    A BOY AND HIS BLOB

Nice. It was cryptic to me as well when I was a teenager. Sounds like you got farther when you were 7 years old than I did a few years ago. I sat down and thought I was finally going to beat it. I think I gave up halfway through. Guess I still need to do that, with a walkthrough or something.

I don't know how you play Koei games, but leaving large amounts of empty provinces lying around seems like a really strange strategy to me.  Are you aware that you can delegate provinces so that you don't have to deal with them anymore?  You can also tell provinces to automatically send excess rice or gold to your headquarters (or wherever you want); this is like getting free resources from about the midway point of the campaign onward.  All you do is leave exactly one general in each province behind your front lines, then max out his loyalty and delegate him to run the province on his own.  Easy-peasy...

No I didn't know that... I dunno, seems like I couldn't leave too many generals behind if I wanted to kill them fast. I only left behind the generals low in Power and/or Loyalty. The rest I attacked with, usually in 2-4 groups per attack. Oh well, doesn't matter now.

Congrats! I don't think it's possible to end up with fewer than 58 generals unless you are ruthlessly executing everyone who opposed you Genghis Khan style, but i can see it being a pain to be done with the game and then have to spend a lot of pointless turns trying to find and recruit free generals.

Luckily I had enough (with maybe 2 extra) that I didn't have to recruit anymore, but it still took an hour or two, moving all the generals around, cycling through every state and passing on the ones that were in the right spot. If I didn't already know there was an ending I would have just stopped there and said it was beat. It will be a little while until I move on to RotTK2, so if somebody gets to it before I do, that's great!

You have to put one general in every single province and then wait for the end of the month to trigger the ending, and if you don't have enough generals left to do that, you technically cannot "beat" the game.  So hopefully you haven't spread yourself too thin...

Yeah well that sure is annoying. OK, working on it. You can "search" for generals and find more, but you can only recruit them with Cao Cao. I've already gotten back 2 of them. But what a pain in the ass.

i did championship pool last month the advice I would give is to just really take your time on each and every shot, you really have to get creative against some of the later opponents.  Basically check all the different power levels with all the different amounts of spin. I would routinely spend ten plus minutes on a single shot to figure out my best option.  Another thing that tricked me was the ghost ball only ricochets like twice so sometimes it looks like it disappears into the pocket but really it’s grazing the cushion and missing.

I was going to say the same thing. This is what I did when I beat it. Just very carefully figure out every shot. It was very time consuming. Pretty sure I walked away at times, leaving the system running. I didn't find Lunar Pool nearly as hard, but also time consuming. Although I haven't played either of them since I beat them several years ago.

    Finished Jordan vs Bird.

Not a great game, but not godawful by any means in my book. I think itd be a crack up to play it 2-player

That's a good point, playing it 2-player might not be so bad. I'll revise my list and just put it in bottom 10 instead of 5.

@WashYourFace@Crabmaster2000 There is a guy who has a couple of speedruns of Shingen on youtube. Basically, by switching between your two starting territories, you can quickly grind to a high level, then strategically battle each daimyo with a very limited force. It turns a 25-30 hour game into a "quick" 5-6.

Hm, thanks for the tip! I haven't played it in some years, but I'll make note of it in case I play it again!

Challenge accepted! I played through it last year but cant remember if it was fun. Ill pop it in and see if it meets my weird standards. It was def popular, but I never played it until last year

It's pretty easy to "beat", but I would put it in the bottom 5 worst licensed NES games of all. The graphics are horrible. It barely even qualifies as a "game". I looked back at my notes when I last played it: "There are different "modes" but they are all very simplistic...this is 1 step above Atari Basketball". LOL just my opinion of course, I'm sure some people out there love it!

Also, I am stunned to notice that it's worth 8 points. I should grab that, it really is easy to beat.

Captain Skyhawk is done. No end screen photo becuase there really wasnt one. There was a mission accomplished message after you beat the last boss. By the time I grabbed my phone, it was on a game over screen. WTH would you put a game over screen in after the end?

Generally though, that game is awesome in my book. All the Milton Bradley (marble madness, California games, captain Skyhawk) games I can think of are great

I would say Jordan v. Bird is NOT great, though. One of the worst actually.

I beat L'Empereur in 2018. It was so far the hardest KOEI game for me, but also one of the best ones.

The first Nobunaga's Ambition was one of my least favorite. Would definitely rather play RotTK again over it. I'm starting Nobunaga 2 right now. Probably Bandit Kings of Ancient China after that. I think the only other KOEI game I still need to beat after that is Uncharted Waters which I'll get to at some point this year.

I probably just remember Nobunaga being better because I beat it the same time I beat Shingen the Ruler (which isn't a Koei game), and Shingen required a lot of grinding, but Nobunaga was a lot easier. After awhile all these games blend together. Uncharted Waters is much better than those, though. UW2:NH is one of my favorite games on the SNES.

I'll start 2021 off with some KOEI games. Finished Nobunaga's Ambition just today. Going to start on the 2nd one tonight or tomorrow.

Sweet, those are better than Romance of the 3 Kingdoms that I've been too busy to finish so far. Have you ever played/beaten L'Empereur? It's a pretty good game, hard though.

Anyone have tips for family feud? Man this is a damn slog

Yeah I don't know what to tell you. Some of the questions/answers are strange. But you just gotta get the right answers (or ones that are good enough). There are some "top answers" I've never figured out. A few don't make any sense. Most do make sense though. Eventually, things WILL repeat and hopefully you remember some answers. It takes me a little while to beat, but not that long. Just keep playing and get lucky, I guess.

I practiced in an emulator too, and the thought of pausing again to practice did cross my mind! It's such a bizarre game -- you can tell they wanted to do something good, but they didn't put in any of the infrastructure to support it. Maybe they realized at the last minute that they didn't really have enough of a game, so they decided to make the last boss fight such a hassle to stretch things out -- or to discourage renting the game, who knows.

Did you use a pattern where you hit him 10-11 times, then go to the bottom right corner until he backs off? I came up with that one on my own., but I'm sure others have found the same thing.

I don't remember at all, it's been over 8 years. Even though the rest of the game isn't very hard, I find it pretty boring. I guess it's just a case of a bad port/version of an arcade game.

Ikari Warriors II is done. Pretty easy game except for the final boss, and once you know a pattern that works (which is no easy feat to find!) he's not too bad.

When I beat it, I practiced the last boss in an emulator until I got the pattern down, and then when I played the actual game, I paused and did one last practice on the emulator before unpausing and repeating in the real game. Such a stupid way to make the game though. What were they thinking.

    Thanks for the input, dudes.

Yeah, I managed to get the Crystal Ball and the Door by myself on this playthrough, but that still results in the better of the two "bad endings".
Are you guys saying that if I start on the final stage with a second controller plugged-in and select "2-player continue", it'll give me the good ending? I might try that, since I don't have anyone to play with (you know, social-distancing during a global pandemic and whatnot...)

    -CasualCart

I think you need to have 2 players in the game when the level finishes. So you need to have an extra guy available, and right when you beat the boss, Pause and hit Select (official use in the manual, not a cheat) to bring in player 2. No need to bring him in earlier. No need for 2 controllers.
