I had meticulously automated the formatting of this table for NA, so give me some time to get it looking ok on here. For now we're good to just keep beating games. Standard rules apply: - Photos are not required, but are highly encouraged, especially for less common games. - You must begin and finish the game in 2019. - No cheats and no Gameshark codes. - Saving/continues/passwords are ok, as long as you didn't look up the passwords and the whole game was started and finished in 2019. - Emulators are accepted but don't use them for any unfair advantages over original hardware. - Virtual Console is fine; no 3DS ports or remakes. - You're welcome to let us know what game(s) you're working on, so that we don't duplicate our efforts, but no hard "dibs" rules will be enforced. I like the first game, it has this early N64 charm and weirdness that holds a place in my heart. I was expecting a lot more out of this game, by comparison, but they really didn't push it any further at all, very similar to the first game, but just not as interesting or well designed. The AI in the hardest difficulty is broken AF, you need to make every turn and drift to perfection otherwise one single bump or mistake will cost you the race. I played the sequel, Global Assault, last year, and this is a very similar game overall. Loads of levels, each of which are quite different from the other in terms of design, great control and imaginative set pieces. The game looks pretty good too, lots of detail to the graphics, although frame rate and camera control can let the experience down at times. It is an easy game, I have to say, and the mission objectives in each stage are a little formulaic, but it's a fun time through and through, and there's enough content to give you the feeling of a worthwhile experience. Highly recommended for 3D platformer fans, and Disney/Toy Story fans! Also, check out A Bug's Life by the same developers, it's not AS good or as polished as this, but there's still a game worth playing in that too IMO. I was hoping to finish Jet Force Gemini tonight, but I've hit a brick wall upon reaching the final boss. I can probably best him, but I'm going to have to backtrack to find ammo upgrades etc. and I simply don't have the time left in the upcoming days to play. I have a couple back up games ready to go to try and brute force the 40 game target, but even then it's even odds if I will find the time I need to beat them. Nonetheless, this year has been one of great personal, professional, and indeed gaming and collecting development and achievement. Couldn't really have asked for a better 2019, and even though I've never worked harder in my life, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Here's to the struggles that make life worth living. Here's to the challenges that make you better by overcoming them. Here's to the failures that make you stronger after you dust yourself off and try again. Here's to you, one and all, the gamers who always choose to continue after they game over! If I don't see you before, happy new year, good luck and god bless. Yeah man, unfortunately December was crazy and busy this year and I didn't get down to any more N64 games. This thread is an interesting one, because every other thread either beats every game with some regularity (NES) or has never done it at all. (all others.) But 2018 was a victory for N64 so there's no real need to change anything... do we just reset as usual for 2020? Clean the slate completely? See how long it takes to do it again? It would be neat to incorporate some other form of competition or something, but it's probably not worth it given our recent traffic. I'm fine if this just stays a casual place for us to play and discuss N64 games. Or at least, for OptOut to play and discuss N64 games. I'll put a new bulb in the Splain alert. A quick run through of Perfect Dark puts me on 39, and so all that's standing in my way is the final boss of Jet Force Gemini. I've been practicing, and I am almost there with it... Then I'll be half as good! Well, to tell you the truth, I am planning to give the N64 a bit of a break this year myself. Two years+ of hardcore N64 gaming has squeezed out some other systems I really want to put some time into, including OG XBOX and NES. I probably WILL end up playing quite a few N64 games, but I would say my efforts are going to be mainly focused elsewhere in 2020. So, the field is wide open again! Hopefully as VGS grows in the new year, we will see more activity in the N64 thread and the site as a whole! Cheers fellows, and Happy New Year!
