  1. Hello everyone. We're ready for some shooting action this week. This week we revisit a great shmup on the NES, Isolated Warrior. The rules for this week are as follow: Play until you die for the first time One loop only. If you loop the game, take a picture when the game loops back to the beginning. If anyone is suspected of playing beyond the first loop, their score will be disqualified. To get your score, Pause then game as you die. You can't point press the bosses. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.
  2. Geral and genre scoreboard updated. We have a nice 2nd place tie between @PII and @Dr. Morbis right now.
  3. Final standings posted. Sorry it took so long to post it. Life caught up with me real fast. I will need surgery on my hand soon. Hopefully it will be during a break week or I will have to ask @guillavoieto handle the thread for the week I will be out.

  6. Yeah, that would be point pressing and I will add a rule nerfing it. I think I will allow at most 3 minutes of farming the millipede on each round. Thoughts about it?
  7. I am glad you all had fun this week. The idea was to make it fast to do so no large time commitment was needed, and to spice things up so people could find spots and mechanics they could exploit to achieve a higher score. I will work on keeping things like that in many of the games we will be running this year.

  9. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2nd round of the 2023 VGS NES Weekly Contest! This week we visit the Arcade genre with a very classic Arcade game! Coming all the way back from the year 1982, we have Millipede!!! This week our players are in for another round of fast and furious action. The rules they will have to follow are belo: Player 1 player mode B Play till you lose your first life You can't point press the millipede by not killing it for more than 3 minutes per round till round 10. After round 10 you can farm it freely... if you can. When you die, pause the game and take your picture as you respawn Participation: 5,000 points Genre: Arcade May the best insect killer win! The contest ends Sunday, 04/09/23 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. 10. Current standings posted. I hope everyone is having fun with this rules set!
  11. Eh, it is bearable. But ain't no dead bone nor cracked bones that will get in the way of my vroom vroom time. I have the driving line on so I can take "looking for the braking marks" out of my mental stack while I learn how to do this.
  12. That is correct and I cracked the scaphoid and the triquerium while working out because I was an idiot that thought my left hand would be able to handle the same weights my right hand even with the lunate bone dead at this point. Now I am operating with only one arm for pretty much the rest of the year because after the two bones heal I will have surgery to excise the dead lunate bone before it becomes and even larger problem! Fun times!
  13. Because you can kick it, wait for it bounce and kick it backwards. I won't mind if you end up kicking it forward once more during that.
  14. This' why I am focusing on rules set like this this year for most games. Even if you are short on time, you can put in a quick run for a score.
  15. You can hop the turtle two, three times without a worry. You can't stop there and keep hoping on the poor thing.
  16. This is correct. You can't hop on a turtle or beetle continuously. Doing it twice or thrice is fine, but you can't keep killing the clock while racking points with the hop. Without that ruling, this week would become a hop bore fest.
  17. Always great to have new blood join us here. Welcome aboard and have fun!
  18. If I don't ban the turtle hoping loop, then this week will become a bore fest of turtle hoping instead of level optimization that tries to achieve lightning fast completion while maximizing point scoring opportunities.
  19. Nay. If you die your run is invalid. You MUST make it to 2-1 for your score to be valid.
