  1. On level 99, it is possible to get to the Crystal Ball and the Door on 1-player. I did it back in 2013 or whenever I beat it. Sulpher talks about a way in his FAQ, no idea how accurate it is though. I think I just got lucky when I did it. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/563392-bubble-bobble/faqs/18902 I think it is acceptable for this thread, to bring in Player 2 though. Probably easier. Either way, after you beat the boss on B2 or whatever, you do have to pause and bring in Player 2 to get the ending.
  2. HA! Well that's a very long-winded way I had of just saying "Wait about 15 minutes".
  3. "In Levels 3 & 4 of Elevator Action, WashYourFace figured out that if you sit in a safe spot (far side of a wall) and wait out the enemies as they go more and more nuts trying to shoot you, the aggression counter will eventually roll over and they'll be as meek as kittens for a few minutes. Without that, Level 4 is a brutal, cheap nightmare." Found this from last year. I'm glad somebody remembered, because I almost forgot myself, and not sure if the NA archive would still have it. I'm writing it down this time (I guess so I can beat Elevator Action years from now).
  4. I couldn't sleep, so Jackal is beat. It wasn't a very good run, though.
  5. OK I've started Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Don't know how long it will take me, so if somebody beats it before I do, that's fine.
  6. I have found that as well. Once I got determined to beat a game, sometimes I noticed that it isn't as hard as I thought. There are a few high-point games on here, that I don't think are really that hard (but only because I've beaten them before). Sky Kid for 9+2 points is one example. Side note, how is Crystalis 6+1 points??? In my opinion, it's one of, if not THE best game on the system, and not hard at all. Surprised it's not one of the first off the board like Dragon Warrior.
  7. Congrats. I finally sat down with a walkthrough and beat that on 1/30. Thirty years ago I tried to play it and got nowhere. I can't imagine beating it without a walkthrough/guide. Some things are so convoluted. Glad I finally got it done though after 30 years.
  8. I think all of our picture taking needs work here I remember as a kid, I got a really high score/level on Centipede for Atari 5200 for a contest. But trying to take a picture on a 1970's TV with an old-school film camera was so difficult! I think I spent the whole roll and got 1 good pic
  9. Go ahead, you can start it, but somebody always could beat it first.
  10. In keeping with my tradition, I beat a game show game first for the year. Jeopardy Jr. done! Sorry it's a little blurry!
  11. Kind of deincentivizes me from playing them. I like playing the Koei games, but if other people are "calling" games, then I won't bother.
  12. Yeah it was terrible when I beat it because of the random warps. Arkanoid is a much harder game, but at least it makes sense. Super Glove Ball is just random nonsense. Imagine playing it back in the day with no guide/walkthrough. Imagine playing it with the Power Glove
  13. Yay, we did it! Actually I did nothing. Hope to contribute next year, though.
  14. You're awesome. One day (week/month) I will dedicate the time to beating Andretti. I was getting better at it, and kind of saw where it was going. Seems like you have to be really perfect (perfectly robotic).
  15. Well GameFAQs and the manual for Michael Andretti suck. Here's a much better guide: https://strategywiki.org/wiki/Michael_Andretti's_World_GP
  16. So for Michael Andretti, do we have to win with most points on all 9 levels (16 courses each = 144 courses)? Or is it enough to just get the most points on level 1 (16 courses once)? Manual says: "In order to win the title of Grand Prix Champion for a particular level, you must gain more points than any of the other GP racers." which seems to indicate the ending is the same no matter what level you beat? But I don't know how this works...
  17. 3 years in a row? What was I thinking. Well if nobody else does the other parts, I'll knock them out. It's not too bad if you do them one mode at a time and have nothing else to do.
  18. I thought I beat Rock 'n Ball in two previous years of this, but maybe it was only the once. Still takes a long time, even with the glitch that gives me infinite score. Yeah, I got busy, moved, and just now got my game systems hooked up. Hopefully I can spend a little time with this if you do it again next year.
  19. I'll give you guys 1 more month. I do not want to beat Rock 'n Ball again.
