I liked the tier system. The only real flaw is that you could have casual players that are really good end up in a lower tier because they didn't participate as much. You could use a statistic to determine a player's average finish in relation to contests participated in for the seeding, but that would be a lot of extra work.
Yeah, I finished it for the 2021 NES completions thread. It is a lot more fun when playing normally than it is just to camp out at the end of a hallway shooting enemies as they come out of the doors for an hour.
My neighbor was the first kid on the street with a NES and the only games he had were SMB/Duck Hunt and Elevator Action. We played SMB most of the time, but we did play a lot of Elevator Action too.
I could see this going similar to the Mario Bros contest last year where it turns into a test of who has the most patience to sit in the same spot and point press until they get bored or accidentally get hit.
I was going to say the same thing. If you find a safe spot, you can just camp out and keep racking points. I got over 35k before I got bored. If I get time this week, I might see how far I can push it.
I've just been overwhelmed with real world happenings lately and it doesn't help with my level of motivation to play video games at a competitive level. Hopefully I can work something out, but sometimes it's best just to take a break to recharge mentally.
