I remember stage 3 boss being the doom of many runs last time we played this. He is SUPER annoying.

Play till the ship goes boom. And I will consider the scores posted so far valid. I didn't make a participation requirement to get to a certain stage this time.

We can change the rules to allow one to go till stage 15 instead of 3. I remember that 14 and 4 up the difficulty a fair bit.

They are indeed. That is why for 2024 I will only be picking shooters with passwords to start at a later stage for the contest. It will be SO DAMN FUN!

Welcome, welcome. We finally enter the final stage of our 2023 weekly contest. And to start it all, we have The Guardian Legend, which will decide the Shooter genre championship! The rules are as follow: Use the password TGL to enter the shmup mode Play till you lose your first life or till you reach stage 15 Pause the game when you die or as you reach stage 15 and take your picture The stage order is 0, 1, 11, 12, 2, 13, 3, 14, 4 Highest progress with highest score wins Any infinite point pressing strategy is forbidden Genre: Shoot'em up The contest ends Sunday, 08/27/23 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.

Yeah, that was my bad that Legendary Wings took so damn long to get a run. I will do better with shooters next season and with Guardian Legends. Fast runs tend to be better for our current crowd.

Geral and genre scoreboards updated. We are heading towards the final part of the 2023 season with some close fights for a genre championship. Puzzle has @Gloves with 20 points and @mbd39 and @Dr. Morbis tied in 2nd with 19 points. Shooter @Gloves needs a miracle to beat @docile tapeworm Beat'em Up has @Bearcat-Doug leading over @PIIby 8 points Arcade has a really close competition with @Gloves leading with 15 points, @Bearcat-Doug in 2nd with 13 points, @PII in 3rd with 12, @Richardhead in 4th with 11, @Red coming out of nowhere with a win at pinball with 10 points in 5th and tied for 6th, we have @mbd39and @Dr. Morbis with 9 points. All of these have a chance at the title. Sports sees @Richardheadleading with 20 points, @Bearcat-Dougin 2nd with 18 points and @Dr. Morbis with 16 points. Arcade is still open as the game of this part of the season is still on going.

Yes, you have to make it to 3-1 for the score to be valid. It is a 10 to 15 minutes ordeal to do that.

@docile tapeworm is mathematically the Shooter champion of 2023. He needs to just finish 5th place in order to secure the win. If he finishes lower than 5th and Gloves wins, Gloves will be the champion for having 2 wins, 2nd place and a 4th place against 2 wins, a 2nd place and a 6th place. His path to the championship is pretty clear.
