Yesterday I wondered why Carmen Sandiego was so hard, then I read the requirements.

So, eh, why does this one have to be 100%ed rather than just beaten by capturing Carmen? I’m not saying these goals have to be easy but that did sound a bit unnecessary.

(Full disclosure, I have never played this game.)

Carmen pops up about 50 cases in, after your last promotion. But you're prompted to keep solving cases until 80, when you are forced into retirement. Since that's in the manual too, it makes sense to be the winning condition. Plus you don't get the end screen until then.

Since my fingers are still wrecked from Trakc & Field II I thought about maybe trying one of those turn-based strtegy games from Koei. Is one of these currently worked on? And would it be okay to chose a lower difficulty?

Well, there are two left. Genghis Khan is definitely harder, but RotTK2 is no slouch either. If you're serious, let me know since I'm going to start on one or the other next.

  3. It snuck up on me, but I just finished the 80 cases of Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?

I just got into the groove and zoned out while playing it by smoking cigars and watching 1990s Playmate profiles on shuffle in the background.

Yeah, the last one in 2017, my family was ready with our glasses and we drove an hour and a half away to a town called Bravard, NC.  The skies were mostly clear and, I kid you not, about 1 minute before totality, a cloud covered the sun... and then about 2 minutes after the eclipse it passed by!

    the naked gun facepalm GIF

The sad story of Guillaume Le Gentil, who missed the transit of Venus reading in 1761 because his ship was blown off course and stranded at sea for several weeks. When he finally arrived at Pondicherry, it was occupied by the British at the time. Then, in 1769 in Manila, for the second and last transit until 1874, although the skies were clear for the month before, it was overcast on the day of the transit.

When he finally got home 2 years later, his wife had remarried and his property seized as he had been legally declared dead.

I was leaning towards Carmen, but I suppose I could let you have it if you're interested in starting it next week. Have you done it before? Last warning to @Foochie776; if you started this game buddy, you'd better get in here and let us know.

And I've not been super worried about the Bases Loaded games. Last I heard, @Khromak was playing the first one and @McBryce had committed to 3 and 4 (and was making good progress on the latter).

Up to you man, just let me know either way. I have beaten it before. I can just knock out the other Koei games left.

My concerns are a mix of the console being damaged from overheating, the game corrupting, and the possibilities of a hiccup in the power coming from the wall. I'm happy that you've never had problems, but I haven't been so lucky.

    Also, in other news:

I reached the final boss of Little Ninja Brothers tonight. It should be done soon. I'll probably start Clemens Baseball or Carmen Sandiego next (unless @Foochie776 is playing it).

I am planning to wrap up RotTK1 by Tuesday and am willing to do Carmen Sandiego next, if that sways you towards Roger Clemens Baseball.

3 Bases Loaded games left, ugh. Where's the guy who said he beat all 4 Bases Loaded games and like 20 other 9/10s within the first week of the competition a few years ago?

Appreciate you wondering what games I might be playing! No need to worry too much about me right now, and just tackle whatever you enjoy! I can come in later with clean-up if there's anything that looks like it's stuck on the list. 🙂

Feel free to work on Championship Pool... I bet no one wants to do that one lol

I don't know much about Warriors of Destiny. Does this mean that your whole playthrough was screwed? What happened? Did you miss a critical item that you can't go back for?

In unrelated news, it looks like I've clinched the completions crown for the 11th straight year.

I somehow got stuck in a forest and could not exit it, no matter how hard I tried. So I gave up and started over. I've made pretty good progress on the second playthrough.

I’m probably going to end up doing this one next year. Any advice? I heard that if you level up your initial territory a bunch it helps out a lot. How similar is it to a KOEI game?

Yeah, there is a speedrun or two on YT if you want to see the leveling up. But the battles for each daimyo get super tedious. It's not as interesting as a Koei game, and the layout is very weird and clunky.

Solomon’s key, the crap ending but it’s done I forgot how difficult this is even when watching YouTube walkthrough videos can’t imagine having this growing up with no outside help

Wow! I tried that once and the playthroughs do make it look so easy, but I got humbled after just a couple of levels.

Well, I do appreciate you telling me, so thank you. There were a lot of new messages and Power Pad talk I blew through a little quickly, so I missed that.

Ok, maybe Ultima: Warriors of Destiny then. I don't see anyone mentioning it in the last few pages, so I hope I'm safe.

Whoops, I screwed that up. I've played this Ultima game before and it is terrible. Oh well, I'll still do it, sigh

Can anyone help me with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? I'm on wave 9 and want to cross the lava for which you need to destroy some of these weird heads popping out of the lava so that they build a bridge. However, there aré never enough of them to form a bridge to the other side. I've been waiting for them until the timer runs out, I've restarted the wave like a dozen times and even restarted the whole game, but I always have the same problem. Is there some kind of trick to this? Or did I somehow softlock myself, because I used a warp or did something wrong during this wave? The walkthroughs on Gamefaqs don't say anything about this either, only that you should bring a lot of weapons with you by rescuing lots of children. But I'm still trapped and don't know what to do.

Did you ask the guy waving to you in the lava?

About a day ago Khromak posted that he already started this game. Maybe you should figure this out so that the game doesn't get beaten twice?

  14. I can mess around with Bard's Tale after I take a break for a couple of days. IIRC, it's not too bad.

Looks like there are 3 Koei games left. I was trying to figure out who beat Nobunaga 2 and then looked at the list and remembered it was me a couple of weeks ago. Looks like my decline into senility is accelerating.

It's under "Special Pitcher Trick." Hawaii has two pitchers that can do it, which is ideal since you have to rotate between games.  Using passwords after each game can offset this as pitcher rotation isn't saved, but if you want to play multiple games in succession, inputting the password after each game is not ideal.

Can confirm I used this trick when I beat it for the competition a few years ago.
