  1. thanks for sharing. I have a few -CAN inserts/manuals but all -USA carts… strange but stuff like this keeps it interesting. I have to go back thru all my DS games now and check.
  2. @JVOSS Watch out games from Sega, Natsume and Majesco. They appear to be the biggest culprits with listing the -CAN inserts and Manuals with -USA carts. However, there are a ton that don't list the code on the front but have French text under the ESRB logo and on the back of the insert. For example Arkanoid by Taito...... NTR P YAAE is the code next to the UPC..... its the same on the cart but adding -USA but there is a English/French cover and a pure English cover. For me personally I am going to purge all of the -CAN inserts/manuals and swap them for -USA. I haven't seen any -CAN carts. I am on the fence about getting rid of the ones that don't list the code because in some cases (usually later prints) the English/French is the only printing. I probably will never get that deep into DS collecting but for the future scholars this will be something fun to track.
  3. @JVOSS here is something I don't her anyone speak about when it comes to the DS (or Wii either) There are a lot of titles that have: 1. -CAN codes on the manual and insert which would make them Canadian releases. The cart is -USA or 2. they don't have any code on the manual or insert, have a different UPC, have both languages on the cover and the cart is -USA. There is a all English counterpart with no French. I know people say they go for ESRB or North America copies all of which apply but I remember in my NES days the -CAN games were considered variants. Would like your opinion on this because I've been stumped.
  4. You have to pay for it within 5 mins and it was paid for. Pat mentioned it in his latest youtube video It's a new type of live auction app. games have been going for crazy amounts on there. I think people get so caught up with winning it gets the best of them. it's not my thing but to each its own
  5. It was on that new app WhatNot.... a few youtubers like Pat NES pUnk mentioned it as well.
  6. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t expect a MegaSG anytime soon. They were up for awhile around August 2021 into September. 2023 for megasg
  7. As with any set there is no real way to complete everything. One of each game is fine with me and then you can add whatever you want to it
  8. Are the titles different when the game starts? That would be my final way to determine. Seems like Martine is the French version or Canadian release.
  9. @JVOSS for the Beyblade: Metal Fusion & Beyblade: Metal Masters I think you are dealing with a situation where there was different cart codes to track not only the game but the exclusive Beyblade toy that came included with different retailers. I have not done a ton or research because I could determine if there was any cart difference. For Example with Beyblade: Metal Masters you would need 4 copies. NTR-BRZZ-USA - Green cart NTR-BRZW-USA - Red Cart NTR-BRZE-USA - Yellow Cart NTR-BRZX-USA - Blue Cart Beyblade: Metal Fusion you would need NTR-BBUE-USA - appears to be standard no blade included NTR-BBUX-USA - Appears to be Toys R US (cover change) There is also a blue logo toys r us and white logo NTR-BBUY-USA - appears to be standard with blade included (cover change) NTR-BBUZ-USA - appears to be Walmart (cover change)
  10. Got it..... makes sense. Want to clarify one thing For example when you say "Bolt" is a cart change are you referring to the standard release vs the Bolt Be-Awesome Edition or something else? or Toy Story 3 standard vs Toy Story 3 Rescue Edition. I think Diamond Trust of London counts because my metric is did Nintendo produce the cart. Now some will exclude it like they do Limited Run Games releases for switch. I don't think the Rom changes should count only like you mentioned with Deal or No Deal or Bomberman Land Touch 2 for example. I always use what was established for NES games. To have a fullset it's one of each game with a different title or code in this case. If we counted -1 or -2 in NES might be over 1200 games for a full set in NES so I keep the same baseline across all consoles. Just my preference.
  11. Outside of the cart code adding the -1 The logo for the publisher is different since its a different publisher so it can be identified that way as well.
  12. So question is…… the 6 with name changes on your list do you consider them separate releases?
  13. There’s a couple others that have different cart codes and content cart like Toy Story 3. There is the standard edition and a To the Rescue Edition that was exclusive to Target.
  14. 1st print is published Empire and 2nd print is by Storm City. There are some changes to the game with added content and in game maps.
  15. @JVOSS Great progress! Not sure what list your using but the DS has 1739 unique releases (1740 if you included the DS browser or 1741 if you include the Myst variant)
  16. DS collecting is a little different. Since about 1000 or so games are at $5 mark buying off eBay isn’t probably the best alternative when your under 1000. I don’t know where you live but in the states you have over 10 options of online game stores that have free shipping over a certain dollar figure. They all have hundreds on hand and will make your shipping woes go away. The DS depending on if your going for variants and releases from other countries is a min 25k investment currently. It’s a lot and major time investment due to the size of the library. It could keep you busy for years to come.
  17. And this is why the crash or bubble burst that has been predicted/prayed for over years will not happen. Things may go flat but that’s about it
  18. I don’t know if anyone who would go after the world set. Too many that are region locked. Be a heck of a challenge but from the financial side not sure if it’s money we’ll spent on a partially region locked system.
  19. DS.... 1750+ games; it's a tough one.... below are my thoughts Style: CIB preferred but sometimes sealed will cost the same. Don't bother with loose if you have the space. Language: With a NA DS set it's tricky with language. There is no complete list on US vs Canadian so any would be OK as long as it's ESRB. CIB variants? I would pass for now.... too many games to worry about variants. New/Sealed? Only if priced the same as CIB Cib variants with merchandise? Skip unless you get a deal or it's something you really like. You can then add back NFR or other variants as you go along. I don't mix loose into my collection unless it's the only way it was distributed. mixing sealed/CIB is fine for me. There are some top heavy games in the set but 1200 or so are reasonable. There are some VERY hard to find games that can take you some time to locate. Best wishes on the set.... the time is now. In the last year a few titles have taken off.
  20. Looking for Miracle Piano for the Sega Genesis. Loose cart is perfect for me. If you happen to have the piano cib with the genesis cart I would take it as well. UPDATE: That's the fastest I've found something on VGS Genesis is a wrap! thank you @nrslam
