  1. I think I'm gonna do Blaster Master next. Or ill give it one shot today. Its not that hard until the very end but its a LONG game. Even knowing what to do it usually takes me close to 2 hrs. This game would be loved so much more if it ONLY has a simple password feature.
  2. Well as an 'easier' one I finished Shatterhand. One of the first games I bought when I started getting my NES stuff because my friends always talked about how great it was. It wasn't too bad but I kept messing up the last part. I remember always going into the final boss fully powered and just beating him in one shot, but I kept messing up, so this time I had to beat him, fist only with the green jacket. Dunno how I did it but I did it.
  3. I did it!!! I can't believe it, I beat Darkman. Funny that to me the hardest parts of the game is the "Smiley" part, because of those damn ninjas and being punched into a pit and fighting Durant, which you have to just SPAAAAAM the shoot button and hope you get into a rhythm. I also want to thank gamefaqs because someone put up the level maps of the level 5 elevator parts, which are easy if you memorized em but so incredibly unfair. Also used a fair amount of pause buffering too. I may have to play this a few times because I want to be able to beat it again at a later time and not have to re-learn everything.
  4. Ah man, that reminds me of the time I went to my buddies house and we learned the game together in 2 player.
  5. Ive been whittling down Darkman little by little. I dunno why Im torturing myself. Maybe because my mom bought it used for me as a kid, thinking she was doing something nice and man the game is so wonky and I felt bad for not really liking it. I'm way better at the physics of the game but it really forces you to move thru the levels in an almost specific way.
  6. Finished Princess Tomato. Also more tedious than I remembered, especially the 2nd to last level. Biggest flaw in this game is you can "talk" to someone, and they give you some info, but you have to talk to them AGAIN, or check things/look at things multiple times without it being obvious. The mazes are also a bit of a slog, but it was a PC game I think and that just came with the territory back then. I suppose for a casual play it isn't so bad, but trying to finish it in one sitting is quite annoying. Cute story and great characters though.
  7. True story, as unbelievable as it seems. I have a friend thats a big Mega Man fan. Back in the day we had modded PSxs and he downloaded Mega Man X5. Hated it. Hated it SO much, that he went to a video game store in the mall, bought a copy for $20 and threw it right out in front of the store haha. The next time he went back the guy said "you're not gonna throw this one out too are you?". Classic.
  8. Yeah, I knew he could move around in the castle but each time the wand was finished, I couldn't move or take control to pick it up, I was instantly stuck as he was moving in. So I thought I had messed something up. Lots of odd logic in that game too but it was Kings Quest.
  9. Ok, NOW I finished Kings Quest V. I remembered hardly ANYTHING about this game after I beat it years ago. Def harder and wonkier than I remembered. Of course where I messed up was, usually when you open something that has an item in it, Graham automatically takes it, except the leg of lamb, and since I opened the chest but didnt take it, I didn't have it, making me locked out of a puzzle later in the game. I also got very confused at the end when you have to steal the power of the guys wand and every time it completed, he automatically killed me. That happened 2x and I thought it was a glitch or I messed up, but just bad timing. Not that fun, go play Maniac Mansion instead.
  10. Ugh, got half way with Kings Quest V, I THOUGHT I got an item, as I opened up the drawer to get it, only later to realize I didn't have it, and I saved after the fact. Well gonna have to restart it... Ugh.
  11. I know but it only lasted a bit! Plus you can't always get it. I like the game for nostalgia but its SO freaking hard because you get 4 damn chances to make ALL that money. Plus after like day 4 the mouse traps increase a LOT. I wonder, is the hand and game order random? Interesting. When I beat it years ago my last hand was a Royal Flush. I remember really struggling against the computer at that point and figured the "Royal Flush" was the game's way of ending on a high note, because what are the chances?! I took a pic of it. Took me a long time to find it, but I took it Sept of 2015!! Almost 10 years ago, yikes!
  12. Was your last hand a royal flush? Also I'm trying to relearn Frankenstein again. Itll probably take me another day. Maybe later i'll run thru another adventure game.
  13. HOW?!?! Ive had this game since I was a kid and never gotten very far. The stupid hand gets too fast too soon. I've beaten Mutant Virus FFS!
  14. Finished Festers Quest. Not too bad if you know the key glitch. I also still think turbo fire should be allowed for this game because its recommended in the manual :P. Also you can do the key glitch on the final boss, but you have to be SUPER precise.
  15. Um... back to the topic, finished Power Blade 2. Another good run. Its not a tough game except for a few stupid parts, especially if you don't have the right power up. One of the weakest and easiest final bosses of all time. Also this is one of those games where using the password is more harmful because it doesn't save any of your extra batteries or health recharges. So in fact its harder to use passwords, than playing it thru. You can go into the final level with like 6 extra lives, 7 batteries and 6 health refills. With a password you start with the basic 3 lives and 0 powerups. Stupid. GI Joe Atlantis factor has the same issue.
  16. Finished off Ghoul School. Nice little Metroidvania that could use a little more polish, but not too bad. Its got that classic Imagineering "Where the hell do I go?" mazes, like in Bart meets Radioactive Man, but overall not too bad. I used a guide but if you have a piece of paper you can do it without it. I know last year or two years ago I re-beat it without a guide.
  17. I was a little half way into Ghoul School but I have to leave for work and just wouldn't have time to finish it. When I get back i'll finish it up and probably another simpler one.
  18. Its been a while but IIRC I think the first time I played it, I may have beaten it without a guide. I think my issue with the game at first was, there are LOTS of meaningless items. Where-as, Maniac Mansion, every item (cept the Chainsaw) can be used for something, or by another player. A lot of those point and click games have things called 'moon logic' which was a term that was developed for puzzles that needed to be solved in obtuse ways in order to pad out the game time, else like with me an Maniac Mansion now, I can beat it in under 10 mins. I played Deja Vu and Shadowgate once or twice, and I still remember in Deja Vu getting to the end and not realizing you could throw away the cloths in the river. I had to look that one up. And in Shadowgate, theres a globe with a seam in it that means you have to cut it, and I tried sharp objects, like a knife or a sword, but ONLY the AXE could cut it? Funny enough, this little blurb mentions Uninvited's spider thing, but I THINK I figured that out. It didn't seem as bizarre as caging a hawk for some red blob to get fascinated with, or that its a cookie you needed to put on the plate, not the weird fruit that you got or any other kind of food. http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Wiki/index.php?title=Moon_logic_puzzle
  19. I got about half way in Ikari Warriors 3 and it glitched out. I hope its not some weirdness with the AVS because thats never happened before. Instead of redoing it, I finished Uninvited. I cheated and used a walkthru haha. I forgot its a game where you have to slap a girl. Interesting title.
  20. Nice! I like seeing people work sometimes haha. I finished Metal Storm. Quick and easy one.
  21. It was less difficult but more tedious than I remember, but I finished off Best of the Best Championship Karate. I kinda remembered all you really needed to do is low kicks mixed with high kicks, but all the training I forgot about, yeesh. Also You dont need to defeat the Kumite because you get the credits when you beat the champion Cogneur.
  22. I didn't know you could use the tranq on him? I usually stay ON the head because after the bop since I tend to push to the right. If I could save state it I probably could get a feel for it like you said. Thats kinda what I had to do with "Terminator" without realizing, if I hold B THEN move, I can jump higher. I never noticed before and once I practiced it a few times it wasn't an issue.
  23. I'm impressed! It's one of those games that once you KNOW what to do, it isn't so bad. IIRC if you get past the first level, its easier, but that finally level and boss battle, good grief! Well done!
  24. Finished off another one of my crappy favorites Indiana Jones Ubisoft haha. I love how the last level is so much easier than the other levels, and theres a hidden platform that you wouldn't think you would have to jump on at the end.
