  1. High Bids:

    #1 - Zelda: $30 a3quit4s

    #2 - GBC: $30 a3quit4s

    ------------------

Hello all!  I have been cleaning out my collection and trying to pair down to a more suitable amount and came across these two beauties.  These were received as part of my secret santa gifts many moons ago from a member here.  Apologies as your name is escaping me, so please chime in!  I know you were Colorado based ... Jim maybe? 😬 ....

I'd like to auction them off here to get them into a new home and donate all the proceeds to the site to help with a little spare funds and/or tip for @Gloves, maybe?

I will cover shipping anywhere in the world.

    Auction Rules:

    • Bidding starts at $1
    • Increments of whole dollar amounts only
    • Shipping is FREE
    • Auction ends this Friday, August 11th at 10 PM Eastern

Feel free to reach out with any questions!  Please note which auction and what bid you'd like your number to be on.

Was there a thread for mail in hint sheets? @acidjaguar I know about your mail order publishers news one, could have sworn you started one here.

I've only created threads with overall lists of guides, nintendo powers, and newsletters.  The Mail in hint sheets are a little of the NES based books, but there could also be another category of direct letters from the game publishers as I've seen and have a few from when the client wrote in directly for help and they sometimes answered with a hint sheet in return.

Ive seen that guide, but it only shows the Playstation logo. There are a handful Ive seen like that on your list. Ones, that don’t to seem to be covering N64, only Playstation. Ive only been interested in ones that list N64 as a covered console, even if the guide would work fine for the game regardless.

From your list these seem to only call out Playstation and not N64 on their cover somewhere:

Ready to Rumble Boxing Round 2 (Prima)

    Resident Evil 2 (Prima)

Xena Warrior Princess: Talisman of Fate (doesn't exist? Playstation game has different game or at least different title)

    Gex 3 (Millennium)

I could totally be wrong as I was with War Gods here. But I just haven’t seen any pictures of any of these where they list N64 as a covered console and Ive been looking for a long while now. If you have them with that info I would definitely like to see it so I know if Im missing it or know where to look on the book to see it somewhere.

On a different note. In your Prima section I think you may be missing a variant for Mortal Kombat Trilogy. There is a “Secrets of the Game” cover and a standard Prima cover. Separate from the Kompanion

I was able to find my Gex 3 and you are correct.  It is only listed as Playstation ... bummer.  I will edit the list and check these other guides too!  Glad to see people at least referencing them and questioning my sanity 😁  Much needed.

I've looked in to a few of the others and I do believe your points are valid.  I will be sure to update the list to reflect that.  Thank you for pointing them out!

I have a pretty big guide collection for N64 specifically. In terms of purchasing resources its been ebay and amazon. In terms of information there was a thread on here listening all of the strategy guides for each system. Though Im fairly positive a few on this list do not exist as stated. (Gex 3 from Millenium books for example)

The Gex 3 from Millenium is a harder one to come by but it is real. I need to dig mine out to get you a picture.  Millenium did a very short run of guides overall, six in total.  I can't confirm the 7th that is advertised as I've never seen it IRL.

@LeatherRebel5150 do you have an extensive strategy guide collection? If so do you have any good resources that you use? I collect a lot of them when I can and am specifically interested in Nintendo, Prima, and Brady guides from N64 era and going backwards.

You can check out the lists I've built through here.  I've been trying to keep the most up to date information possible on everything early and guide related:

Awesome list!  I'm just wondering why "How to Win at Super Mario Bros." is listed under Multi-Game Guides?  The Zelda Tips & Tactics book that was sold along with it for years in Nintendo Power is listed properly under single game guides, but I can't figure out why SMB's book is listed where it is...

It might have been conflated with the similarly-titled How to Win at Super Mario Bros. Games (which itself is missing a word on this list).

I've been able to confirm again.  It only relates to Super Mario Bros the original OG of the bunch. No other SMBs are strategized throughout the book.

Yeah that page covers a lot of the different guides nintendo officially published throughout the different consoles.  The Official Nintendo Players Guide is the black cover book under multigame in the list.  Other ones are included in the other lists I have going on the site here per the respective platform.

I’ll have to verify again as I would’ve put it there for multiple games but maybe I confused a few similar titles when I recreated the list … who knows at this point!

Doesn't seem to be any given order in how they ship out?
I'm still waiting for NES/SNES speedrun orders from july/august.

It looks like they move inventory partially to California and are shipping as they work through the pallets is my assumption.  Some stuff remained in Denver as I've got three packages from CA and two from CO.  So they are just working through the remaining orders and I'm sure your stuff will go out sometime soon.  Seems like a lot of people are starting to receive stuff pretty regularly.

  10. The old Nintendo employee copies are definitely not coming up as frequently as they may have used to.  I'd say as a rarity factor, this one is definitely way up there.  For a value standpoint, I'd estimate roughly 1.5 - 3x the value of the typical pieces.  Something like this is sought after by people such as myself (really just the book for me) but there are a few collectors who have a solid collection of former Nintendo employee copies that would probably go after this if at auction.  I think that the following for this game in particular could essentially raise your price pretty well given it is a unique version of a popular title.

I believe the story goes that NoA had employee store where they could rent out games and play them.  This would be an example of such a game and book.  There is another version that were sent out as promotional copies and denoted by the clear sticker and text reading "NINTENDO PROMOTIONAL OFFER" Not For Resale (yellow text).

The game counselors had a bin of current magazine issues they would take (including NP guides) but typically those are marked by a Desk #xxx or just a number as shown here:
