yeah... I think Yoshi's Island is an okay game. But it's nowhere near the level of SMW for me. And as a new-ish dad, the sound of baby Mario's cry increases cortisol levels in me.

derailing a bit, but I'm also a fan of the F13 game. Wouldn't put it up as high as you, though. BUT, I do consider A Nightmare On Elm Street to be top tier. THAT is one of my absolute favorite NES games of all time. Both of those games are totally misunderstood.

Super Mario World by a long shot. Which is not to say SMB3 is bad. It's to say that SMW rules.

Similarly, a console port of the arcade version of Aliens needed to happen.
I like the way you think.

yeah there's some good stuff on Switch already.... XCOM 2 (this week I think?), Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Mario + Rabbids, not to mention ports of older games - the Shining Force games come to mind.

I really would love to see Metal Gear Solid V and GTA5 ported to Switch. Both games I spent a ton of time with, but both games I loved spending a ton of time with. They're also the last few of my big "port wish list," now that Overwatch and XCOM 2 have made their way over.

Some years ago I made the grave mistake of selling my Wavebird. And sadly, prices have only gone up since then. There's all sorts of aftermarket Wavebird clones, but I'm wondering if any of them are any good? I actually picked up some no-name brand GCN wireless controller a while back - it's white, and literally has no logo or brand name on it, so I have no idea what it is. It's... not good. The plastic feels super cheap and light, and the bigger issue is that the wireless dongle seems to only connect to the controller when it "feels like it." So anyway, yeah, are there any GCN wireless controllers that are easily accessible now (and cheaper than the going rate on a Wavebird) that are at least passable alternatives?

glad you're taking this in good spirits, dude. My water heater exploded maybe seven years ago or so, but luckily my games aren't in the basement. It was still a huge headache, lots of clean-up and a bill I wasn't expecting.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which takes place in 1986 was released in 2002 - simple math tells me that's a 16 year difference. I remember in 2002 thinking that the setting was so "retro." Yet, if there was a GTA game released TODAY taking place 16 years earlier, we'd be looking back at the olden days of.... 2004. Oh my.

The 2003 show is solid, yeah. At least what I saw of it. I never got thru the full run. But I felt like it had a tone somewhat similar to the IDW comics.
At one point I was working on a full watch/rewatch of ALL of the TMNT shows in chronological order, but it fizzled out due to just having less down time.

Did you try the multiplayer for X? Curious if it is worth it.
I didn't. I did do some of that thing where you can recruit other players' characters as temporary party members, which was a neat touch. But never got around to messing with actual multiplayer.

so far the only Xenoblade game I've played is X on Wii U, which I absolutely adored. Knowing that that one is generally considered the weakest of the franchise, I'm still looking forward to delving in to the other games.

just discovered this club, and glad to see appreciation for Rebelstar: Tactical Command. I played this back in the day and had a blast with it. The draw for me was that it was created by Julian Gallop, creator of the original X-COM series. And while I'm pleased as punch that XCOM 2 is finally making its way to Switch, there was a time when Rebelstar was the closest thing I had to a portable X-COM game.
As a heads up, Gallop also made a pseudo-sequel to this game in the form of Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars on 3DS. It's.... not as good as Rebelstar to be honest. But it's still an interesting game, and again, served as another sorta replacement for portable XCOM at one time.

It is a shame that the clubs don't get used more - seems the perfect place for people to talk about a specific genre (or console) and talk with others who like the same type of games - that would be the perfect place IMHO to talk about gems (hidden or otherwise). One thing about "gems" lists is that if there is a game genre you have no interest in than it can't be a gem to you no matter how great it might be for someone else.
I... never even looked at the Clubs until this post. Wow. I've been missing out on a lot of good content. :0

Earlier this year I did the same thing using save states on the Switch Online. I didn't try for no-hit, but I'd just use save states between each level. TBH, it still felt like a victory for me 30-something years later, haha.

I was thinking of this recently. I don't have a lot to add to the conversation. But I wish there was still a way to legit buy Final Fantasy: My Life As A King on Wii.

thanks, @Tanooki - I ended up ordering the cheapest "Amazon Recommends" one, which was like $10, but had 4 stars. Most reviews said the battery lasted a solid 8 hrs or so.

bump.

I'm hoping to pick this up in the near future. It's been out of stock at my Target for weeks (I've checked the past few times I've had to go there for formula etc). But when I get it, I really want to focus on making a badass aquarium.

The battery in my GBA SP seems to be bad. It charges, but starts to flash that it's low after 60-90 mins tops. There's some fairly cheap aftermarket replacements on Amazon I'm seeing, but just curious if anyone has personal experience and can recommend a particular one? Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up! I've got some Amazon gift cards as it happens.

Hello, all. I've got a little bday money to burn, and I've been thinking about getting one of those GCN mobile monitors. I don't really care which model, as long as it works. I may be interested in a spare Cube to go along with it as well. Let me know if anyone's got a GCN monitor to spare. Thanks!

Are there any decent Wavebird alternatives?

@Makar yeah, the Wavebird is great. I'm not pleased with myself for the impulsive sell off.
@Bearcat-Doug Thanks! I was looking at those, as they're cheap and on Amazon (still have some giftcard balance there), so I may look into one for the time being.
