Alder 241 Member ·
What are some good online resources for information about the Famicom, Famicom Disk System, and the games that were released for it? Are there any comprehensive lists out there regarding cartridge colors, types, scans, variants, original contents, release dates, etc? I'm not sure how accurate the information is on Wikipedia, but the only other websites I've found are http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/ and https://famicomworld.com/

Tanooki 4,557 Member ·
This is in no way complete, but the nice coverage, omake extras, and the little mini reviews are pretty helpful if you're looking for some learning/light reading. http://www.videogameden.com/fc.htm http://www.videogameden.com/fds.htm Normally I would not have thought of this at all, but keep the site bookmarked for the HuCard (PCE) stuff.
scaryice 453 Member ·
One of my favorite sites is famicoms.net - it's in Japanese, though. Use google translate. There's a lot of fun variants to watch out for - the no-LED Irem games, the Namco re-releases, the picture versions of pulse carts, etc. There's actually quite a few of them.
Tulpa 2,840 Member ·
This site has a pretty impressive Famicom collage. It's not complete (missing Dezaemon, among others), but still cool to see some pics of the cartridges. https://retro-video-gaming.com/famicom-cartridge-collage/ Edited December 4, 2019 by Tulpa
dvertov 177 Member ·
Hardcore Gaming 101 released an outstanding book about the Famicom Disk System. Not much on variants, but it does have at least a blurb write-up on literally every game released for the console, its relative rarity in the wild, and level of Japanese proficiency required to play it. You can get a PDF copy for only $5 here: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/books/hg101-presents-the-complete-guide-to-the-famicom-disk-system/

Just rec'd their Kickstarter book on obscure Japanese games, great quality.
