  1. Very true, the Haggar Thunder Tackle loop infinite is a lot more satisfying to pull off than any of the punch infinites from Final Fight arcade. You feel so strong playing Mighty Final Fight. Oh, also the weapons are great, how each character has a unique weapon to themselves. Versus Final Fight arcade where weapons are only decent if you're Cody and the weapon is a knife. Also to confirm, back in the day did you find Guy's flying kick special? I pulled it off for the first time a few months back and was stunned, at first I couldn't figure out how to replicate it since the input is so obscure, but doing it consistently now, Guy is actually my favorite character to use. He's so much fun.
  2. Yes Mighty Final Fight is definitely in my top 20 for the NES, such a great game. I've been playing it for years and yet only a couple months ago I figured out Guy's secret attack. Every character has at least one secret move. A lot more than meets the eye to this one, though I do wish it had an option for a hard mode.
  3. I'd think of Mega Man 6 as the pinnacle of the series. They went all out with the level design, with the route choices and the stage hazards, the Rush part upgrades were so cool, amazing set of Robot Masters. Fairly good weapon balance too, just like 4 there's a lot of strong weapons worth using in 6. DuckTales 2 isn't perfect but there's a lot more to it than the original DuckTales had to offer. I mostly agree on CnD 2, CnD 2 has really cool boss fights but that's about it. The stages are weak and the game is quite laggy.
  4. Yeah, spending hours on it is definitely not out of the ordinary, it's such a ridiculous final segment. Which is tragic because the rest of the game is definitely "tough but fair", they piled the nonsense high at the very end of the game. Another thing that's better on the NES version is the hitbox on Samurai Guard - his hitbox is so goofy in the arcade version. And since the Japanese arcade version (the one that's on PS4) has shorter time limits, there are cases where I've actually Time Over'd on Samurai Guard because I am just not able to hit him, haha. But it's fine in the NES version. Another Irem arcade game I've never 1CC'd is a side-scroller called Ken Go. It's a super cool game, by the way, which unfortunately never received a home release, but it's rock solid. Once again though, the final stage is nuts and always takes me a continue to survive, even if I get there with a full rack of lives.
  5. Ninja Gaiden 1-3 Mega Man 4-6 Double Dragon 1-3 (NES/FC)
  6. The arcade version of Kid Niki: Radical Ninja. I've come to terms that I'll never get a one-credit clear of that one, the final boss was simply made to eat all your credits until the stars align and you get a decent pattern. I can make it to round 8 on one life (in about 10-12 minutes), and then spend an hour or two trying to beat the last boss. I think it's typical for Irem to tack bullshit like that at the very end of their arcade games, the pit segment of Ninja Spirit comes to mind. It's tragic because the arcade Kid Niki is better than the NES one in almost all aspects, yet I still like the NES port more just because the final boss was toned down a heck of a lot.
  7. I'd also say world 8 of Adventure Island, it's brutal. For most games I wouldn't consider using continues to be a legitimate clear, but I made an exception for Adventure Island 1.
  8. I used to be a speedrunner so there are a few world records I still hold (mostly because the games I ran were obscure and weird ones). Besides that, I've made top 3 in quite a few Street Fighter tournaments. Those are all nice but the placement I'm happiest about is being at the top of the Ninja Saviors PS4 leaderboard. I was first place in the main category for a while but I've been pushed down to fifth or so. I believe I'm still first place for the co-op leaderboard, having played it alongside my girl. Oh yeah, also #1 ranked on the score leaderboard for Arcade Archives Kid Niki: Radical Ninja for PS4, which is neat, even though playing Kid Niki for points is a complete grind-fest. Edit: Can't believe I forgot about it, but another favorite achievement of mine is my world record score for Hammerin Harry arcade, my all-time favorite game. It's unverified, but can't find a higher score out there anywhere.
  9. I've been playing the heck out of Castlevania Adventure for Game Boy. By loop 3 the damage ramps up so immensely, but I still want to go for that deathless loop 3.
