  1. Yeah, I have this issue with how long this game takes as well. I guess next time we play it, we will go with stage select to start at the Technodrome and make it a speed run to see who beats it faster. Sounds more fun for the weekly contest this way.
  2. Zero score scene six works for me. If you can beat it, post the new score. For now, your progress counts towards the scoreboard.
  3. I will also accept this. Taking the picture when you kill Shredder is preferable, but this is acceptable.
  4. We will use the game scenes to tackle progress and if needed, boss hallmarks to determine progress (ie: If you beat Krang, you made more progress in the game than someone who died at Krang).
  5. You could go until the third time you saw the vendor. Then you had to buy it.
  6. Progress first + high score works nicely for plenty of games that allow sorta easy point racking at certain bosses.
  7. 1st Bearcat-Doug Game beaten - 772 2nd PII Scene 7-3 - 788 3rd Dr. Morbis Scene 7-2 - 823 4th Krunch Scene 6 - 677 5th mbd39 Scene 6 - 652 6th 8bitdontquit Scene 6 - 597 7th JamesRobot Scene 6 - 0 8th NESfiend Scene 5 - 512 9th the_wizard_666 Scene 2 - 131
  8. Ladies and gents, COWABUNGA!!! It is TURTLE TIME, and our valiant, skilled players will shell up, pick their sort... ninjaish... weapons and go kick foot! This time we are doing things a bit different. The rules are as follow: 1 life only Pick the Turtle of your preference. If you beat the game, pause the game as soon as Shredder dies and take your picture then Farming for points at bosses is allowed Highest progress + highest score wins Participation: Make to stage 2 Genre: Beat'em up The contest ends Sunday, 05/15/22 at 11 pm EST. Your user name should be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. For speed runs that require video, that is not required. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.
  9. Since it is progress first, score second, this is the proper mentality to have to tackle this game.
  10. As long as you buy the poster before the third loop of the stage, it doesn't matter if you collected the poster. But you cannot face the boss without buying it. And getting it before you loop the stage 3 times means you are leaving points on the table that will then be used to determine your placing against people who reached the same stage as you!
  11. Yes, it is progress first then high score. So a stage 6 with 0 points score beats a stage 5 with 999,999 points.
  12. You bought the poster, so your score would be valid if you had made to stage 2.
  13. 1st PII Game beaten - 128770 2nd Dr. Morbis Game beaten - 67670 3rd docile tapeworm Stage 6 - 37260 4th the_wizard_666 Stage 5 - 120060 5th 8bitdontquit Stage 4 - 145590 6th mbd39 Stage 4 - 93050 7th Krunch Stage 3 - 79780 8th NESfiend Stage 2 - 106210
  14. Ladies and gentleman, I hope you rested well during our break week, because now it is time for ACTION! Black powder, gun totting action! It is time for GUN SMOKE! Get your guns ready and go bounty hunting! The rules for this week are as follow: 1 life only You must buy the wanted poster from the vendor You have up to three loops of the current stage to acquire the money needed to buy the wanted poster (and to point press!) If you didn't collect enough money to buy the poster after you run by the vendor by the third time, your run is over If you collect the wanted poster from the stage after passing the 3rd vendor your run ends. As long as you buy the wanted poster before the 3rd appearing of the vendor, your run is valid... unless you don't buy the poster at the 3rd vendor. Your score doesn't show during the boss fight, so I suggest you to pause the game before it and take a picture of your score should you die during the boss fight. If you beat the game, take a picture of the ending and then a picture of the start screen which will be showing your highest score Highest progress + highest score wins Participation: Make to stage 2 Genre: Shooter The contest ends Sunday, 05/08/22 at 11 pm EST. Your user name should be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. For speed runs that require video, that is not required. 15. Having you all to have to buy it is much more enticing than giving away the location and I can implement a rule like "If you don't have the money to buy it after two loops, your run ends. Pause and take the picture of your score" and use a combination of progress + highest score to define the winner, with progress taking precedence.
  16. You all will already be allowed to burn lives to point press, so I see no issue allowing looping till one can acquire the wanted poster. Adds a new layer of strategy to the game.
  17. Yes, but in some stages, it would require 2 loops for you to have money to buy the wanted poster.
  18. I can actually force you all to buy them rather than picking them on the stage to make things more interesting.
  19. It will be high score, but I will post where the wanted posters are and you must pick them on the first loop for each stage or your score will be invalidated.
