  1. Legitimate copy please, would also prefer a nice label but I'm not picky. I don't mind spine wear across the top. I also need a picture of the board with your username visible in the photo and the current date. I'm not sure what a fair offer is anymore. I see copies on eBay float around $170 - $230... So $200? EDIT: I found one, thanks
  2. @Bearcat-Doug It's a nice cover to be sure, sadly it doesn't feature a single character or enemy from the actual Earth Bound game on NES (aka Earthbound Beginnings aka Mother). Even the screenshots are from the wrong game. It is however a great EarthBound SNES cover.
  3. Over 20 years ago, a prototype cartridge of Earth Bound (aka EarthBound Zero, aka EarthBound Beginnings) was found and publicly dumped through usenet. Since then, the game has made it onto the Wii U Virtual Console... (see title screen, still just says Earth Bound) But it seems no cover art for it has ever surfaced. Everyone just uses the red Mother cover art or pulls a still from a Japanese TV ad featuring live actors playing the characters from the game. (see video here) We also have this old interview with the English Script Writer for Earth Bound, Phil Sandhop. He shares details on what the game's packaging would have been like, but I don't think there's any mention in there about just the cover art. http://www.lostlevels.org/200407/200407-earthbound.shtml So, I ask former NintendoAge experts, did Nintendo of America ever finish a cover art for the unreleased Earth Bound? Has it ever surfaced? Or was it not completed before the game was canceled?
  4. I've beaten this game with my younger brother over 20 times by now, we play it regularly rotating with the other Mother games. It never seems to get old, it's such a great RPG with memorable music, great graphics and sound effects, a fun story and amusing characters. It's also fun seeing how low I can finish the game in terms of level, I think my lowest now is 71. One of my most favorite aspects of EarthBound is the battle backgrounds. I remember seeing mention of an unused inventory item called Video Relaxant, so my and my younger brother just call the backgrounds Video Relaxant, it has a nice ring to it. Those backgrounds really pop on a component modded SNES console using an SD CRT. Absolutely lovely... If anyone has a loose cart of EarthBound to sell, let me know. It would be nice to upgrade from the flash cart.
  5. I think of retro as pixel graphics. I'm inclined to agree with that one guy that retro means something new made in the style of something old. But sadly, language does change, even if it's for the worse. I dearly love my N64 games, but it's hard to call them truly retro. Many of them pioneered gaming conventions we still see today. Quasi-retro?
  6. 1990 to 2004 with Samurai Shodown 5 Special being the last release.
  7. What is a muppet? A miserable little pile of secrets!
  8. You can read more about it here, great article https://gamehistory.org/simcity/
  9. Actually, both versions of Sim City were being developed at the same time. The nes version got canned so as to not pull snes sales away... probably.
  10. Sure it’s on the GameCube, I’ve played it lots, but I would LOVE to have it on an N64 cartridge now that repros are possible.
  11. Finally, someone found it! It’s so beautiful...
  12. I've been looking all over for that! Thanks Bounce and your friend who dug it up. Definitely one of my favorite covers for an unreleased game.
  13. Ooh, that looks nice, thanks for finding that! Maybe one day we can find where the cover art comes from, or confirm that it was made just for the video game.
  14. Probably just use a Retrode, but some game systems have their own copier devices. I remember years ago seeing the CopyNES at retrousb, I always thought that was a cool idea. https://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=36
  15. I know, it's a kids game, but it's always been one of my favorite unreleased games. I have a weird soft spot for this game. I especially love the classic Thomas the Tank Engine songs re-created with triangle and square waves. What's unfortunate is a nice high-res copy of the cover art hasn't turned up in the past 10 years from what I've seen, but then I don't get around online that much. Does anyone have insight on this? Does the cover art for Thomas NES exist as a book cover or something elsewhere? Did a VidPro card for Thomas NES ever surface? NES proto art: This cover art was also used for the Genesis and SNES versions, but only the Genesis version was also in a portrait orientation.
  16. Are we counting Hucard and CD games? Advanced Variable Geo for Super CD is playable without knowing Japanese.
  17. I've enjoyed the PS2 on and off for the past 10 years or so. It took on a whole new life for me with the advent of the Freemcboot card and finding out about the hard drive adapter for the fat PS2 model. It's pretty sweet not having to worry about the disc drive anymore. These days I'm playing horror games like Silent Hill and Haunting Ground.
  18. I remember on NintendoAge there was a really cool thread for custom game labels. It was so neat seeing all the great artwork and stunning designs everyone contributed, I loved looking through it. The old NA is gone though and I searched around on this forum and didn't see anything like this, so I guess I'll start one. I'll even kick it off with some labels I still had, they're attached to this post, hopefully it works. If anyone has a label for Drac's Night Out or California Raisins, that would be cool too. Edit: Friends of the site helped me find them, thanks!
  19. I got my first NES and N64 in the summer of 2006. Hard to believe it was so long ago. Those represented my full, both feet first leap into vintage games, but I’d been into snes as an afterlife kind of system for a couple years before that. I’ve been more into old consoles than modern ones ever since.
  20. Those are definitely really cool, I wonder if they ever appear in the wild? I don't own any sadly.
  21. Hi, I used to be a member on NintendoAge. The site died and I never got around to joining the replacement forum here until now... Have I missed much? Is the old gang here?
