Licensed NES games not mentioned in Nintendo Power

Recommended Posts

I was reviewing Nintendo Power magazines and noticed no mention of Swamp Thing or Mickey’s Adventures in Numberland in any issue.  I noticed lots of games that never came to fruition NTSC, but no mention of these games.  Were any other NES games not mentioned at all, which debuted during Nintendo Power’s print run?

I went through each issue of NP years ago and made a list of how much coverage each game got. There were 63 games that didn't get any coverage at all, you can see the full list here:

  1. Die Hard (Activision)

I heard a rumour from one of the developers of Die Hard that this game was exclusively sold at Toys R' Us, and the lack of presence in NP aids to that idea too

Yeah, it has a review score, but nothing else. I counted this as one page for Where's Waldo:

I suppose technically I could've given Waldo half of a page, and then divided the other half among the other games (which would've given Sesame Street about 0.05 of a page). I didn't count the scores by themselves as "coverage" though. I imagine many of the 63 games got a review score, or a mention on the list of upcoming titles at least.

  • Ninja Crusaders (Natsume)

I'm not sure where you picked up that information, but Natsume had nothing to do with Ninja Crusaders. It was published by Sammy and developed by NMK

(NMK weren't credited, so various sources are inconsistent about that one, but I'm 100% convinced they did it. It's confirmed their go-to music guy did the music, and Sammy published a few other NMK games, so it sounds logical)

Yo! Noid not being in Nintendo Power is shocking.  I always viewed it as a common game.  I remember multiple friends in grade school having this game.

Hell I remember seeing it in magazines over here, where it wasn't even released.

oh, interesting.  It actually didn't dawn on me that the game got a review score, but no actual review. Yeah, good call.

Was going off of pure memory, so I mistook it for Shadow of the Ninja.
