i can understand that.  I'm also not sure how since I like classic rock, but I've never heard Whiskey In a Jar.  Not a bad tune, and I think Don't Bring Me Down is good, but not great.  I had a tough time rating a song I'd heard for the first time over another one though, so I went with what I knew.

A bunch of bands have covered it over the years. Metallica even won a Grammy with their cover.

I've always enjoyed the Metallica version.

This one was sort of difficult to decide because it was several bands I like, but the songs were all far from my favorites.

I do, too, but my favorite version is the Dubliners, sung in the traditional style. I'm a fan of Irish drinking songs (have my own Pandora station and everything.)

Though I suspect the Metallica version sounds close to a real Irish bar at 3am when everyone's drunk off their ass.
