  1. It snuck up on me, but I just finished the 80 cases of Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? I just got into the groove and zoned out while playing it by smoking cigars and watching 1990s Playmate profiles on shuffle in the background.
  2. The sad story of Guillaume Le Gentil, who missed the transit of Venus reading in 1761 because his ship was blown off course and stranded at sea for several weeks. When he finally arrived at Pondicherry, it was occupied by the British at the time. Then, in 1769 in Manila, for the second and last transit until 1874, although the skies were clear for the month before, it was overcast on the day of the transit. When he finally got home 2 years later, his wife had remarried and his property seized as he had been legally declared dead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_Le_Gentil
  3. Romance of the Three Kingdoms 1 I'll start on Carmen Sandiego now
  4. Up to you man, just let me know either way. I have beaten it before. I can just knock out the other Koei games left.
  5. I am planning to wrap up RotTK1 by Tuesday and am willing to do Carmen Sandiego next, if that sways you towards Roger Clemens Baseball. 3 Bases Loaded games left, ugh. Where's the guy who said he beat all 4 Bases Loaded games and like 20 other 9/10s within the first week of the competition a few years ago?
  6. Feel free to work on Championship Pool... I bet no one wants to do that one lol
  7. Going to start on Romance of the Three Kingdoms 1 since I doubt anyone is really stoked about tackling that one
  8. All right you bastards, Ultima Warriors of Destiny is done. It's really not hard, just super tedious. And if you're not using a walkthrough, forget it. I have to chill for a day or two, and then maybe knock out another Koei game. Is anyone actively working on any of them?
  9. I somehow got stuck in a forest and could not exit it, no matter how hard I tried. So I gave up and started over. I've made pretty good progress on the second playthrough.
  10. Yeah, there is a speedrun or two on YT if you want to see the leveling up. But the battles for each daimyo get super tedious. It's not as interesting as a Koei game, and the layout is very weird and clunky.
  11. Ok I really hate this game now. 10 hours in and I got softlocked somehow.
  12. Wow! I tried that once and the playthroughs do make it look so easy, but I got humbled after just a couple of levels.
  13. Whoops, I screwed that up. I've played this Ultima game before and it is terrible. Oh well, I'll still do it, sigh
  14. Did you ask the guy waving to you in the lava?
  15. Well, I do appreciate you telling me, so thank you. There were a lot of new messages and Power Pad talk I blew through a little quickly, so I missed that. Ok, maybe Ultima: Warriors of Destiny then. I don't see anyone mentioning it in the last few pages, so I hope I'm safe.
  16. I can mess around with Bard's Tale after I take a break for a couple of days. IIRC, it's not too bad. Looks like there are 3 Koei games left. I was trying to figure out who beat Nobunaga 2 and then looked at the list and remembered it was me a couple of weeks ago. Looks like my decline into senility is accelerating.
  17. Shingen the Ruler is done. Last time I'm playing it. Just too boring and repetitive.
  18. I assume no one else is enough of a masochistic nerd to do Shingen the Ruler, so I'll work on that next.
  19. Can confirm I used this trick when I beat it for the competition a few years ago.
  20. Time to keep going through the Koei games.. I'll do Nobunaga's Ambition 2 next
  21. Lunar Pool Definitely a Dad game and has a lot of replay value.
  22. Sorry, it's been a while. I was thinking of the Harrier. I still stand by the normal gun working well in the ground areas, especially in later leves, though.
  23. This game is fun. I had to use the helicopter to have any chance of shooting the planes down, and mostly used the machine gun in the ground phase to jizz on the targets, especially in the later levels.
  24. There are 60 levels, but the rest is correct. You can get 2 balls in one stage by doing "perfect" play, but that's pretty hard. I'm getting pretty good at it, and am hoping to do a full run tomorrow. Basically you need to accumulate 20+ lives in the first 20 stages and then hope for the best after that. If you don't have that many, may as well reset.
