be used.
