I guess what I meant is the printing looked a little "cartoony". More-so on the NES 2. The black consoles seemed a bit better... 🤷‍♂️

I have no idea of their design/print process.... but it seems like they can print whatever the hell they want onto the fabric. I would have went for thinner lines and a more "realistic" look, but obviously the design is easier to create with lines and blocks. Like I said, some seem a lot better than others so maybe it's just the white colour of the NES 2.   I don't see one for a frontloader, so not sure what to compare it to.

It's cool man, that's why I said "Anyways, I appreciate that others want to use them as they are quite functional."

Also... having systems under glass is a great thing if you can find the right type of shelving for your space/use... but alas, not always possible I get it.

This is what the front loader and others look like.

  2. @AirVillain they look fake because they are fake?

I like the idea of looking at my consoles, but I like the idea of not having to clean them even more. If I had sealed cabinets to put them in that still allowed them to be used then it wouldn’t be a problem. But I don’t, so it is.

It may be cheesy, but having to dust and clean out the grooves/ridges of certain consoles, seems more cheesy to me

The fact that they aren't included inside the sealed packaging for the game is a pretty strong argument for the fact that they are NOT required "to be complete."  I don't care enough to pick a side, but I could certainly understand the argument.

    Good point

Only six months out so far with Valis II, hated having to go this route.  If they're going to speed shipping, I guess I'll get it by Christmas?

The card thing they cut out some time ago, my Valis didn't have it, don't think the one before did either.

The cards were not dropped before. You just didn’t get them and should have contacted them about it (if you care). Personally them getting rid of them doesn’t bother me. One less thing for the game is required  “to be complete”

Edit: Also remember they come loose in the package not within the game. It’s possible you threw it out. Ive come close to doing that a few times

What's the point of these? A thick layer of dust and grime are the only protection MY consoles need! 😛😂

It’s a lot easier to wipe the dust off of these then it is to clean it off of most consoles. They’re especially nice if you have pets that shed. Aint no hair getting in them cart slots

I wonder if this will be said about the Switch in 25 years?

Eh, the Switch has many thousands of games. I think it escapes that kind of labeling just by the sheer volume as the vast majority isn’t ports from those machines…I think

Well, it didn't come with the brick, plaster and cement (which I can kind of understand.)  I have no clue how much those materials would cost and sense cement was still new-ish then it might have been a bit more expensive than today.  I'm guessing this was a 1,500 home for goods/materials?  What would a typical home like that cost in goods alone? I have no clue since prices have gotten insane but I'd guess maybe $125-150k?

A lot of property value is in location and labor.

I'd also be willing to be that for everyone one of these homes built off of this catalog purchase, if any exist today, they've all been renovated on the second floor to include a bathroom.  Since you would have needed some type of home builder anyway, I'm guessing the reason why there was a window in thecloset was so that the buyer had the option to work with the builder to shop out plumbing and parts to add a second-floor bathroom.  It'd be tight, but you could make it work.

Notable that the price is for material, not the house itself. Construction and labor are not included. Neither is all the material (excluding cement, brick, and plaster). I guess this is for lumber only? Hard to imagine trim is included if there's no plaster on the walls, too. Is the plumbing even included? (edit: gas? electric?) Not everybody even had indoor plumbing by this point so 1 bath / 4 bed isn't out of the ordinary, for the time. Lots of stuff would be different now. Closets would also be bigger now and staircases likely wider. (I recently had staircases rebuilt, and they are not to code so I had to either work without permits and inspection, or move walls just to make them wider.)

You can kinda still get the same concept. Though in cabin form

Well, housing costs have gone up since... okay, can you guess when this is from? 🙂

...From a time when they didn't bother to put a bathroom upstairs?  One bathroom in a four bedroom house does not sound like a lot of fun.

I also like how the biggest bedroom doesn't have the balcony either, so which one is the master: the one with the balcony or the one that's much larger than all the rest?

EDIT - The largest bedroom also has a window in the closet!?!  WTF!!!

I lived in a place where my closet had a window. Of course, it was a walk-in closet on the second floor.

The lack of bathrooms was the first thing I noticed too. That house would probably have 4 of them if built today.

That add is from a reddit post. It’s a Sears home. I think it was from the 1920’s

I don't have any specific suggestions, but I believe the only ones that you're going to be able to find to do the job and fit within the height restrictions of all cartridges is going to be one of the "sleeve" mounts for watch batteries.  Those are basically a thin metal "sleeve" that you slide the coin cell directly into, with two posts that mount onto or through a board, and basically the pressure of the holder itself or the holder against the board hold the battery in.  If you've ever taken an N64 memory card apart to change the battery, that is the kind of holder I'm talking about.  This link to Mouser is the closest I could come to finding what I was talking about, although here is a link to Mouser that goes directly to a full list of all CR2023 battery holders that they offer, plastic and metal.  You might be able to get by with one of the plastic ones if it's one of the ones that's a half circle and meant to be mounted vertically, but you'll have to do a little modification to those to get them to work.

One of the super flat metallic ones should eliminate all height issues, although you might be hard pressed to find one that mounts directly to or through the pads on NES/SNES/N64 without a little wiggling or modification.  Should you ever find something that works, it would be great if you shared on here what the part number was, where you sourced it, etc., as this sort of information will most likely just gain value the more time goes on.  Good luck!

All I know is I bought a few flats for both the larger batteries and small batteries from Mouser.  They were cheaper than Amazon, though I did order something like 50-70 of each type.  I didn't buy the clip containers like you want, but that have them.

Regarding Amazon/eBay, I assume all of those are cheap "close enough" junk items that are engineered in China.  At least when I bought my batteries (a few years ago) Mouser only provided quality components.  I'd assume that's still the case.  I can't guarantee what you find their will fit correctly, but maybe try to order some samples  directly from them and see how they work out.  Digikey might also be a good alternative.

Ive checked Digikey and Mouser in the past just could never find anything that doesn’t require moving the batteries to a different location or mangling the holder to make it work. The clips you linked to @darkchylde28 are surface mount so they are a bit of a pain since they get in the way of themselves when soldering.

I guess there really isn’t an ideal solution  for these

Are you gonna weld the clips to the batteries or do you want the ones that you can just change batteries on the fly without tools? I’m not sure there is one that will fit all three.

This place has the mounts in 2 different sizes https://retrogamerepairshop.com/products/cr2032-battery-holder-for-nintendo-fc-sfc-nes-snes-n64-game-card?variant=39497217704108

Yes, the holders you just swap the batteries out of. Ive seen that style before and they also need to be modified to go into an N64 cart correctly

I also sold all my SNES carts a few years ago so I can't find out unless somebody on VGS has one of those carts I sold on NA. Also, if those pics don't help any, I could send you some of mine.

Yea those are the most recent ones I tried. They’re definitely too tall to be mounted to the PCB correctly.

  11. Alright, Im frustrated. I’m tired of dealing with battery clips that need to be cut/hacked into carts. Ive tried a few different clips and they all have issues being too big one way or another. Does anyone have a link to a battery clip that just fits height and Diameter wise for N64 and SNES carts?

Edit: So here is the least difficult solution. That I can find

Dahszhi Button Cell Battery Holder for CR2032-10pcs https://a.co/d/9Jk6fLG

They are low profile enough to fit in every cart. The tabs/legs have to be bent down in order to work as they are meant for surface mount applications, though we’re using them for through hole in these games.

They are EXTREMELY fragile and the legs will easily break off. This can be alleviated by starting the bend and then adding some solder in the crease to reinforce it before bending it the rest of the way.

Suring bending it is extremely likely that the lower battery clip will pop out of place. It’s not critical, I ended up clipping the little side legs and just laying it in position. Once soldered to the board they aren’t necessary anyway.

Ive found that they fit in SNES carts without any further modification.

They require a corner of plastic be removed to fit in the N64 carts.

  12. I prefer wires. Unfortunately they god rid of the headphone jack on iphones so I cant  used wired headphones with the phone, but still use my classic ipod regularly with them.

I REALLY rather have wired power tools too. The amount of times Ive been halfway through a project when the last battery dies and have to wait an hour for then to charge is maddening. So I moved to all wired tools. Similarly I stick with gas powered lawn equipment, A LOT of battery powered crap has been showing up like weedwhackers, leaf blowers, and push mowers. Nope sticking with gas there too
